  • When the weather conditions are not working in your favour, don't be negative about it - work with what you've got and find something else to photograph.
This week I'm at Whitby in North Yorkshire, with the Nikon Z7 and 70-200mm F2.8 lens, capturing images from around the harbour and town centre.

Great video Robert, you got some good captures I liked the image of the arcade with the low down shot using the reflections from the puddles. 🐕👌

Cheers John - I guess that's one good thing about the rain! I'd love to do some photography in Tokyo with those kind of conditions. Thanks a lot for watching. 😊

Great video Robert! One of my best photography experiences ever was spending several hours photographing the abbey in Whitby while my wife and son explored. Loved the look around Whitby in this video. Some really great shots in this one, especially the jetty at 7:11, the hot dog stand at 9:00, and my fav was Funland at 11:55! Great stuff as always mate! Hope you are doing well!

Yeah, it's great when you get some fog up there - really atmospheric. I would like to get back there for the Goth festival too. Appreciate you checking the video out mate. 😊

Whitby is always great for photos. I heard that both piers are closed at the moment awaiting repairs from the storm damage. I don't blame you for abandoning your vlogging gear, I remember back to last February trying to record audio with the wind blowing in off the sea. The hot dog stand and the funland images were my favourites, mainly because they aren't the usual Whitby shots. That looked a decent sized lens pen you have - what brand/model is it.

Cheers Andrew. They were closed, yeah. Although there were some guys down at the end fishing, so guessing they hopped the barrier! The lens pen brand is actually called LensPen. I've been using the same one for about 3 years now! Cheers for watching. 😊

Thanks for another great one Robert! Working with what you got is probably the essence of outdoor photography. Out of curiosity, how often do you go out for photowalks?

Thanks. Just once per week in winter. I'm working Monday to Friday, Saturday is video editing day and so I have to take whatever conditions I get on the Sunday! As the days get longer I can start to get out in the mornings and evenings on weekdays though. Thanks for watching. 😊

Great video. Curious to know what the pen you used to dry the lens?

Thanks Alan. There are several brands that do them, but this one is by a company that's actually called Lenspen. They're generally good for removing grease and dirt - but also work well for removing rain spots. They have a handy brush on the other end for getting rid of dust too. I find them much more convenient than cloths.
