For all those saying she’s loud and disrespectful…this man married her for a reason. This man wanted to be with her. Also she is from another country with different ways of communicating, and behavioral norms. They obviously have a playful banter. She jokingly said she needs to be paid. It’s just really giving I don’t like to see black women prosper and be happy to me….
Me as a black we always joking about the money . Like if my sis asks me to get something to eat, I said pay me first And we make a deal Just black things, that some people wouldn't understand
Maybe in S. Korea, being loud is considered a bit rude, but that is Glady’s normal tone of voice. They should understand other. They are not newly wed but married for almost 2 decades now.
I’ve met quite a few “loud” Koreans so I was surprised that they even made those comments. There’s a culture shift happening over there. Maybe the older generations was known to be quiet or soft spoken but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore
It's so weird to me that many watched this clip and the take away is that Gladys is rude and horrible to her husband. He met her 18yrs ago in her homeland, and she helped him become acclimated. This kindness caused him to fall in love with her. He married her and they decided to go to his homeland. A place were her mother in law was openly horrible to her during her pregnancy. But she tried to bring harmony, regardless of how she was received. (And let's face it. I'm sure she wasn't treated kindly by random strangers due to the colour of her skin and ethnic background). In this clip we see her helping out her husband's new business, she talks about doing all the house work. She was the sole financial support for the family while he was out of work and now that he's trying a new business. I'm really trying to figure out who this horrible wife is, that people keep commenting on.
Yes, I saw the typical Korean family we usually see on these type reality shows, where they fuss and nag at each other but you still see the love and care. Plus this is not a fresh newlywed couple, they've been married for a long time so no surprise the fussing, lol.
On this Korean show called "Backstreet Rookie" and another show called "Tale Of Nine Tails", there were Korean women who were portrayed as being LOUD and ABUSIVE, but it wasn't painted as bad as Asians ALWAYS paint BLACK PEOPLE. EVERYONE else can be whatever they want to be except for BLACK PEOPLE

Mother In law gave them money to live in that house. Koreans and Asians in general are very traditional and stay within race. In their culture it is extremely frowned upon to marry outside the race been like that for thousands of years. Once she saw she was a good woman she opened up emotionally and Financially to her.
It's sad but i can understand, it's not the woman personally, it's normal to be with someone who is within your culture, it's strange to most ethnicity to date outside nevermind marry, Puerto Ricans are a little open to cultural differences because we are mutts but we tend to stick with what around us as long as people look nice are working cooking and cleaning to busy for drama, welcome for the most part.

I used to teach in Korea. Honestly, they weren’t loud to me. Many Koreans talk loudly in intimate spaces. I think the family is brave living in such a homogeneous society. The daughter is also very cute. I noticed one of the hosts asked if she hit puberty yet. That was an invasive question. I suppose it’s because the girl is a bit bigger than most Korean girls.
I think they just asked that because the daughter doesnt want to speak to her parents a lot. In korean, the word for puberty doesn’t necessarily refer to physical changes in the body, but more so personality/attitude changes of becoming a teen. So the fact that the daughter wanted to play on her phone rather than converse w her parents is why the host asked the puberty question:)
Wow.. what a wonderful woman! She's an amazing wife and mother. And a very patient daughter in law. It's so inspiring because many would give up easily.
When it comes to biracial couples, I always noticed that the women put in a lot of effort to get involved with the husbands side of the family, to even go as far as learning an entirely new language. A lot of the women in my clan who have been married to their non-Asian husbands for decades, yet those men barley come around and don’t know squat. When I asked my biracial cousins, if I get to catch up with them, I learn that their fathers are not comfortable with “our people”, and I’m like “y’all comfortable enough to procreate with our women, but not stop by to just say. Hi.?”.
This is completely normal. Humans (& chimpanzees) evolved in a patrilocal social structure, where men stayed in their territory with a coalition of their brothers and male cousins, while women moved between different male groups.
Well hopefully we've progressed beyond that, but this case is a bit different. We know the father is familiar with Ghana as he worked and setup businesses there and met his wife and underwent both cultural marriage system. So I wouldn't doubt his comfort when dealing with her family. Though I may be assuming, living condition in Korea is probably much better especially for their daughter, who, likewise is doing well in school ( education is good! ). It just makes more sense for the whole family to adjust to Korea, (I think.)
I live in Korea. I don't understand why the host is saying she is loud. Korean women are often this loud especially in public when people are joyful. Open teasing, light hitting, nagging or even playful drunk partners is also common here. Seoul, countryside and BUSAN are known for loud people. Keep in mind black people with African descent are scattered around the across the world, we’re very diverse people. So Idc what they say about us all that matters is that if you know who you are and where your from, deep down regardless of our ethnicity/nationalities all that matters is if your heart is at the right place.
So she’s cooking, cleaning, working and helps out with her husband’s business but all she asks is for him to get a stable job and she’s the bad guy? Come on now… I understand it’s a start up and it takes time to grow but then get a part time job at least to tie you over. Relaxing is not how things work out. Things work out by hard work and making sure you’re focused on the project. It’s important to balance that with maintaining family social life. Women do it. All she’s asking for is equality. That’s basic.
to be honest he should've never married because, the badgering is stressing the man out if he was single he could've made more money at his own pace......without the nagging, and he would be cleaning and cooking for him self with someone always complaining , if she keep this up she's going to end up divorcing this lady, the nagging will lead to arguments and a unhappy family, she needs to learn there's is a time and a place.......American do that very well in terms of talking about serious issues, when your eating shut your mouth about any serious concerns until after.

