Floating Our Boat So good to meet up and spend time with you both, the videos get better and better and I’m just chuffed to bits to be in this one! Thank you!!
What an episode! Sorry I'm late to the party but felt I should comment anyway. Stunning piece of history you guys got to witness at that watermill. I bet it felt like you'd almost stepped back in time. Thanks for the tour of the Naughty Lass too! My brief hop onboard meant I couldn't really take a lot in but I love what Robbie has made of his home. I once had to shabby chic an old bureau (Wife didn't like it in original state lol) with chalk paints. Good fun! Hope you made it through the tunnel!!!
I've been following Robbie Cumming long before his TV fame, and he's one of my favourites, along with you guys of course! Lovely videos and landscape, thanks for sharing with us!
We loved when you said watching Robbie helped make your decision and you watched obsessively morning to night! That seems to be us watching you now planning our new life, playing catch up on all of your episodes, and loving the adventure!
First your a lovely couple. Down to earth, you tell it as it is. Love how you describe the old buildings, old trades, water mills, the peaceful countryside, which only on the canal journeys, we can appreciate the tranquility. Freedom to roam, no mad rushing around. As Thomas Hardy's . Far from the madding crowd. Thank you for sharing, what is left of old England, before it fades away. Best wishes .💓💝💗💜💜💛💞💖💕
Uww! Nervous times. As someone mentioned I too hope you got through without to many scratches. Well I hope you just got through. Chuffed to bits that you both met up with Robbie too, see he took you to the pub of the week lol...I’m a bit behind on the vlogs atm. Robbies too, been watching his as well when time allows. Take care folks. 👍
What a cliffhanger!! Great video & lovely to see Boat-tubers getting together 😊 ... Robbie's boat looks so cosy! Hope you made it through the tunnel without too many scrapes to the paintwork 👍
Love the Caldon Canal. Fascinating and fantastically beautiful, once away from the Potteries. Loved the Cheddleton Flint Mill. Our boat was 70ft, so we couldn't get through the Froghall Tunnel. And we had quite some challenge in turning in the last 70ft winding hole before the tunnel.
What a tease.... but a great advert for the Caldon..... and I live there, that is my daily walk amongst that beauty. !! Such a shame I did not get to meet you and the trains were not running - did you not stop at the Black Lion, a great place to watch the trains when they are running. I think you would have done very well to get through the tunnel, we did get under the gauge but only just and only just got through the tunnel. Looking forward to the next episode !
Hi Nev. we did get to see the trains from the Black Lion. what a wonderful location. lots of lovely walks around there too. you are lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
I loved the Caldon but didn't try the tunnel. I hope you made it. Great to see you meet Robbie. I saw the narrowboat chefs this week. You never know when you'll come across a RUclipsr these days.
A cliffhanger! The suspense is killing me! Jess, earlier in the vlog had me crackin' up, her acting the little demon! Just love the doggos! Anyway, can't wait to hear how the tunnel journey turns out! ...and how cool to get to meet Robbie! Beautiful, beautiful country, too.
i'm with you, it's gorgeous. don't forget the leek branch, there is a beautiful mooring next to a bench seat, overlooking the valley. well worth a night there.
Ohhh...and here's me, terrible at waiting ! 😆 ...looking forward to the next video 🤞 ...and I agree, absolutely stunning area, I wanted to be walking along the towpath, just beautiful 🙂
Omggggggg... talk about a cliffhanger ending 😲😲😲...will you or won't you go through? exciting stuff...😎👌 Ahhhh Robbie's one of my faves too and I think the very first boat-tuber I watched 😁
That was fascinating, and enjoyed meeting Robbie. I went and subscribed to his channel...thank you for that. Loved this video. One of my favorite. Merry Ann from Minnesota
Hi Merry Ann. Sorry you have had trouble with my Etsy account. If you want to email me on constanzecreations@gmail.com I can arrange payment and send your swan wall hanging to you directly. I don't know why you had trouble, but I'm sure we can sort it out Fran xx
Great video, love the aerial shots too 👍 We visit the Churnet Valley Railway quite often, can recommend it for a day out. Also the Black Lion at Consal is also worth a visit.
What a wonderful vlog! And thanks for not playing music so we can hear the birds singing and the sounds of the countryside and canal which I personally love to hear. Now to wait to see if you make it through the tunnel???
Hi, just came across your channel whilst watching RUclips. We’ve all got to find things to do during this period of lockdown and I’m looking forward very much to watching your vlogs. Stay safe and keep healthy. Happy narrowboating.
Love robbie hes slacking on his vlogs 🤣 he helped me before buying a boat watching his vlogs aswell and he was filming alot of trent area where iam now moored so very handy
That was great seeing Robbie in your travels . Leaving us in suspense when you get to the tunnel if your going to fit , i hope you did as will be a great trip through for us too :-)
Hi from New Zealand, we have finally caught up with all your videos! And we are thoroughly enjoying following your journey. A few years ago we travelled to Llangollen and out to Chester, spent two weeks on the canal. We just loved it, and if we lived in England, we would have bought a canal boat by now for sure. Looking forward to more of your videos, thanks.
Looking well both!.. brilliant vlog, can’t wait to see how you get on through the tunnel 😬🤞good times... I also know just how excited you feel when you get the chance to meet your favourite RUclipsr 😉
What a great video with a cliffhanger 😂 hope you made it through the tunnel. Great to see Robbie his boat looks great after repaint. Keep on cranking it 😂😂👍
So glad you're enjoying our home canal! I always thought you would. We never wander far due to time constraints but never feel hard done to, we love it. Hope you get through the tunnel, we got well stuck in our first boat but we scrape through now with a full water tank, worth it to get to Hettys xx
