I was fortunate enough to see her at a few conferences in the 80's! Amazing book! I loved the writing. Although it's not aimed magically at white or Euro tradition witches it is still an inspiring and powerful read for those who can read about someone else's practice without needing to take bits out of context or have it speak directly to them. Thank you for sharing this book review.

Good to see you've read Jamabalaya, it's one of my favorites. Have you read Hoodoo & Voodoo by James Haskins?

This book was so relatable, even though I'm not from North America!
But no, I haven't read this book you've mentioned, I'm gonna look it up! 😊

Another book by Luisah Teish to check out is is a calabash of coweries it’s a good book of orisha stories/ patakis. The book is meant to a kind of retelling some of the more problematic stories of the orisha.
