David Moe- What kind of terrain are we talking? Best all around? Keep in mind the further the gap between the tread the rougher the ride on compact surfaces like roads, trails ect. hope this helps!

Thanks Drysen. That hepled. I think I'm going to go with the ITP Blackwater evolutions in 25s because they are an 8 ply radial, which means the rocks won't ruin my tire. In NY all you will see is rock. Lol. But since they are also good for mud that's a plus. Now it's just the rims that I'm searching!

Nice video I had 33 ATV in my Life Time and a lot of Tires the CST Sludge Hammer tires are the best all round tire I have them on my outlander and my commander the smooth on trail road and in the mud I have the 28 hammers and love
My cabin is 24 km over bug baron marsh land good on snow they work on it all I know guys with 15000 km on them with 1/4 in lug left you wont find a better all round tire have a great day

I would like to have seen the mud lite xl and xxl in comparison to the mud lite tire you showed. My renegade 650 xmr came with ( mega mayhem ) 28" tires on 12" wheels and it is proving difficult to find tires that size. I dropped down to 27" on 12" wheels to get more choices but would rather maintain the original ground clearance. there seams to be a lack of choices for that size in trail tires like the terra cross, those mega mayhem are rough on trail riding / rocky roads.

Ok I'm looking for a tire for my 2017 yamaha grizzly. I ride in New England so I run across everything. I find myself constantly changing my mind so if you could help I would appreciate it.
I have a 2011 750 Kawasaki Brute Force I am thinking about 28 inch Mega mayhems but I do a lot of trail riding and mud riding but as everyone knows when it's a mud riding time you want to do the best that's why I'm thinking about the mega mayhem's and 28 but I also don't want to ruin the ride on trails. So what I be better off going with a different tire then the Mega Mayhem 28 in?
Any idea how the Blackwater Evo's perform in places like Moab? Sandstone, rocky ledges, rock crawling and plentyof sand. I also do a lot of mountain trail riding. Hard pack, mud and sharp rock. I think these would be a good all around tire for me.

I have a '22 can am outlander 1000xt, really makes me mad that the tires are even or in the rim a bit. My rims are all scratched up from the rocks. Is there a way to get tires/wheels that the wheels tuck into the tires more so they don't get destroyed?

Great review! I have a 2013 Honda Rancher 420AT and I was wondering whether or not I should put ITP Blackwater Evolutions on it or Maxxis Bighorns. I was also wondering if I should do 25s or 26s. I was leaning towards 26s but didn't realize the fact of power loss so now im leaning towards 25s. Advice would be appreciated!

Thanks Dylan! I'm excited you found it beneficial! Both the Blackwater Evolution and the Bighorns are designed to play in light mud, but recommended more for trail riding. If you want more mud performance, I personally lean towards the ITPs. In mud I would stick with the 25" to avoid power loss. If you are staying to the trails more, you shouldn't notice much of a problem running 26", and you'll have a little more clearance. Enjoy the ride! -Drysen
Hi I'm in the market for new atv tire. I've been looking at these and kenda bearclaw and possibly kenda bearclaw htr. I have a honda foreman 500 and tend to ride pretty aggressively. I plan on mainly doing trail riding with the occasional mud hole after heavy rain and I will be riding in winter but on groomed trails. my problems is the area iv had the chance to ride in of yet has long extensive dirt road sections and some pavement section and I don't want a tire that will wear out quickly .of you have any suggestions please let me know. ( when summer come I plan on driving out of town to find proper trails whenever I get the chance)

How do you find sludgehammer ?
Do you know if they will fit the commander in 30".
Is sludgehammer as good as the Gorilla Silverback Tire in deep mud ?
I travel a lot alone in mud no trees to hook winch on so I need the best mud tire . I use bighorns on hard pack . I use 2 sets of wheels .

What tire and wheel pack age would u recommend for a honda 250 mud tire wize
Hey Gregory, I ran over and spoke with one of our off-road Tech Guys to get his opinion on what would be best for your machine. We agreed that since you're running a 250 Honda, you won't wont to waste any HP by trying to turn super heavy tires, so we came up with the ITP Mud Lite AT tires. Great off-road capabilities, including mud. I have a 2009 Yamaha Grizzly 700 with stock tires, I am leaning towards the ITP mayhem or the Mudlite XTR tire. I do mostly trail riding and clearing snow but I do like to play in the mud when I get the chance. Which tire would you with? I am looking a 26" tire with a 12" rim.

Would mega mayhems run good on my 2014 can am renegade 500?
You shouldn't have much on an issue going from a 25" to a 27". It will be a little harder to turn the tires, so I highly recommend putting a clutch spring upgrade in at the same time. Have fun! -Drysen

How heavy are the blackwater evolution compared to the bighorns

Hey Brandon! Sorry its taken so long for me to get back to you. I got married over the weekend, and didn't have a chance to answer comments. Back to your question - I just took the 2 tires to the scale to get you an exact difference. Keep in mind, I had a hard time finding the exact size in both tires, so this is a slight apples to oranges comparison. A Maxxis Bighorn 27x9R-12 tipped the scale at 24.9 lbs., while the ITP Blackwater Evolution 27x9R-14 came in at 28.2 lbs. With the difference in rim size being 2 inches, I would estimate these tires weigh pretty much the same. Hope this helps! -Drysen

Hey Ryan!Personally, I'm a big fan of the ITP Mud Lite series, but I'd need to know more about your machine. Because the Mud Lite series offers such a large amount of bite, I would recommend these with a larger CC machine, and perhaps even a clutch spring kit. I have a 2012 rincon 680. I have a gear reduction. Would my machine pull tha monster mayhems in some soupy Mudd.
It's a good question, and ultimately I think it depends on what size of tires you are looking at. Even with the gear reduction, I would be worried about larger tires not spinning fast enough to clean the tread and get a fresh bite.
