They need a 2nd guitarist so Chino can focus solely on his awesome vocals \m/ Its hard to play and sing at the same time but it is fun. I still think he should focus on purely vocals for the live stuff. The show would sound flawless i bet...Just my opinion. Sick regardless \m/

I'm trying to figure out the tunings Sergio uses for KNY. I thought the whole album was played in drop C but ten I found out that poltergeist is played in E standard so I'm on the search for what bass tunings he uses but everybody seems to love Chino so much that they forget about the rest of the musicians!
Chino is always tuned to drop C for all songs no matter what tuning Steph and Sergio are in. On KNY Steph was tuned to drop E on an 8-string for the whole album (E-B-E-A-D-G-B-E) and Sergio was in B standard (B-E-A-D). You would think that Sergio would get a 5 string so that he could tune as low as steph, but he only uses 4-strings so when steph plays on the 8th string I guess Sergio just uses the 3rd string

No it's like that nearly always. It's actually hard to find nearly perfect live versions of songs where his voice isn't fucked up. If by again you mean just before, you should know he got his vocal cords damaged in summer 2001 while screaming and spit out blood.
um, also, he's relaxing. in a studio. probably sitting on a couch or stool. in a/c. under a controlled environment. not playing guitar on a stage in front of a bunch people while doing so.
Sadly I agree about the voice thing but with all do respect to him, doing this since '89 will take its toll. Nevertheless, great song and greatest band in the world!
This is my theory: Since it's in the studio, he doesn't have to scream and sing at the same time. He could even record them at separate times. Maybe it's just harder to do it at the same time. I always see people who scream and sing in bands have trouble performing live. Not to mention that those high notes could use a lot of breath, requiring precision and no movement, but he's playing live...once again making it harder to acheive studio status....but it's just a theory....
I don't even think its necessary for him to play guitar on this track, stef could replicate the chorus wich is the only major part chino has besides the intro, which stef could still do. I do think he could do better without guitar and ya either way deftones is the shit haha

Vocals aren't good but nobody on earth could pull off vocals live on a track like this - it's just one of those tracks that shouldn't be played live in my opinion - a proper studio track

Yesss! The intro was kinda rough at first listen but it has grown on me a lot since then. Now it’s one of my fav songs in the album
this is one of the best theyve written, ever, for sure. but i say THE best still goes to knife party. that song is primal.
