I’m not pissed off as much as disappointed. Been listening to this guy all week after someone showed him to me, trying to get a feel for whether he knows his stuff and this is the nail in the coffin of him being full of it. I’m not well read on a lot that he talks about but I noticed whenever he does delve into something I’m familiar with he gets important details all wrong. Him saying Bernie’s ideas are “kind of crazy” when Bernie’s policy proposals are basically a clone of what most Western European nations already have in place demonstrates he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. That along with the many predictions he confidently makes, as if they’re fate, which turn out to be way off the mark. Like him claiming Bernie would run for president again… anyone who really follows politics would have known Bernie wouldn’t run again based on his ideology of stopping Trump and his numerous previous statements to that effect. Zeihan also said a year ago that Apple wouldn’t be able to manufacture any more iPhones because of the lockdowns in China… said things indicating he doesn’t understand the difference between ICBMs and hypersonic missiles, said trade only accounts for 12% of the US GDP when its actually more like twice that, etc. He makes many compelling predictions that have huge implications if true, and says them with supreme confidence, but at the end of the day he usually ends up underestimating the resilience of people and societies and doesn’t really have the evidence to back up his assertions. He’s interesting to listen to, I’ll give him that, but at the end of the day he appears to be just another doomsaying grifter that lacks a track record of being correct in his assessments.
@@mrjpb23 What Zeihan also doesn't understand, is that independent voters didn't decide the 2020, or 2022 {midterm} elections. The 2020 election was crudely "fixed", using voting machines {to manipulate}, blank paper ballots { mail in}, with no real signature or way of confirming the identity of the voter, and out and out fraudulent counting of ballots by criminal poll workers in the swing states. The 2022 corruption was much better organized, and less obvious { except to people of low intelligence}, with two full years to prepare. The 2024 election, is "the end of the line". The result will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will survive, or if communism will be the destiny of a once great nation.

"45% of the country is on the Left. 45% of the country is on the Right. 10% of the country doesn't know which planet they live on, and that's who decides elections." The Late Dr. Charles Krauthammer.
Nah, the US had roughly 60-65% election turnout in 2020 but historically its lower than that.50-60% So 25-30% of the population vote Dem or Rep, which leaves us with 50-40% of the US population as non voters/swing voters/independant or undecided. Thats a HUGE block.
None of the USA is on the left. For example the Democrats are comparable with the left wing of the UK Conservatives. Although they do like to interact with the Labour party, especially when both are in opposition, they are not anywhere near aligned. So the USA's 'left' is right of centre of that of the UK. The USAs' Republicans are comparable to the most right of the Conservatives and overlapping with the likes of Farage. And thats comparing to a right leaning country. Compare 'left' of the USA with the left of, say, France, for maximum giggles.
I’d say it goes the other way these days. Those who identify on left or right don’t know what planet they’re on. The 10% are in the middle who are still people who think for themselves
@@CptApplestrudl Agree at the modern left/right numbers you show, but your 50-40% for swing voters is way off. It is really more like 10% of swing voters deciding everything and the remaining percent doesn't turn out or doesn't even register.
Unless our voting machines secured and we go back to a fill in the bubble ballot. If we did this, then the ballots don't have to be handled so much and all the ballots are counted in a day or two instead of weeks. One day to vote, just have more places to vote. And no mail ballots unless requested. If the vote is not secured, we will have another fraudulent outcome!!
kimmartin, have you ever "signed" your ballot? No! Have you "signed" an envelope that has your ballot in it? Yes! So, did your vote count? Absolutely NOT! Why? Your envelope was "proof" of your vote, but your ballot was tossed and replaced with the one they want. See? There is no voting in America, it is just a fake election. There is a "uni-party" where "they" put in who "they" want for "their" agenda. "We the Sheople" just keep saying, "Baaahhh, baaahhhh, bahhhhh" all day long.
Especially given today's dire geopolitical situation. Our adversaries are going to go as far as they can as long as we have a weak leader like Biden in the WH. They will become bolder the closer we get to the election.
You are so right and the economy getting much worse is one of those things and I don't see the economy getting anything but much worse . If it gets as bad as I think it is going to get there is no way in hell that Biden gets voted back in.

