Deftones as a whole is underrated. Every member in that band has like 3 different "things" they do that they can call their own.
Abe: double snare on the upbeat, ghost notes, his own fills
Steph: octave chords, open notes together (I call them Stephtones)
Sergio: bunch of little things
Chino: moans, inhale screams, rap
One of the most original bands out there
Drake Davis he will rap, moan, scream then melodically sing all in one song
The sound of his drum kit is amazing !!

This song is my favorite from Koi No Yokan. The intensity, the power behind it, the lyrics..... It's a revolution song. Deftones have been my favorite band for more than half my life. I am proud.
+Anthony Santos This & Entombed, for me. This song is so strong, so unusual for bands that have been around as long as Deftones to still produce powerful songs like this.

Dude, I hope this reply reaches you though you placed your comment 4 years ago, not not only is this song amazing, I'm willing to argue it's top 5 greatest Deftones song ever. When the song goes quiet and it's just Stephen's atmospheric guitar and Chino whispering, "You're cutting all ties, now and forever, time to DIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" There's no similar moment in my fandom of Deftones that I could compare his scream along with the entire band starting back up with that melodic and heavy as all fuck chorus. I stand by my opinion as a day 1 fan of the band along with never hating a song they ever wrote. Well, Pink Cellphone kinda sucks aside from the end. Hahaha

Yeah, I agree. I have been listening to them since "Around the Fur" and they just get better with every album they release. They have stayed true to their original style and have not allowed the record company to dictate the direction they should go.
I remember this was the first single they released for Koi No Yokan and I had just downloaded the song and was so excited. I had the speaker on full volume.. the intro started and then BOOM! I jumped and almost fell out of my chair, I was blown away. such a powerful song!
Best song on the album and one of their best ever; the energy and meaning in this are both immensely profound! Only Deftones could produce this kind of epicness!!

Last time I saw Deftones was in summer or 98 or 99 in San Bernardino, CA. One of my all-time favorite rock bands.
I dig Chino playing guitar, but I really like it when he is all over the stage tearing it up with just a mic.

They still have it. I have been a fan since 1995. They never let me down, they always push it the next level. I can't wait to see a show. I have not seen them since 2003. You got to love Chino's voice.

The meaning in this songs ridiculously good. I mean, the amount of people that just wear a mask these days and arent there true selves, who they really are astounds me. Most follow paths set by their parents or their peers, working in jobs they hate, working toward a seperate part of their life were paltry pleasures are what they work towards but have nothing real they base their lives on, their true inclinations squandered, left rotting inside them without ever blossoming because they choose not to nurture their own inner voice, their own inner desires toward what they are really in to. So sad. And this song just bats away at that telling people to open themselves up. Fucking amazing.

What a great band, a band that managed to weather the shitty nu-metal storm. Genuine bands and full of genuine dudes.
Deftones are beyond any of those "NU Metal" bands. Their sound is off the chain. eVERY album has something different to offer. The expand while keeping their roots. I expect the next record to thave a few curve balls thrown in there. they typical put out great music with the expection of PINK CELL PHONE.
goosebumps everytime i play this song, and most of the times i end up tearing up a bit, this is a masterpiece, and like all commenting indeed Deftones is very underrated band

This song seperates itself from the rest of the album. Mainly Chino's voice. First time i heard it i was like "okay Chino, i hear ya. Probably gonna have a softer vocal part soon.....holy SHIT! FUCK IT! LET THE WORLD HEAR IT!!!"

Only 2800 views ...after 20 days ??? ... i am not a deftones fan...i'm rather ignorant about their music...except that a friend makes me listen to "white poney" a decade ago...and if i remember it was not bad... but since then ...they get out of my musical radar...
but serious i thought that they were more popular than this...i know they are rather popular !? so why only 2800 ? ...it's rather weird... i think it deserve better of course...

At first they were nü-metal but since the scene didn't get that big they began to change their sound to what it is today Alt. Metal
finally, someone who knows his shit. Alternative metal is precise, and they are one of the greatest to grace the genre.
The scene was pretty huge. There were 100's of wanna be NU Metal bands that had copied LB and KOrn. I am not a fan of the style with the expection of Deftones who are fucking amazing. Korn, LP, LB, and Staind were all over radio and beating out Back street boys, Britney, and some other pop acts of the late 90's early 2000's on MTV. The scene didnt last as long as Grunge or Hair metal but it was pretty big for a moment.
they were never a nu metal band they were only playing with nu metal bands in festivals and became famous when nu metal came, they have their own style and yes they play alternative metal...
Adrenaline is as nu metal as it gets.
deftones were not so popular as korn and limp dick thanks god stephen carpenter is unique thats what makes deftones such a great band...
