Awesome gear list. I start March 31st. I finished section hiking the AT last year and am going to attempt a thruhike this year to celebrate my upcoming 70th birthday. I have my gear list pretty much dialed in, but I am starting at Amicalola Falls with a very light, highly modified wood stove in addition to my homemade alcohol stove. I'm having trouble deciding whether to start with my backpacking guitar (4 lbs.) or not. I hated carrying it on my longer section hikes, but it has been with me on every hike for 10 years. It gets hung up on rhododendrons and blowdowns. I use a hammock and camo DCF tarp and am starting off with a bear canister because there will be so many people that I will probably have trouble finding a good branch to hang my food bag. My average load out of town has been 32 pounds with the guitar, so I will probably drop the food canister and pick up the guitar at the halfway point, when the herd thins out. I hope to see you on the Trail. "Tinker" from Rho-Dyland, as we say it. 😁👍
Moving, moving, moving, keep them doggie’s movin 🚶love the mountain top hopping, great views for sure. Thought about ya yesterday as I made a trip to Michigan.have a nice evening Hawk👊🏻🇺🇸HST
Great gear list, which I'm sure will serve you well. A word of warning on the front pocket of your rain jacket. Those pockets do gather sweat inside when you're working hard, so be careful what you put in them. My phone did that no-charge, water-detected-in-port thing when I last put it in that front pocket. I'd suggest you keep your phone in that dedicated pouch on your pack. Happy trails, and look forward to your vlogs ... 🙂
I just started following you & I noticed you wear Saucony. I've always liked Salamons for trail running, but I used to wear Saucony for walking/running on the road. So I decided to order the Saucony Peregrine for trail running & hiking. Hope I like them. Thanks
I also like a compression bag for my sleeping bag. I could never fit my gear without it. Plus I have that extra sense of security that it will stay dry. I like the sea to summit. It is a dry bag.
Hoping to see you pass by me! Just got past mile 100! Either way, thanks for sharing your videos. They helped me get better prepared to be out here and enjoy it to the max 🙂
It will be interesting to see if you change anything out. I watched the video on how you started your small business. Very inspiring and interesting. If anyone hasn't watched it, it is a great story.🌻
Hi Taylor, thank you for the gear list. The link for the shoes shows Saucony Men's Peregrine 11 Trail Running Shoe. They are leather and not water proof. Just wanted to make sure I opened the correct link. Thanks!
I love my Mountain Hardware fleece, I have a tunic length one and idk why it doesn't get more attention. Looking forward to following another Nahamsha journey!
Taylor, I own 2 of those MH Summit Grid Hoodies… I cannot express how much I love them in words! They are so warm and cozy, and they also block wind. Definitely a solid purchase. I guarantee you’ll buy a second one.
Hey someone else using the Peregrine 11's! haha, I have the same color ones for about a year now... used 8's before. I always feel like Saucony is a best kept secret as far as trail runners. I have a friend who got a pair of Altra LP's and went from "I love these" to "I hate these and I'm never wearing them again" after 3 trips. I guess the zero drop / support really was hurting his feet.
Loved your video! I was wondering if you could make a video about how you vlogged/edited/uploaded your videos on trail? I'm a prospective 2024 thruhiker and I'd like to vlog my journey too but have no idea where to start, and your videos were wonderful! Thank you!
My doctor recommended Saucony sneakers for my plantar fasciitis over 10 years ago. Then I purchased the same type and colors (!) you had on your first thru hike. Wore them for section hikes on AT and everyday walking the dog. I only use darn tough socks and I have never had a blister or foot pain! They may be a little heavier but the tread is outstanding in snow and mud. I just got my third pair for my upcoming section hike of Georgia. Thank you for sharing.
After watching this video and reading your comment, I am considering switching shoes! I am a longtime merrell wearer. My last section, my merrells (speed) killed my feet. I also have plantar fasciitis and a bunion. Peregrine or excursion? Thoughts?
I use the Peregrine 11 for hiking. The only change I have made for my upcoming section hike is to get a half size larger to give me more toe room on downhills. Currently for everyday, I am wearing the Cohesion 13 cause I don’t need the “snow” tread on pavement or around the house. Since I started wearing Saucony I have not had any feet issues or plantar fasciitis and my feet are 66 years young! Happy feet, happy hiker! 😊
@@christinewinters9200 thank you!! I have been struggling since my last section with p.f. I have another section in May and need this to go away. I will order these and try them out while at work! I appreciate the encouragement!! I also like a wide toe box!

I literally just finished your video of you thru hiking! And I was like dang I wonder what all gear she took and you made a video!! Thank you! I have a ton of gear but I think majority of my gear is too heavy 😫😂 so it’s just gonna be my go bag. Time to start a hiking bag that’s more light weight
re: Hydropack bottle, Does having to squeeze up the water defeat the purpose of (what I originally imagined as) easily lowering your mouth to drink hands-free?
Thanks for the video! How exciting doing it again. Lately I have been missing the AT and might do it a second time at some point. Nice gear, I think the compression sack is quite the gamble. In my opinion a pack liner isn't optional for the AT...but you can always add one I guess. I just always try to keep my down dry and if there is any ingress, your bag will soak it up over the course of hours. Also don't like the ball it forms, seems unwieldy and space inefficient. But I hope it works for you and it's great that you keep on trying new things!
Love the running water bottle idea! I had a straw in a water bottle system I built myself on the PCT and it was amazing for staying hydrated! I was looking for something easier to use and I love this solution!

Those v-toe socks are awesome for camp flip flops. That would solve a major problem for me. I always wanted to use just the cheap, between-the-toes flip flops, but I like to wear socks. I've been scrolling through comments looking for a start date. Or are you keeping that secret for privacy and security reasons? If so, I understand completely. Looking forward to following you AGAIN. The girls always vlog better than the guys do. You and Hiking With Braids have the best vlogs out there.
Are you using a footprint for your tent?
Are you still bringing a Kula?
