    Thanks for this review! I'm planning on buying one myself, since I'm always shooting outdoors.

      They really are a time saver and easy to use. Glad this helped.

    Thank you! Wonderful review...both the 36" and 44" are now on sale at Adorama for $149.00 and $169.00, respectively (Bowens mount). I just ordered the 36' version to add to my 44" Para snap' and Angler Fastboxes (20", 24" & 28"). As an fyi...the Para Snap line of softboxes is made by Angler exclusively for Adorama according to one of the in-store lighting specialists.

      I did not know that. Good to know! Thanks!

      Will be available in Europe/Italy in the future? At the moment there is no trace of it here.
      I hope for it. Too simple mounting it. Thanks all.

    They seriously need to make strip boxes the same way!

    Oh Wow! This review came right on time. I just bought the SMDV version at 2023 WPPI, not knowing other brands were out there, but it's essentially the same. I'm new to lighting, and wanted something not too cumbersome to set up. Will defiantly watch you for more items. Thank you!

      The Glow version is made by Angler exclusively for Adorama. I prefer the Glow because it feels like it will last longer. But the SMDVs weren't bad either. Enjoy it!

    Can you tell me the dimensions of softbox when it's folded? I am mostly wondering about the length.

    This design made obsolete my other softboxes. I have the smdv 32 and now parasnap 36. Hope they last.

      I've had mine about a year and so far so good.

    I bought a 44" octa and love the design and ease of use but upon inspection the entire system is locked by a very slender pressed flat metal pin which sticks out when it is packed flat. If this gets knocked by a light stand when packed in a case the pin could very easily bend or break and the entire thing is unusable. I do not see these items having much longevity.

      Odd. On mine it is a very thick lever. You may have gotten one that was broken. It should be a thick plastic release.

    Thanks for the review. Can you please tell me the length of it when folded or the size of the bag. I want to see if it fits in my checked bag. I am interested in this 44" but I might need the 36 for traveling. Thanks!

      @Ranger7Studios  Год назад

      34.5 by 8.5 ish. So, no, it won't fit in a 24 inch suite case. However, if you can fit your tripod in the side or in your bag and then attach this on to your carry on, you should be good to go.

    So SMDV more expensive but easier to Open? How so? What made it easier to open? If price was the same which would you prefer?

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  Год назад +1

      I think the SMDV had more wear. It was a trade show floor model. So it probably had been used more. I like the Glow one due to the lower price and durability. The glow is actually made by Angle which is a very good brand. However, if the price were the same, I might go with the lighter one, IF the price were the same.

    What’s the difference between the egg crate and hexagonal grids? I tried looking online and can find no reason why they sell both. Is it the angle of constraint?

    • @Ranger7Studios
      @Ranger7Studios  4 месяца назад

      One is deeper, giving it more of an angle and less spread. I went with the deeper one. The shallow egg crates tend not to reduce the light as well.

      Yes. It is the same thing. Just a new design. Easier to use.

    You came across as a total fanboy on the video. Lol. But you failed to mention that you look blue when the light was on you. And that's also the number one complaint about the parasnap. The blue cast. And I absolutely saw it here.

      Well, I really am a fan of these. They really are quite incredible. Really??? I didn't notice it alt all. Also, any kind of diffusion is going to change the color temperature, so adjust your lights and camera accordingly to compensate.