She's not rude at all. My parents are loud like her as well and it's normal for some people that probably were raised that way so they didn't noticed. I didn't noticed I was loud until I was in high school and tried to change which was thankfully not too late for me, but it's too late for my parents to change their volume when talking.

It’s very impressive she came to Korea and learned the language because being a visible immigrant is not easy even if you’re from another Asian country. Now for the daughter I’m sure there will be many challenges too, but if they stick together as a family it’s all good.

@@johannliebert2870 awww thank you.
She’s honestly just loud speaking. But she gets along really well with her husband and clearly shares with him the same sense of humour. She even went out of her way to please his mother who clearly didn’t want her. Most people wouldn’t bother with that and would settle with a rift in the relationship. I think she’s very kind.
She isn't loud that's how the ghana culture is .
@Duolingo Owl Nope, Asian women are taught to be very quiet and meek. Complete opposite of black culture.
The world stereotypes Asian as quiet, and they don't complain about it. So when you go to their country, they'll stereotype you as loud, how's that unfair?

How is she rude? Stop being anti black in the comments they’ve clearly been together for almost 2 decades and seem to share the same humor.
Edit: cultural differences or not, family dynamics vary by household. Using the excuse of “korean culture” to dictate how this family interacts with each other is soooo dated. Its 2021 and there are many mixed raced families that acclimate to the other, and this family is clear evidence of that.
Exactly, she is only perceived as “loud” because she’s black.
Like that was not relevant and how was she loud. And the woman even said the same thing about the daughter….
She is obviously not Asian not just appearance but behavior too. Maybe that is why there are such comments. Her behavior in Asia is seen as “ loud”, maybe not where she comes from. Its cultural differences.
Bcs of the cultural differences, it's not abt black. Even if other race talk like that its considered quite rude in Asia especially when u talk to someone who is older.
@@thursdayistheday exactly. Even If it is a white person the comment would be same. Even the way the girl sits, feet pointing at dad would be considered rude in most Asian cultures. Everyone in the comments speaking on the wife being rude and loud when she didn’t even say anything rude to her husband. She’s just concerned about her family not making enough money to live by. Atm she is the family’s bread winner and must be difficult knowing how Korea can be towards black people especially from Africa. Y’all are acting like she’s not working and just demanding. Also she is not loud, this is just how Ghanaian’s speak. At the end of the day, they’re still married after 18 years so she must be doing something right. Just because you have an ideology of how a “wife” should be doesn’t mean you have a right to say that she’s not a good wife. Also since when did kids have to be a certain way. She didn’t do anything wrong. She just came home from school (which is a lot harder in Korea) and hadn’t been on her phone for more than five minutes and is being asked if she had done her homework. Like let her have some time to herself first. Also the point where she moved her foot, a lot of people just don’t like being touched and that is okay. She’s also just a kid. 10 minutes of an edited clip isn’t going to give you and insight of how a person is, don’t be so quick to judge as if you’re any better.
Theres like 7 people that thinks shes being loud and rude while theres like 700 people who thinks the family's cute, while theres like 1200 people complaining about the 7 people who's saying the lady is rude. Like why do yall even focus on that?

I'm born in a black household with mix diversity as both my parents are black as my father's side is part Native American and my mother's grandmother's side is Chinese and find it so inspiring how the Ghanaian woman speaks Korean natively! 😇 It really breaks down the language stereotypes that us blacks can't speak other languages and just so happy for the couple giving birth to a healthy Ghanaian-Korean girl as she reminds me of my nieces as they're 12-18 and going through that phase of using TikTok let alone Snapchat lol. Not sure why but hearing them eating Roman noodles @ 8:46 is the most Korean thing I've ever seen as it's like having a little ASMR as much as I despise it, it seems so soothing hearing how they enjoy their meal as they're working the best they can to support their own household.
Also, I have Jamaican descent as well and always feel so warm and happy inside whenever I hear someone that's Ghanaian and into the Japanese culture like I am. 💚💛♥

Why are you referring to us as blacks? Might as well say n i g g er. Smh
Truee. Like oh my god my family is part Congolese at my mothers side and my father is black American with the descendants of Ethiopians. I’m sick of the rumor of having people think that blacks can’t speak other languages as well. But to take another way of looking of it that’s how it is when if you’re black in America. Keep in mind black people with African descent are scattered around the across the world, we’re very diverse people. So Idc what they say about us all that matters is that if you know who you are and where your from, deep down regardless of our ethnicity/nationalities all that matters is if your heart is at the right place.

I understand it’s a start up and it takes time to grow but then get a part time job at least to tie you over. Relaxing is not how things work out. Things work out by hard work and making sure you’re focused on the project. It’s important to balance that with maintaining family social life. Women do it. All she’s asking for is equality.
