Yeah kinda not great to him... though, to be fair, it's a John Petrucci album, which means not only that the guitar will be the primary focus, but also that it will be in a certain style where the bass is not very prominent. And I'm sure he is aware of that. Drums are much more important to this style of music, especially with weird time signatures like in this song, and of course the guitar is the center spotlight. They're also both very noticeable, whereas the bass really isn't gonna be heard, or noticed very easily. You have to listen for it. So it's understandable that LaRue's not getting nearly as much attention, and I think he is probably okay with it as well.
I'm just listening to John Petrucci for the 2nd day. I'm getting blown away!!! How can anyone be so amazing on the guitar?!!!! I'm running out of superlatives. It's equally amazing that I've survived this long without hearing John Petrucci play. I don't know whether to sell my guitar, or to stop eating so I have more time to practice 😢.
I'm right there with ya bro. Problem is, the listening to JP part cuts into my practice time, which I have to do more of if I'm ever gonna learn his stuff (it takes hours each day!)
Yeah, like every fucking song can stand on its own as amazing. Not sure if he signed a deal in blood with the devil or something lol. Could you imagine him and Friedman playing a collab together?
@@ProgSnob14he can't play like mangini?? what are you talking about haven't you Listen to " Temple of circadia" the song is similar to " bridges in the sky" so Mp can play mangini part
This song is badass, especially from 3:13 on.... Gonna crank it up in my new Cybertruck next year when I pick it up in Austin and go hunting for some glass-eyed zombies.
Feel the toxic atmosphere in the first part, the second are zombies going to eat your brain, war against few humans and lots of zombies. It's incredible how this track simply describes all these scenarios without a word. The tridimensionality of the guitars is the icing to the cake. My favourite track of this album with temple of circadia, hard metal applied perfectly.
John petrucci is back, is like god going down to Earth a little bit to give us a taste of his divinity LOL. I WAS ALL DAY LONG LISTING TO THIS, IM HEADBANGING ALL DAY LONG WITH THIS HEAVY RIFFS !! THANKS PETRUCCI FOR THIS
Pretty insane. Kind of reminds me of Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) a little. He was one of the first I heard use that sound and technique with speed like that (With an obvious nod to Shawn Lane.)
Oh my lord! Mike and Jhon please make records more often! You guys are such an inspiration for thousands of smaller musicians like me! I feel like playing guitar and drums at the same time wtf!!!??? Amazing !!!!!!
Portnoy is like the salt and pepper of that soup
Yeah man really that. Mangine look like a lemon haha.
Wanderson Mike M is just fine.
@@Killerklownsfromouterspace meh
EdrumSense Hang on, I’ll get the tissue.
Killerklownsfromouterspace There will always be a Mike Portnoy shaped hole in Dream Theater.
Something magical about these two, when they collaborate.
Yeah, no kidding. Heart n soul of DT.
Dont forget Dave on Bass... he is incredible too...
Yeah! A truely master. His bass solo on warfinger by planet x on live from oz álbum?? A perfect bass máster!
Davie504???? lol
And billy shihann
He basicaly learned Petrucci riffs

Larue is amazing, but given the circumstances....one thing really stuck out about this album!
“John Petrucci”
Portnoy always very detalist in the cimbals, portnoy is other level.
Vocals are amazing
I hate vocals. Just want that sweet guitar and drums
@@lord_MangZ r/wooooosh
Way Better than labrie
Imagine this line up with Russel Allen, the universe just exploded.
Hahahaha vocals that was good.
Just when you thought John was slacking off on his alternate picking he gives you a train of notes... We love you Mr. Petrucci 😁
The best way to spend 6 minutes of your life.
Highly recommended.

Holy shit, that ending was brutal
I think the friendship between Portnoy and Petrucci brings more inspiration to both. Amazing!!
MP's cymbal work is just from another planet 🔥
Open hi-hats too.
Incredible, this gives me inspiration to practice all day and do nothing else except listen to Petrucci 🤘🤘🤘
I'm right there with ya bro. Problem is, the listening to JP part cuts into my practice time, which I have to do more of if I'm ever gonna learn his stuff (it takes hours each day!)
I definitely can relate. Never felt more inspired to practice than after hearing JP's sick riffs
The best guitarist ever
And don't forget the best drummer too Mike Portnoy. They're beast went come up with new kind of music
@@joejr6103 yes ofcourse!!
best, no, good yes
@Vecxio you can disagree. but i dont think its foolish at all. who do you think is better?
@Vecxio let's remember it's just a matter of taste, he was just giving his opinion.
Anyone else realise they were not breathing at the end of this? Thumbs up Mr Petrucci!
Portnoy kicks ass on this! They all do, actually! 😍❤️🔥😍❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍😍😍❤️
Vince Palamara! Vince Paramala!!
I realized that it's impossible to drive the speed limit while listening to that solo, especially at the end.
I don't know where he draw inspiration for all of this. I mean seriously.. I'm already addicted to this album.

Portnoy amd Petrucci are the bread and butter of music
Impression on first drum beat that is king MP!
Interesting fact. Mike Portnoy kept some parts that Mike Mangini wrote for the song. But added his own flavors
BuT hE cAn'T pLaY lIkE mAnGiNi!?!?!
@@ProgSnob14 But also there is no need to play like Mangini. :)

WTF, man?!
Now you how this is important hahahaha
Portnoy is superstar
He is the other half of the god.
I think if MP dropped a surprise metal album and was like hey, I got JP on guitar, everyone would be like JAYYYYYPEEEEEEEEE
We're just stoked to see the dream team back together.
Dave LaRue🖤
@3:47 Petrucci starts slayimg the dragons!!!!!
4:33 TO 5:36 BEAST ON FIRE MODE
damage control pt. 2 :)

Damn, didn't realize this...
🇧🇷 Petrucci e Portnoy essa é a fórmula mágica!
Verdade mano ,tomare que o portnoy volte para o Dream 🙏
🤔😉👍
Great to see John and mike working together again
The best example of the Petrucci sound. I'd brand it "chewy glass".
James LaBrie finally nailed the vocals 👍
Absolutely! Do not forget outstanding John Myung's lyric :)
C'mon guys..Ain't fun anymore.
Praise the guitar gods!
Good job John! But don't wait another 15 years to make your next album. I love your music since your first solo album.
Reminds me of Awake. Love it.
Loved that ending. Hellyeah !!!
This guy's not a human!
John petrucci and Mike portnoy combination wow 😍feels like black clouds and silver lining a rite of passage.
Heavy, very heavy, feeling, a mix of sensations, very John Petrucci style ...

This is the original DT i fell in love with right here. Crazy progression.
Wow!!...Amazing Complex Time
what a monumental level on dynamics and production petrucci has take...15 years of waiting has it bonus!!
The fastest alternate picking of John Petrucci !!!