I'm not a very spiritual person, just ask God, he'd probably start giggling. There is something about the canals and surrounding area that just seams almost supernatural for lack of a better term. I thing it's the link between the ones that have come and gone before us. All that design and construction that you use today is almost like the ones that built it are pleased that your enjoying it. Why else would they have built it so magnificently. Maybe i'm just a little strange, but it is something very special. I can't imagine what it's like to actually be there and experience something so unique. I enjoy the both of you and your obvious closeness with each other.
I know exactly what you mean. Some parts of the canal seem so unchanged, you can really imagine the working boats going up and down. We often stop and wonder at the amount of work involved in building these canals . What a mammoth task. It is wonderful that it is still being used, enjoyed and even restored. I wonder how people who worked so hard while living on working boats would feel about it being a place of leisure these days?
What?!!? You stopped filming right before the tunnel! Hope you made it through, and lived to film another video. I'll be waiting with bated breath. Beautiful scenery.
Hi Rich & Fran, great vlog, especially enjoyed seeing my other favourite youtuber crank it Robbie. Missed not seeing him for a while , hope he is ok. Are you doing the Leek canal as well?
You guys have left us with a cliffhanger! did you reverse out, did you make it or are the Fire Brigade currently digging you out? Waiting for tomorrow to watch Episode 56. Cheers :-) R & T x
Great video , my 2 favourite RUclips channels on the same video , hahaha I laughed my head off when Rich got on Robbie's tiller and said crank it ,Robbie needs to get his finger out and start making some more videos, its almost 2 month since his last one, hope you got through the tunnel, good luck, Take care and crank it lol ,ATB Paul
My favourite youtubers in one place! Robbie- I'm single!!! I didn't get as far up the Caldon as you, so missed out on that stunning scenery. Great video as always, your story telling and videography are just beautiful xx
Oh no! I’m on the edge of my sofa!! I think you did the right thing to go for it but obviously you will know if that was right by now 😳 I also love Robbie, he’s one of the originals along with Cruising the Cut and the Narrowboat Experience. There are a lot more channels now but like you I watched those early channels eagerly and probably had the confidence to buy my boat because of them. I also love Robbie’s presentation style and his music, which as you’ll know he composes himself. He’s very charismatic and talented. Thanks for another great video with two of my favourite RUclipsrs. I can’t wait for the next video!
Hello from Denver! Good to see Robbie and the Naughty Lass. It had occurred to me that I hadn't seen them in a while and I too watched a good many of his videos last year. I can always be interested in a 'Pub of the Week'. I enjoy your videos for the sense I get that: if I were to find myself in England, and if I were to find myself on a narrowboat, and if I could persuade my wife to join me, that our approach would be similar to yours. Since that last "if" is really in question, your videos my be the closest thing to being there for me. If you end up stuck in this tunnel, I *will* miss you.:)
Every time I watch one of these narrow boat vedios, I go and buy a few lotto numbers....a win & I will buy one of them narrowboats & disappear forever in one of those canal systems. 😊
The wild garlic or Ransomes is not as strong as regular garlic but you can eat all of it. Good steamed gently or flowers with a cheese sandwich. With a good clump and roots intact should grow readily in a flowerpot, guaranteed supply then. Years ago we "transplanted some into pots and did precisely that. The bits i put in the car for friends stunk the car out for months. 👍
yo guys glad to see you enjoying my neck of the woods be sure to stop off at consall forge and check out the old lime kilns they are early 19 th century i was a member of a group in the mid 70s that started the restoration of said kilns we used to stay over night at week ends in the white cottage opposite that was waterways owned then enjoy the rest of your journey {:-) PAV
We loved it at Consall forge and did wander around the old lime kilns. Im not sure if we have good footage, but there may be some on the next video. That's if we ever get out of this tunnel!!!!
Hi Fran and Rich. Another episode so soon after the last? You’re really spoiling us. Thanks for a great vlog but you guys are cruel for ending on a cliffhanger. Did you make it through or not? Also great to see Robbie Cumming. I subscribe to his channel and was wondering where he got to. Come on Robbie. Don’t keep your fans waiting too much longer.
Hi Andy, Robbie is fine and working really hard. Sorry about the cliffhanger but it just had to be done. All will be revealed in tonights follow up episode x
Blimey, this is more of a cliff hanger than going down the Ulanna (ha ha!!), a bit like the old days of serials we used to watch and listen to!, " will the dynamic duo make it through?????, join us next week for the next thrilling installment!", we seem to have a lot of wild garlic up here, if you get up to Barnton near the Anderton boat lift there is lots there also, the dogs seem really happy the little one made me laugh running around in circles, happy days, hope the railway is open when you return, they have a WW2 re-enactment on from the 24th to the 27th, 1940sbyrail.co.uk/ if your in the area still, thanks for another good video. Albert
Thank you Albert. we were determined to cook with the wild garlic, but didn't get round to it and now I can't find any. You could smell it everywhere at Froghall and such a pretty plant.
It nay be a bit time consuming to add them to the videos but if you follow us on facebook and instagram, I'll try to start putting some pics on there as other people have also asked.. Thanks for your comment Fran x
Thanks to Robbie for being a great host we had a fab time in his company.

