so i’m coming back to this video to say this works like a charm. i started feeding pellets when my oscar was around 3 months old and it literally changed his colors completely. he’s about 11 months old now and doesn’t like them anymore but mealworms also enhance color
Thank you for the clip and useful information on the oscar fish. In fact, i love the oscar very much. Currently, I have reds, tigers and one wild oscar. I bagged each one of them when they were barely 1.5" in size
Muchas gracias por todos los consejos, mis Oscares lucen con tanto color!! Que a mi mamá que no le gustaban les termino gustando, ya hice todo lo que aparece en tu video y llevo 1 semana así y lucen mejor ahora 😍
I have 9 oscar 3tiget 3 albino 2 lemon and i copper oscar ....love the oscar fish i only feed feeder fish n normal pallets will follow ur method keep post videos on growing process of oscars which will help me too and motivated me

My Oscar Jumped out of the Tank, God knows for how long, i found him and put him back in the tank, he was still alive, but now the eyes are being white and acting as if it was blind, is there anything i can do? its been only 2 hours since i put him back and his eyes are getting more cloudy,
That is completely normal! Oscars and many fish in general act hungry even if they are not because in the wild they need to eat as much as possible one time because food is not always readily available.
Hi,im new to this hobby,i want to ask,why my oscar just swim at the top of tank and didnt eat anything that i give,i give worm cube and pellets,is there any problem?
This is kinda late but I'll answer for anyone else wondering the same thing. Assuming your Oscar is healthy he's probably on a pellet strike. Oscars are very moody fish it's very common for them to refuse certain foods, mine is also completely uninterested in frozen blood worms. The best thing to do is break them like a spoiled child. My Oscar refused pellets when he was young and would only eat want freeze dried shrimps but freeze dried shrimp aren't a nutritionally complete food like a high quality pellet. So I held fast and would offer him a few pellets twice a day if he would refuse he'd get nothing. Luckily Oscars are very greedy and he accepted pellets after a few days of no food.

I have a baby oscar and it's on a 15 galloon and I diveide it to two the other side is flower horn is it okay for them?since I dont have hikari cichlid I usually feed him using shrimp
i have 4 oscar and they are in my 75g community tank, im feeding them KOI FOOD with color enhancer. do you think can i continue to feed them with those food or should i replace them with HIKARI gold... by the way im hobbyist here in the philippines... koi food cost me almost 2-3$ for 450g and hikari food cost 5$ for 250g....
Great video and thanks for it but I'm actually not a fan of red stripes on Oscars I more of a fan of how yours looked with really dark black and beautiful orange kinda gold stripes
Asthaxanthin powder is not recommended . A very little amount is required and absorbed by the fish so 2 days shrimp in a week is enough and with asthaxanthin pellet is more than enough. Remember food pellets makers know more than fish keeper that's thier buisness.😇 It's good for u and ur fish.
@@bradscanlon I would feed once a daily, if you have a small Oscar, twice works too. And yes you can feed bloodworms, I actually made a video on feeding my Oscar some bloodworms.
Every fish on the planet not in the"care" of a person, has not one but limitless places to get out of site. WHY do people think that Oscar fish in particular do not require or will not appreciate a hide???? The excuse often used is that they "tear up" anything in the tank. That's a terrible excuse and not true. I know from plenty of experience. SO GIVE YOUR DAMN FISH THE OPTION TO GO SOMEWHERE THEY FEEL SAFE AND OUT OF SITE IF THEY DO CHOOSE TO.
Quarantine is good but 2 weeks seems a tad excessive. I got them from a trusted distributor and they went into a tank with only a few long-lived hearty fish.

Good luck with your Oscars!
much appreciated, really informative... but a quick question..
I'm confused with "gut loaded" insects, plz explain..
He means larger insects, such as worms which have a lot of meat to them as opposed to flies and such.
@@codypacker5826
thank you Cody..🙏
@@Apostate_Maverick nah thats bullshit

Meal worms are easy to gut load, u can feed the mealworms carrots n other vegetables which the fish will absorb when they eat them.

thanks for the info..
New subscriber. Excellent information. I personally like to give them big nightcrawlers. Dont know if it helps coloration but they sure get excited
Thanks and cool!
Great video!
very informative !! keep up the good effort !!
I have a question how do you use the astaxanthin powder?
So frozen shrimp enhances their colors? I only feed my Oscar frozen shrimp and pellets.

Hey Can i ask a question ? Why my oscar is all the time hungry ? I am scared of it
That is completely normal! Oscars and many fish in general act hungry even if they are not because in the wild they need to eat as much as possible one time because food is not always readily available.
Your Oscar is beautiful. ❤
Yay thumbnails!
Oscar tend to change its color. Put something new in your tank and observe its color. If they are in stress they will change their color to dull.

Which type of Oscar is this
I have 2 juvenile size of oscar and both of em were tiger oscar and i dont see any red/orange colors on them can you tell me why?
juveniles dont have much colors, the colors gets promoted as they grow. Depends on ur enviroment setup and feeding
A good video and very informative. I also have a Oscar that is losing color. So thx for telling👍👍😊. And what about the 40 gallon aquarium
The 40 gallon is cycled but I decided I want to actually scape it, so it'll take a little more time. Sorry!
👍👍👍😉
My tank is 2.5ft length, 1.5 ft height, 1 ft wide .Is this tank perfect for 1 oscar fish?
No, Oscars need a large tank
some grow to 15 inches
It has to be a minimum of 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 feet tall
70 gallons at least..
check the capacity of your tank on

If they are together eventually they will fight and the flower horns will fight till death
You need a larger tank
I fed my albino oscar some goldfish last thing I noticed he as well turned orange

Will the color enhancer in hikari cause side effects?
I have no idea. My oscar has had no problems so far but if there are problems it is probably too early to tell.
it's just carotenoids, the only thing it will do to fish is make them more red/orange.
I use optimum quick red
can oscar fish live alone
Which water is best for oscar
Clean water
What is that black background?
Cheap cardboard (poster board)
what about lighting?
That’s exactly what I use

Not all. Some are just about making money. Going to start my brand in a few months. Designed for cichlids. Well my fish
Are earthworms good to be fed to Oscars
Yes oscars love earthworms, make sure they are from a clean environment though (no pesticides for example).
How often do I need to feed an Oscar? Can they be fed with bloodworms?

Inactive, doesn't eat, swimming at the bottom, etc.

Never buy fish the day they come in to the store. Always allow the store to quarantine them for at least 2 weeks.
