That Beyonce performance with Celine was just beautiful. I'll be honest, sometimes she goes overboard such as in Silent Night lol, but the "Emotion" perfomance was great, I really enjoyed it :)
At 1:00 Celine Dion makes a gesture with her hand as if saying, _"wow! Listen to Beyonce go!"_ when, in reality, she was actually thinking _"can anyone please make this annoying vocal-run chatter box shut up, please?"_
Young Beyonce just did way too much. She's so much better now. She worked on her craft and it shows. Jessica Simpson 😬🥴 Avery 😂 I'm so dizzy I need to lie down
Ryan, Ur right..Beyonce tried too mch bck then, imitating Aretha and Patti, who has a voice who doesn't Need a mic and I'm surprised Tina Marie wasn't in here. Wowwww!!!! Now, She had natural runs! All have made progress in their voices to make it all seem more natural and flow with better control. Thanks for sharing. Nothing like great singers, no matter WHAT your color or genre is! Loved it.🤔🙀🙈🤭😀
Jessica and melody (love her) drove me insane 🤯 bc they lack control so that toppled with over singing creates the perfect disaster. Avery and Christina were irritating bc although they can sing and have better control, they’re literally running every syllable 🙄
Runs are impressive when they’re tied to the melody. Too many try too hard and lose the melody, lose precision and (most dreadfully) lose the key. There are exceptions, mostly for showmanship.
Christina takes the crown for over singing every day! 😅 she’s so notorious for it, she has a great and powerful voice and she knows it, but she goes overboard.
As someone who sings, I know how easy it is to be able to over sing. It's just funny to watch professionals onstage do this as if its an extraordinary talent to over do it.
Its so funny when i see people shit on beyonce singing saying she can’t sing but in those parts when she apparently "oversings" she shows her technique agility speed tone range etc but its not enough for them
We all know the one video you will never see in this is a video of Keke Wyatt singing if only you knew because everyone LOVES and looks forward to her long runs she does when singing her cover live.
Many of these videos did not qualify for OVER-singing. It's not oversinging if the original song calls for the run. For Example, Destiny's Child's " Emotions" and Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" is not oversinging. They call for long runs on the record. Beyonce's "Silent Night" and Christina Aguilera's "Climb every mountain" was oversinging.
melody sounded a mess jessica was about to shit herself on stage i got dizzy with beyonce we STAN Mariah...the legend! avery too many descending runs have some musicallity also...wtf is that on yo head xtina what can i say...she is what she is, extra af
That's a young Beyonce and she wasn't hiding anything especially not her voice. She was a show off at the start of her career and approached singing as technical (that's why she's still riffing on pitch and melody unlike the other girls who oversing). She grew up from that, now selling millions with her VOICE that, according to you, can't sing. I mean a "can't sing" is literally you 'cause no one listens on repeat.
Very true for constant riffers. If you can’t sing a straight melody and let the tone of your voice stand on its own and feel the need to overcompensate with melismatic flourishes everywhere, then yep, you can’t sing 😂
I’m going to take Jessica Simpson out of this, because that song called for that run if we consider the origin. But the rest, yeah, oversinging. First place tie to Christina Aguilera and Avery Wilson for oversinging.
IMO, when Mariah or Celine does it, it sounds great, but it's because they never lose sight of the melody at the core. Meanwhile, when Beyonce does it, she divorces herself from the melody at the center of the run/riff. It's not fun to listen to, and gets boring quickly.
If Avery performed the song on the stage of his concert or something, it would've been amazing. The problem was the background lol we are literally seeing 'Dunkin Donuts' while he singing his ass off. The place didn't fit his voice i guess 🥲
Unfortunately their placed runs are not emotional and very very rehearsed. They are not naturally evolved in the song. There's no authentic expression of the song just horrific misplaced runs. Gospel, blues, jazz and real r&b singers never have that problem. They can simply naturally sing!!
Like it all depends on mindset - if they want to do riffs to prove their possibilities it never gonna sound well but when they just sing by their hearts then it's never too much
For the record you can never have too many runs. The only people that believe that can't hum the the 20 seconds to thoroughly clean their hands. Which makes sense now 🤔
That Beyonce performance with Celine was just beautiful. I'll be honest, sometimes she goes overboard such as in Silent Night lol, but the "Emotion" perfomance was great, I really enjoyed it :)
Head voice on point too😍
Yea her clips were still great, silent night is the only one where it was too much for me
She was trying to prove something at the beginning of her career and you have to understand Music to understand it was too much.
The "Silent Night" performance was awesome but it gave me headache 😩
Xtina at the end flinging out those runs like the rent was due.
I enjoyed it verry much
This comment has sent me 💀🤣🤣🤣🤣
She was starting that time she had to do to keep herself shining, the competition was hard in 90s and early 2000s.

Chile 👀..........I love me sum Avery Wilson but he definitely oversings. Like every sentence don’t gotta be a run........
Avery ruined the melody of every song he covers with his runs

I love his voice but he does those repeated runs down the scale in every vocal line! It gets old and tiring!

BEYONCE TOO😂😂😂
In Jessica Simpsons defense, she sang that part the same way R. Kelly did 😂😂😂 idk know her music so I can't judge
They may be a little too much but I wish I was that agile. I need to practice my runs lol
4:14 I just melted.
Sure Mariah is doing alot of runs in that part but it still fits the music. Not dizzy or sound literally oversinging.
