    Straight to the point and great comparisons. Really helpful seeing the illustration where the lights are too.

    Great comparison, man. Thanks for putting this together for us. I like most of all the lantern with a “mini skirt “ 😁

    Great video mate! My favourite from the list is definitely the lantern, but I prefer to use very big umbrellas, with a layer of diffusion sheet. I wold love to see some good quality umbrellas made by Aputure!

    Question, are you supposed to always have your ISO at 100 when you have control over your light setup?

    • @SjoerdWess
      @SjoerdWess  4 месяца назад +1

      No. Because that limits your cameras dynamic range. Search for your camera base ISO level and keep it at that level as much as possible

    I like the lantern for lighting video podcast environments where there are multiple people. I like the softness of the book light but you gotta have power. Thanks for making this video and sharing your perspective. The biggest takeaway for me wasn’t the lights. It was the different looks you got as you moved the light around. Many people should pay close attention to this and realize how you can get a totally different feel by just moving the light around.

    2 questions:
    1. What stands do you recommend for booming a light fixture? Would you be able to support a 120d on a boom arm like that, or do you use something smaller for those purposes?
    2. Any tips for disassembling the 6090 soft box? It was just enough of a fight to assemble it. And I need to disassemble for storage but finding that even more difficult.

      @SjoerdWess  7 месяцев назад

      1. I'd recommend the Avenger Combo stands (or similar) as they're super stable. Than a Avenger Junior boom D650 to actually boom it. This is a setup that you can use for heavier lights as well!
      2. Nope. It's a fight for sure. Maybe get a Light Dome instead, as they're super quick to setup. I feel like the 6090 is more for studio work that will be assembled for ever, haha

    Spot on show and tell, Sjoerd. Split diagram and effects pics clear and instructive. Could not find the follow up to your statement that your preferences have “changed” - from what? Perhaps I missed it, even though I watched the vid twice. Viewers would find that relevant, IMO, especially if they are currently using your old preferred lighting.
    Thought you might have afforded a female model instead of DIY variety😊. Nice carpet. Cheers!

    I have rather limited space, do you think a 60cm softbox (ML60+AD-S60S) is enough for soft light for a talking head, or is that a bit too small? - What would you say is the max distance for soft-ish light, 1m, or should I really try to get it closer?

    I love the huge dome, and the 90cm dome. For filming in tighter spaces (and budgets) I might get the 60x90 box and the chinese lantern. Both would be very versatile and cover a lot of scenarios.
    And what was that light-stand you used for the lantern?

    leerzame video weer Sjoerd, kun je eens een item wijden aan stabilisatie.. Catalist browse / prepare, Gimbals.. Easy rig..(oke dat is niet echt stabilisatie..maar het helpt mij wel enorm) voor run and gun laat ik mijn statief graag in de auto... :-)

    What light stand would you recommend for being stable enough to hold the bigger parabolics? I know steel would be nice and heavy, but I'm curious how "light" of a light stand can do the job. With sandbags, of course!

    • @SjoerdWess
      @SjoerdWess  Год назад +1

      I'd just go for a Combo stand. Like this one: www.bbplight.nl/contents/en-us/p7664_Manfrotto-Chrome--Stand,-3-sections---Leveling-Leg---007CSU.html