Did you like how he DIDN'T throw out the obvious Cognitive Decline of Fedderman & Joe? But yet, Trump voters are cultists, & you like that he called that out? 👍
Except he didn't say Biden also has a cult follwing lol. This guy is a USA loving machine, but he doesn't love the freedom part of the country. he likes the ones right now that is destroying the economy.
I can’t stand the Bernie cult, but I don’t think there are many of them. His economic policies would be disastrous if they were implemented, but I don’t think they can be effectively put into practice. Bernie would need a Congress just as radical as he is, so to get anything passed he would have to water down his proposals. My opinion: we could survive Bernie, the “Democratic Party Trump”. So I guess I’m going to vote for Biden. What a weird state of affairs. I voted for GOP presidential candidates for 24 years before Trump and was locally active in the GOP for most of the same period (probably longer because I was a big Reagan fan before I could even vote).
Since I have to pick one of these old fuckers, I’ll take the one that didn’t incriminate himself in a sexual assault deposition. That’s a pretty easy choice. If they both suck, always go with the one who doesn’t have multiple rape accusations/sexual assault conviction as a rule of thumb.
I liked how he led off with the Bernie Cult before flipping it back on the Trumpers. The Bernie cult is your garden variety cult-of-personality. The Trump cult is way weirder. Wayyyyy weirder. Like mentally ill weird.

When it comes to "bread and butter" issues, that's when it gets interesting because people vote with their wallets. In regards to Trump, many legal experts, including many that are Liberal Democrats (including Alan Dershowitz) feel that the charge against the former President won't stand up. Even if he's convicted, they saying that they'll be overturned on Appeal. Even Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg didn't want to prosecute the Case (though he ran for the Office of Manhattan District Attorney saying that he would). A "Pandora's Box" has been opened that shouldn't have been opened.
If the republicans use the election fraud strategy for the general election, they'll have a tough fight on their hands. If the Representative and Senate candidates step up and say election fraud is not an issue they have a chance. They might have to come on out and say there was no fraud, but that depends on how hard Trump goes in the other direction.
Biden's popularity could go up or could go down (basically tracking the economy). I don't think anyone's opinion on Trump is going to change upwards at this stage. So it's a fair prediction assuming these two are the nominees. But in 2 years, lots of things can happen to old men under massive legal and press scrutiny in a country full of crazy people with guns.
It's a lot easier when it's the same two guys running against each other who are basically the same age, and have the same experience as president. Trump can't win because of his age. Who whole brand is having his finger on the pulse of younger people and he's already lost that.

This is why ballots need a “none of the above” option. If that gets the most votes then no one wins and the parties have to choose new candidates for a re-vote.
That scenario has been explored by the Nobel prize winner portuguese author José Saramago in his novel Seeing, the sequel to the his previous novel Blindness. Blindness is about the social and governmental responses of an allegorical global pandemic of blindness, which leads to civilizational collapse and exposes our society's proneness to systemic failure. The protagonist is a woman who is the only one immune to this blindness, as she goes through the horrors having to pretend she is blind, to avoid being exploitdd. Seeing is the sequel, which explores a society that, having regained vision, votes blank on new elections, leading to a radical political crises, now intentionally provoked by the will of the people.

Nah, the US had roughly 60-65% election turnout in 2020 but historically its lower than that.50-60%
So 25-30% of the population vote Dem or Rep, which leaves us with 50-40% of the US population as non voters/swing voters/independant or undecided.

Unless our voting machines secured and we go back to a fill in the bubble ballot. they can predict who wins the popular vote, but have trouble taking the electoral system into account.
This attitude that we are not completely responsible every every last candidate we currently see is rediculous to me. Human beings are not reasonable creatures, we will not choose the the most reasonable candidate (most of our history especially recently). The pendulum swings wildly.

his takes are fascinating. But i feel a topic he has avoided talking about is about the whole Social Justice thing the Left is promoting.
The ones that are the most affected by this are the younger generations.
And i do believe that Zeihan, as a demographic expert, should actually talk about the consequences of this whole ideology.
In my opinion, enforcing things never works out. So its causing the younger generations to be far more divided on ideologies, which is bound to cause a lot of problems once those younger generations take over the labor force as ideological policies could derail the USA's Economy into a downward spiral.

Yes, you are right about the mid terms. However, A lot has happened since the midterms from an economic standpoint. So, feelings might not be the same. Speaking for myself, I'm tired of my income shrinking on a daily basis. I will be voting on the basis of the economy alone. If the economy crumbles, how will anything else matter.
Why do you think the economy is crumbling? A President really can’t control prices. If you think they are too high, talk to the companies who keep the prices high. That’s what capitalism does. Wages are going up, unemployment is going down, stock market is up. Sounds like a good economy to me.

Maybe we couldn't have -every- progressive policy, but I don't understand why we couldn't have a slice of them and move our country back towards the New Deal era where corporations were paying almost 90% tax rates and the middle class was at one of its strongest points in American history
Nobody pays 90% tax. They just announce it to the plebs for political clout, "Look, people, we tax corporations 90%, we're as socially just as the commies" but then the accounting kicks in and the resulting actual tax payments are much lower. The top earners are paying the majority of taxes collected today and 5 and 10 years ago, so i dont see what's the problem with taxes, how can anyone call the current tax rates unfair.
