- I will be reviewing Glow's new Octabox that is extremely portable. Im pairing it with my AD300 Pro. This is something the AD200 Pro could never do. Glow's parasnap comes with the Bowens Mount along with the Godox Mount as well (Sold Separately) This lightweight combo is a GAMECHANGER

I got the 36 inch parasnap. GAMECHANGER!! This soft box is gonna make outdoor portraits so much easier. Going to a location and then walking around to different locations at that spot is going to make setting up my light stand each time a breeze. I have seven other soft boxes all from glow And this by far is the best and quickest soft box I have used. The material is super durable and it looks like it’s going to hold up for a long time. And the hinge is pretty sturdy. I’m super happy with it. Great video thanks for sharing

@@RyanTroy I do about 50 senior portraits sessions a year not including all the other outdoor family photos. This modifier is gonna cut down so much set of time just going from one spot to the other. I have there ez lock soft boxes in the 28 inch deep parabolic and their 38 inch deep parabolic. Their umbrella style openings are nice but are still a little bit of a pain in the butt. This new modifier yes exactly like you said in your video. It’s quick it’s made of some damn good material. It’s like a stretchy material and I took a couple portrait sessions with it already and I think I’m sticking with just the 36 inch. Seems like every time I want to go above 40 inches with a soft box it’s too windy out and my light stand blows over. Or at least tries to blow over. I do wish that came with the grid. For that amount of money I think it should have. But this is the most expensive soft box I bought and as of right now it’s totally worth it

@@RyanTroy I just got mine yesterday. I bought the 36 inch and it is a game changer. Someone had mentioned how they like that it collapses when you’re going from room to room. I get three light qualities out of this one softbox. High-efficiency with no inner or outer diffusion, in between high-efficiency and soft light with just the inner diffusion and with the inner and outer diffusion I get a masterpiece! Love it!!!
Great convenience, definitely a “want” item over a “need” item. Especially with the AD300 still sitting in my Amazon Cart lol. Anyways, appreciate you putting together this vid to showcase the Para Snap.

I actually consifer it a need if you do a lot of on location shoots, especially when you change locations that require you to break down in any way. This has become one of my top of the list items for next purchase...

UPDATING MY FIRST COMMENT! The Parasnap 36inch is my #1 softbox. I used it for all 60 sessions I had with my senior portraits all outside sessions. And moving from location to the next setting up my light stand is so quick and easy that my sessions are shorter with so little setup time now. Worth every penny. Now it on sale for $150 and I picked up a second one just for a spare. What have noticed compared to my other glow softboxes is the Parasnap material is so much more durable to the older material on the older EZ Locks . Just about every soft box has cracks in the material just from opening and closing it. I mean hairline cracks that you can’t tell until you turn the modeling light on you can see right through it. But I still like the soft boxes, but the newer Parasnap has a more stretchy material that just holds up
Now I have been contemplating the Ad300 since it’s come out. But the $500 price tag just was too much when you can get an AD600 for the same price. Now since it’s $325 for Black Friday I think I may pick up 2 of them and replace my ad200’s with them. Did they ever upgrade the light stand mount to keep it from fall?turning down even though it’s tight?

I got 2 300Pros to replace my old AD360s. I skipped the AD200s because I like the modeling light and recycling time of the 300s. I also take advantage of the Godox mount to help keep my gear compact. Part of what I think you covered in the video you mentioned at the end. My run and gun my 300s and V1s all day.

If I didn't already have all the ad-s softboxes with the godox mount, this would be a thing to highly consider. I picked up the Angler (B&H's SMDV brand) fastbox 24" to use with my ad100 for indoor run and gun work and maybe some outdoor stuff where you need just a kiss of light. And that has been great. Only thing I like that SMDV did over Glow is that handle with the button controlled tilt and twist lock. If Glow had that handle on the Parasnap, it'd be game over with their easier plate changing system on the back without a doubt. But I agree. The ease of use of the Parasnap combined with the lightweight aspect of the 300 is a killer combo!

