    As I look at the drawing, I hear you saying contrast, contrast, contrast!! It certainly is lovely, and the pops of light in some of the background flowers just makes it pop. TFS

    Oh wow, I love ❤❤❤ this so much!!! I am an adult colorist, who when I started out closing in on 7 years ago, would never of thought that I would say this, but…. I am at a point in it where, I realize that for the last couple of years or so, I am making slow strides to where hopeful one day, I will be able to do my own images….I am doing that by adding my own elements to images where there is enough white negative space to do so. Just not quite where I need to be yet, to do a full image by myself. Still learning lots, to get there though.
    The point of the black lines verse no lines- yes, yes, yes!!! The more realistic that I can make an image, the happier I am….tried all the different tricks that I have seen, but to no avail, at least for me, they don’t work and maybe that is partly “operator error”, but at the same time, I can’t help but think that trying to use a white gel pen, POSCA etc, is better than than nothing, but doesn’t really look realistic either…After all, how many objects truly have a white outline, unless they themselves are white? I was thrilled when I realized that the built in program on my computer, that I had been using off and on to take a photo and turn it into a grayscale image to color, would also lighten the lines on the line art images! Don’t have a clue why it took me so long to realize that!
    It is interesting though, conversing with others who also want to make images as realistic as possible verses those who are coloring just as more of a relaxing hobby. (Not that I don’t find my style relaxing because I do!)…but had this conversation yesterday with a gentleman who was talking about “I wonder how long it takes people to do realistic coloring?” I engaged by going into detail as to why that is impossible to say because there are so many variables…which he understood, but I still could tell that he didn’t get it 100% because he talked about how a simple image could only take a day or two verses one with many details taking a week or more….I reminded up that, once again, it depends on the colorist…I went on and explained that for example, I prefer a cleaner/ simpler image verses one where the artist puts in many details because it takes away from what I can do with an image…that as one develops their skills, that they learn that there is more to say shading than most colorists realize…that the more advanced colorists learn how darks and lights work together and thus, they are able to shape the objects on the page and put things in that aren’t there….I honestly don’t think that he was expecting that (he has of yet to respond to that..and somehow, I don’t really expect him to! 😆)…and I more than likely ended up talking beyond his understanding of it, at least to this point.
    I have reached a point where I started following professional artists, like you and several others on RUclips about a year or so ago because with the exception of only about three channels that are “regular coloring” channels and technically they aren’t “regular coloring” in that they are advanced and in two cases are very advanced, I have outgrown them and need more….One day, I hope to join you and perhaps a couple other professional artists in their advanced programs, but right now, money is really tight and so I pick up tips and tricks as much as I can from your channels. Thank you for being here!!! 💕

      I’m so glad to hear you’re eagerly on the journey! It’s so much better than soooo many who say “I can only do this much and don’t need to learn more.” They can talk themselves out of what they’re capable of learning. So just hearing you (ok reading lol) recognize where you’re at, where you want to go-it’s refreshing! 🤩

      @@SandyAllnock1 Thank you and oh yes!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times, I have seen colorists say, “why are some of you trying for perfection? This is suppose to be a fun hobby!” Or…”why are you using so many layers? or “Why do you want it to look realistic?” or “This is just coloring, the only ones that need to worry about layering, building depth and making their images look realistic, etc., are the professionals, who want to sell their work!” It’s like those who feel that way, seem to think making an image look as realistic as possible, takes the fun out of it or that in doing so, it becomes work. They don’t understand that for some of us, it is fun and not work. That there is a satisfaction that comes with it, that is hard to explain. Then you have others who ask how they can make their images look better and you explain to them what is needed and they come back with something like, “oh, well I guess that’s not happening for me because I don’t have the patience to do that!” Others as you stated, are willing to go only so far and then stop. Then you have yet others who end up getting bored and stopping, not realizing or understanding that they are bored because their minds are ready for the next level or a few of them may understand, but don’t want to take the time to learn what is needed, so they go on to the next hobby. Only to do the same thing and never reaching their full potential. Maybe for some of them, there is also a fear factor in reaching their full potential. Thinking, “what will family or friends say/do?” For some reason, mankind has always wanted to make everyone around them, limited in what others do, in order to make their own limits okay, otherwise you are showing off or some such thing…it really is nuts how limited thinking, affects the vast majority of people!
      Again, thank you for being here, for being an inspiration to those of us that do want to take it as far as it is possible. I know I appreciate it! 💕

      Agree, again! I even find there are RUclips “influencers” who tell people they should use stamps/preprints etc to color if they can’t draw--which makes a ginormous assumption that anyone CAN’T. As soon as they hear that from an influencer, it gives them permission to simply give up on improving. It makes me sad. There’s so much art to be made if people only got the encouragement to try instead of affirmation of their own insecurities. Alas. I could go on forever…but there’s art to be mad so I’m off to do it. Have a great day!😍

    Do you have plans to post videos on card making, as you did for years?

    • @SandyAllnock1
      @SandyAllnock1  Год назад

      I’ve spoken about that a number of times…cardmaking was killing my channel. There were hardly any new people subscribing for 3 or 4 years, barely 50/month, and those who were subscribed were watching less and less unless I gave out prizes, which I can’t afford. Since I broadened my content, I’m a happier artist, plus my work appeals to a wider audience; more of my videos are back to 5,000-30,000 views like back in the day.
      As for cardmakers, there’s still plenty to learn from my videos, as I often include what I did here with a smaller sketch (you should see the dogwood card posted by Andreja at Artventure!) And a week ago I made 18 cards in my superbloom video.
      Since I changed the type of content, new subs are up to 800-2000 a month instead of 50…a drastic change. So all that to say, I’ll only be doing occasional stamped cards like in the past. The cardmaking audience is shrinking rapidly due to a lot of reasons, and manufacturers are shuttering because of it too. 😣