It is a great way to learn all about this life before to take the leap

We are seeing such beautiful English landscape . Thank you
Great stuff! I may add bicycling the canals as a bucket list item. So pretty.
Robbie is also of my small band of favourite youtubers all ways cheerfull
GREAT VIDEO! You would not believe how close the city is, to that outstanding place of beauty!

Jess is such a funny little dog. She was a rescue, and when we picked her up she was named 'Lisa' !
@@FloatingOurBoat Oh my gosh!
Fran, I just absolutely LOVE your pom-pom cap that you are wearing at 3:43 in this video! truly lovely!
Thank you. I thought it had been put away for the summer, but winter came back and bit us on the bum, so the bobble hat came out again!
Met Robbie when he was cruising the Chesterfield. A great guy and so self-effacing.
Watching from Tasmania, Australia....
Love your videos......
Beautiful video very beautiful landscape, with very nice people

Episode 55 was so very "English" beautiful moist wild flowers then a 'CliffHanger'. I'm going to watch it all over again ..
What a wonderful vlog! And thanks for not playing music so we can hear the birds singing and the sounds of the countryside and canal which I personally love to hear. Now to wait to see if you make it through the tunnel???
Love the Caldon Canal. One of the hidden gems of the canal system.
Hi, just came across your channel whilst watching RUclips. We’ve all got to find things to do during this period of lockdown and I’m looking forward very much to watching your vlogs. Stay safe and keep healthy. Happy narrowboating.
Welcome aboard Barry 👍
The editing at the beginning of this vlog makes you look like a time traveller Rich. Great stuff! Love all that you do.
Awww...I love Robbie! I started watching him before watching you guys. This is so cool. I enjoy my 'journeys' with you all.
i love going the flint mill its only 10 min drive, they once had a lot of the old tools stolen..
Love robbie hes slacking on his vlogs 🤣 he helped me before buying a boat watching his vlogs aswell and he was filming alot of trent area where iam now moored so very handy
Robbie is working really hard, so you may have to be patient. In the meantime, you're stuck with us!
Nice camera work. Very enjoyable video. Nice to have friends who think like you do.
Thank you, Robbie is a really great guy.
I've read nothing in the news, so I'm guessing you made it out, either one end or the other :-) Stunning looking location, I agree.

Another quality vid 😎 if you're moored near the station on the return, then the Black Lion at Consal Forge is well worth a visit 😎

It nay be a bit time consuming to add them to the videos but if you follow us on facebook and instagram, I'll try to start putting some pics on there as other people have also asked.. Thanks for your comment
