@@paulomoniz Petrucci played a lot of these riffs in the early 90s, so many people were waiting for him to finally record it instead of listening to recordings from namm and rock discipline
It is good, although I would've preferred it with no background rhythm of any kind, It would have reminded me of Opeth though but at least would not sound folkloric latino
I got tears in my eyes when I listen to this song. While I was listening this song I was the 15 years old boy who was sitting in front of the tv and was listening to Rock Discipline....Already 16 years ago.
Hahaha theres always a dude who gets to comment the best comment first. Cheers mate. And yeah, seconds into this track, i knew i heard it before from one of his clips (RD)
Yeah that was one of the intro pieces i think. After watching Rock Discipline I lost the will to play guitar. Coz John Petrucci told me to “Go kill yourself.” 😐
Very nostalgic song .. Riffs from Rock Discipline. I always ask myself why John doesn't rec this on his first album solo! He prepared a great surprise for us! Thank you John for this
Listen to Mike from 3:28. What kind of rich support is that? Truly perfect for the song's chemistry. Mangini is amazing but he can never reach this kind of dedicated and sold-soul feeling level. His playing always gave me shivers.
I can't remember how many times i've pressed the replay button already. And every single one slaps me in the face. I can't get enough from 3:28 to the end. MAN! WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! THIS IS... SO!!! AMAZING!!!
Did anyone get all the dream theater here? The emotional solo is super old from 1995 once in a live time and the other parts are from various dt albums in different variations! This track is so amazing and just gave me the chills
The Al DiMeola influences are so evident in this track, both acoustically and electrically. Shades of the Elegant Gypsy years and late 70s fusion + the big Dream Theater orchestrations. Jaw dropping. Never thought I'd hear new music like that again.
3:30 WOW,do you guys remember the acoustic parts in Another Dimension by Liquid Tension Experiment. It's so reminiscent, listen to the percussion,it's like a succession 20+ years later!
All of his influences shine here. His use of pinch harmonics, double bends, slipping into chromatic scale....its all there. But unmistakable is Mike Portnoys' work. Nobody uses cymbals with such great effect like Mike. I love this track!
Phenomenal! And to think, Mike Portnoy recorded his drums to the final guitar tracks (instead of guitars being recorded to the final drum tracks). It sounds amazing! A testament to Mike's abilities. John, you are the man. The performance, the arrangement, the production, the everything. Just stellar.
The Powerhouse John Petrucchi and The Drumsgod Mike Portnoy Showed their Ultimate level Classical Performance in Spirit Carries On Score and by These Album they Just Showed their Ultimate level Metallic Performance ........ Hats off !!!

There was another song he played in his "Rock Discipline" video toward the end where he was demonstrating chord theory. I really hope he releases that song someday. For those of you who are wondering what I am talking about, the song starts at 1:44:50 in his instructional video.
Thanks for uploading the full album John! I started to listen a bit earlier, and ended with this song. At the moment it's my favorite! And I'm so happy to hear you playing with Mike again, it's amazing! Almost Christmas! Cheers from France! 🍻
I'll learn it one day i hope.
That song is a gift to all of us who grew up with Rock Discipline!
Definitively
Word! I remember borrowing licks off the original Rock Discipline verison.
Yes👍
OMG. It was my Go-To lick I would play to myself for years to get something flowing
John Petrucci + Mike Portnoy = Absolute Greatness
when you add that with the time we waited it...
I’d like them back in DF.
+ Dave LaRue amazing bassist
That would be a good album name.
It's the perfect combination without some whiny guy belting out imperceptable lyrics over it.
That Spanish Guitar part... What a monster
What a time to be alive !

Finally all his ideas came to light, I remember listening the main muted lick into the "Rock Discipline" guitar lessons. Well done Master!
Yeahhhh. that riff its so good. It appears also in the John Petrucci´s Psycho Exercices video lessons, hahahah
Yup, I remember it too

It took 25 years Gemini to get shine, so much nostalgia in this song
I almost cried when I heard it because of this, no joke.

Very Di Meola like
It is good, although I would've preferred it with no background rhythm of any kind, It would have reminded me of Opeth though but at least would not sound folkloric latino
You're right, but imagine this with a real spanish guitar, instead of an electric with a piezo. I don't know why JP doesn't take that aproach.
@@MrBluesboy21 pretty sure he said in an interview somewhere that this is on a gypsy jazz d hole guitar

Petrucci on an acoustic is a revelation, a beautiful sound with beautiful chops, a lovely distillation of Morse and DiMeola.