Thank you SO much for sharing some behind the scenes footage... you have no idea how helpful that is to get a feel for what you're talking about vs. just showing us photos you took with the product. That said, your work is absolutely stunning. Are you using an ND filter with the AD300 to get your backgrounds dark enough or are you using HSS? I love how small and portable the AD300 is, but I'm worried about having enough wattage to overpower the sun outdoors and curious what method you use to get the results you do. Thanks so much!
I use high speed sync with the 300. It can be done if the light is close. I have a video on the ad300 you should check it out when you have time. Its one of the videos it recommends at the end

Crap. I just realized something. Is my ezGlow beauty dish with built in Bowens ring not going to mount to this light? I thought the front of the ad300 is a Bowens style but the notches look way wider. 🤦♂️
@@keithkreatives I'm sure you know by now but for anyone else reading: You just need a Godox S2 bracket. Sucks to need to bring something extra I agree 100% but theres also a bowens adapter that you can install on the unit itself but it obviously adds girth. The one beautiful thing about the 400 is it's both godox proprietary mount AND bowens.
I actually just picked up the AD100 Pro, it's my first light that has a built-in modeling light. LOVE it. I also have a pair of little TT350N's, which are great too. But yes that AD300 is next up on my list. Curious what stand you're using too. Thanks Ryan!

Hmmmmmm need to buy inserts, doesnt come with grid, hefty price ........ this is looking more and more like manny beauty dish besides the collapsable feature. Does it have double diffusion and interior color options. The ad300 combo is unmatched though for portability but do you like the parasnap combo better than the 33.4 deep para that can attach to the ad300 with the mount integrated? Good video.
you can buy the godox mount version. i bought the bowens then bought the godox speed ring so i could have both and its only like 20 bucks.. but the manny ortiz dish was just another softbox. it was more durable than the Ez Locks that Glow Makes but you can tell this separates the Parasnap from the Ez Lock. this is just a solid lightstand.
I already had the 32in smdv flipbox but they don’t carry a bowens mount to attached a strobe like the ad600. I did the only other thing that I could and is to get this one the parasnap 36. Even tho the ad600pro is much heavier this set up has its advantages.
How are the paras snap Soft box for RUclips Talking Heads video shots? I’d like something that breaks down easy also 36 or 44 inch ?

I have this softbox in the original manufacturers form. The SMDV Flip 36. There's also a SMDV Flip 44 as well. I bought mine way before way before Adorama's Glow ParaSnap. The only thing with the SMDV is the diffusion is permanently attached. I have a video on my channel of me using it.

I am contemplating gettin the xplor 600 pro ttl...what are your thoughts in comparison of the ad300?
I’m so sad that I took me this long to respond. If you are thinking of getting the 600 that means you have the money for it. Now if you are wanting it for outside yes the 600 is a beast but sometimes it may be too much and you don’t need the power. I would suggest getting the 400. Now if you need it for a mix of outside and studio but you do more studio.. I would say get the 600
I purchased both the 36" & 44" version. I bought them both with the xplor 300 mount, but apparently this is not the right mount to directly mount on the Godox AD300. Is there a mount available that I can purchase to directly mount these softboxes on the Godox AD300 Pro?

What stand are you using and did you have to buy something to connect your ad300 pro to the stand or softbox?
Im using the heavy duty Neewer stand. and as long as you buy the parasnap with the godox mount (which when you buy that one it comes with the bowens adapter and the godox adapter as well) you will be able to use it directly with the 300 and the 400 which uses both godox mount and bowens mount.

ok so you might have one that is broken. Sometimes it can be difficult to do it with one hand so if you are using both hands and pulling it it should click automatically if it is not then yes please swap it out. but trust me when you get one that works you will love it. Which light are you using this with?

When shooting with this Parasnap did you notice any color difference in your photos? Meaning warmer or cooler?

@@RyanTroy Did some testing today and found that you can fix the cooling that occurs while using both the internal and external diffusion by usiing a 1/2 CTO gel around the flashhead on the AD400 when shooting outdoors. Probably could do the same thing in the studio with a 1/4 CTO. The setup and takedown on this modifier is worth every penny.
does the ad300pro take the weight okay? does it droop/slump?
Takes the weight fine because it’s not really heavy. It’s hard to explain.
