0:28 Really does remind me of "Scottie doesn't know", I think it's at least a step or two down though and the melody is slightly different, but similar enough for more than one person to pick up on it and come here to leave a comment 😆
I find it funny that almost nobody recognizes this song from the G3 Tour 8 years ago, back then it was called Cloud Ten, been waiting for this to officially come out for so long, glad it's finally here!
John and Mike didn't even join up in person to lay tracks. John had all tracks pre-recorded then sent them to mike to lay drums to them. John P. is playing bass too on many of these songs.
Willace Wallace Wrong pup. Watch the Petrucci interview with Ola. The tracks were done but Mike stayed at Johns house for a week and did the drum tracks in his studio.
@@Killerklownsfromouterspace I did see the Ola bit. My point was that the tracks were laid down and that's that. No rearranging and recording tracks together. According to the interview, John said "here are the tracks they're not moving"
@Sebastian You need to chill. The one riff in this song is clearly inspired by pop punk. No one is insulting John Petrucci or taking away from the complexities of his music by acknowledging that.
Once a friend asked me what makes me happy? I said good music! Then I got an incomprehensible questioning look! I think only people who make or have made music understand that! Just sit there, close your eyes, and enjoy, not everyone can! This song put a smile on my face and had this tingling sensation several times that ran down my neck! Petrucci and Portnoy are simply the best musicians! Absolute perfection!

I hope John Petrucci join Kiko Loureiro for a G2 and both play all the respective songs from Terminal Velocity and Open Source, two of the best solo album from decade
I’m just really glad that MP fills the drum of this whole album, especially after watching an old video called “Cloud ten” with MM as drummer. As a former drummer that covers DT song in the past I respect them both, but MP fills on drums just give a different energy and vibe to the song and makes me wanna bang my head so much that I time traveled to 2021.
It's not fair compare both of them from this song. Back then MM only there to be an additional player to support JP fill in the drums so there's no thought process coming, just the basic of the song and a bit of practice time and I think MM did a good job. In this one, MP is full-time drummer for this album so there's a lot prep and time to perfect the song. But yeah I'm glad that they finally make music together again after a decade and I respect both Mike!
