- Sometimes it's fun to drop the "Color" from Colored Pencils! Today I will be using only greys, black and white to complete a piece, while I discuss why I love this technique so much!!

Beautiful , beautiful, beautiful! Yet another wee gem to stumble upon. Made even better due to my being useless with pencil, so watching you brought yet more pleasure. Thanks Shana! 🎨🖌️👩🏻🎨❤️
Thank you so much, Anita! Your words always brighten my day!! 💖
This was great! I'm getting back into colored pencils by using only 3-6 colors.
Thank you! That's a great place to start! Using a limited color palette is such a good way to get to know a medium and practice blending and other techniques!
Oooh, I've been wanting to do this with my colored pencils for a while! Another idea I have is to do a part of the piece in color, and part of it only in greys. And just now you've given me another idea: part of it only in cool greys, the other part in warm greys. Too many ideas, too little time, haha 😅
Yes! I love doing selective color with them! That's how I did the one of my nephew, just the buttercup was in color! I did a splash of color in the sweatshirt on the other portrait as well. It's so much fun, there are so many possibilities! Using warms and cools is a great way to create emphasis. I did another portrait of my nephew where he was mostly in cool greys, and the stuffed animal he was holding was mostly in warm greys, and it made for a really neat effect! Let me know when you try it and how you like it! I hope you have a blast!!
Bravo! I love monotone-type art!
Thank you! Me too!
I love B&W photography, so this sort of pencil drawing is right up my alley!! Like with photos, not having the color there sometimes makes for a better picture. You see the tones and the shapes, lines and finer details that get lost in all the color. It looks cleaner, crisper and I think makes for a better result overall. Color has its place but it can be overrated.
Yeah, I love color, but sometimes I am just in the mood to work in black and white. It just adds a whole different mood to the piece.
Love it. Brilliant idea! Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!! 💖
Wow! Amazing art piece!
Thank you!
Like someone who commented already, I've worked in graphite, but I've never taken a non black and white medium and done a full black and white piece with it. I think I might try it with acrylics.
You should!! I think you would really enjoy it!!
Mushrooms are my favorite subjects in my short pencil career. Great great job.
Thank you! I had a lot of fun with it!
I have not done anything like this. I have done graphite drawings. 😊
I love using graphite too, but there's something about the look of colored pencil done in black and white that is really satisfying to me. 🥰
@@CautionArtistatPlay I will have to give it a try.
