Do you think it might have grown faster in a 75g growout tank ? Ive got 2 juvies this week and put them in a 75g growout. They will move to a 450g tank when big enough to contend with the adult Southies..

Dude you should consider giving him a friend and that tank size is way too small dude. Poor thing got crammed in there. Your tank width and length are okay at best, but your height of the tank should be double AT LEAST. Please consider getting a better tank... Your fish will be much more happy! :)

A very good indicator that this fish is not happy or healthy is it’s color. If you’re feeding an appropriate diet and had it in an ACTUAL tank that was appropriately set up, he’d have a lovely color to him. This is just sad. These fish are not for everyone because they have enormous spatial needs, and if you cannot provide that, then you don’t need to own them.

@@karlothegamer1131 75gal min is the the recommended size for a single Oscar. They can get up to 14in as an adult. Sadly, most pet stores don't mention this and sell the $10 fish to people who see it as a 1in juvenile and don't realize how fast it'll grow. They grow about an inch a month for the first year or so.
