I enjoy your videos so much. I live in Northwest NJ close to the AT and walk segments of it at least once a week. I met some really cool hikers recently and they were envious of me being able to hike the AT whenever I feel like it -- and I said I was too old and out of shape to go on long hikes... and now I regret saying that. I am more in shape than I was a year ago and I LOVE watching your vlogs. I won't ever get any younger than I am AND I love being on any trail so maybe... I am considering going on longer hikes now, in part thanks to watching and following you. I have never commented before but now I will more often. :-)
As a Canadian I can’t imagine tripping without wearing pants the entire time. Summers are definitely too warm for them but the bugs are so bad it’s better to be too warm in pants then eaten alive in shorts. Edit: gotta add that the mosquitoes and deer flys are bad enough to wanna wear long clothes regardless of it being 30 Celsius or more (well over 100f) but because winters aren’t getting cold enough anymore ticks are brutal now with Lyme disease becoming way too common so shorts aren’t even worth it in the bush here.
I always wear very lightweight long pants, too. Yeah, they're hotter than shorts, and I don't like being hot, but there are many things I don't like even more: mosquito bites; tick bites; chigger bites; spider bites; skin scrapes from rock scrambling; climbing into my nice comfy sleeping bag with grimy, filthy legs . . . :D :D
Half my hiking wardrobe comes from your videos. I got my purple MH Summit Grid hoodie because of yours, my OR Astroman sun hoodie, my baleaf hiking pants, and other various articles of clothing because of what I see on your videos. But I must say I trust your judgment because they all ended up being great purchases. Thanks for sharing all this fantastic gear!
Thank you for this interesting video! It's always fun to see everyone's gear. I am so thankful that you managed to stay safe during all that rain this year! It was so sad to hear about the Vermont thru-hiker "Steady Eddie" who died in one of the June flash floods.
Taylor...those socks :)..Good stuff though. My wife and I overnighted Mt Isolation this weekend. So we got to experience a little like you "river trails" on Rocky Branch. We did have our Katadyn and long spoons thanks to watching you...and Yes LMNT. Can't wait to see you back out on the AT.
Such a good breakdown of the equipment needed for a thru hike. I'll be referring to this video when I start to stock up on my equipment. Brilliantly done!
Thanks to you, I tried LMNT on a hike to the Kinsman’s on a hot day. It was the fastest hike I’ve done. This summer has been horrible with the humidity even when hiking Gunstock and Belknap. I forgot my LMNT that day and I felt horrible.
Hi Tailor so glad i met you..and really looking forward to wearing my new hiking clothing i bought at your store and cant wait to see you finish again..hope my little trail magic bag comes in handy..keep up the bloooers they are so funny!!
I am legitimately surprised more people haven't commented on this: I've replayed that transition from setting the bottle on the table to the moment she moves the collapsible water bottle away and I can't imagine how that could have happened (x-files theme starts playing).
Always love a good gear video. Thanks for this one. Fan of the channel....also newer to the channel. Enjoying the content. Keep up all the hard work :)
Thank you for doing this. For those of us who have followed your hikes, you've earned a credibility that makes videos like this a wonderful resource. Thanks!!
I have watched you since February throughout your hike, got hooked on it and look forward to each night to see a new posting from you and you actually help me get through some hard times of depression because I saw what you were able to accomplish out on the AT. I’ll be looking for you when you get back on the AT in September. I hope you continue to do other postings of videos of your experience in gear and explanation of how you felt on the hike. You help a lot of people you’re an excellent orator and you should be very proud of everything you’ve accomplished..
Can you make a video on "trail magic" I hear it talked about but not entirely sure what you are always referring too, how to find or ask for trail magic and how to offer it to others.
Hey Taylor! Great review. I followed almost your entire AT thru hike. Impressive! I just ordered the Unbound 40 and am looking forward to putting it to use!
Have you ever considered switching out your tent for a hammock, such as an ENO, with a tarp and bug net? It would make more room in your bag. Mind you, I don't know how much the weight comparison would be in comparison to your tent. As for rain and humidity, I agree that it's difficult to find the right balance when it concerns clothing options. It's difficult to find a rain jacket that is not going to build up humanity on the inside vs one that will keep you dry from the rain. I learned that just because a product is made by a popular outdoor clothing company doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to function as advertised. More expensive doesn't always mean that it will be better. I now use a Champion rain jacket, the best rain jacket I have ever owned, which cost way less than the fraction of the price of my previous Marmot one. As for clothing, I found that synthetics don't function well in wet and humid environments. Under those conditions it takes forever for them to dry. Cotton is way better, until it gets wet. Then you end up with the same problem. It's like a dog chasing its own tail.
Your gear videos are interesting and informative. I always imagine the brand makers are sitting around a conference table watching your videos nervously waiting until you get to their merchandise: "What will she say? What will she say?" Cuz, I mean, you're NAHAMSHA! So, I breathe a sigh of relief when an item gets a good review 🙂 but kinda feel sorry when one doesn't. 🙁 But, like you said... there are pros & cons for everything, right? That's life! 🎭🤩☯️ P.S. My fave gear is the water filter bottle because back in the olden days, we had to use iodine and an eye dropper to filter stream water (or, we could boil the water but that wasn't always an option in the wilderness). 🪵🔥💦
@taylor can you direct me to your videos, links, or info about what food you eat on the trail please? Preferably the food you make or take to make outside of ready to eat freeze dried? Thanks!
Hope you don’t mind me chiming in but it helps keep pressure off of your knees and it helps increase blood flow in your legs which helps prevent cramping
Really enjoyed the 2021 and 2023 videos and a good "whats in the bag" is always informative. Any suggestions for an outfitter in the northeast for shoes?
Great videos. I can only section hike 200-250 miles at a time so I watch your videos of upcoming hikes to help me prepare. Thx. I switched to the Tarptent dbl rainbow Li last yr and really like it. I wanted to like the Zpack Arch haul but it sits odd on my shoulders causing some shoulder blade pain. Love the Nemo tensor since I toss and turn but the noise is annoying, this is the 1st I’ve heard of a new pad comin out so can’t wait as well.
You did not comment about your watch. Maybe you mentioned it and another video but I missed what kind of watch it was. I am trying to put together my own gear for next year.
Check out the geo press 24 oz . filter bottle by grayl for 99.00 but it's amazing the filter can last for 10 years and purifies in likec10 sec. Anyway check it out.
Would be very interested in seeing a video from you & or one your open discussions concerning the Netflix movie Happiness for Beginners . The Hollywood scirpt of the CT AT section did not seem as realistic as the Robert Redford AT movie. Thank You for considering this.
Definitely not a fan of mold. Maybe not do-able on a thru-hike but those little bite valves usually come apart and after a little bleach bath (with the tubes) are good as new. I do this all the time for my bladders and stuff at home.
What size compression sack did you use? I am looking at the same one you have in this video for my 2024 thru hike and am trying to decide if I should order the biggest size or stick with the Large or XL. Thanks.
Great gear review! Thank you! I’m wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions about your shoes. I’m having a hard time finding information about soles & arches. I totally agree that you need to try them on first. Do your Saucony Peregrines have good arch support? I have high arches & get foot pain when wearing shoes without good arches. The Saucony Peregrine is one of the shoes that has been recommended to me. Unfortunately, all of the recommended brands tend to be expensive. I’m willing to pay but want to seek out recommendations from people who have actually hiked in them. Few people have high arches so shoe companies don’t address this very often. Do you hike in the trail runner or a regular running shoe version? Do they have good gripping soles on wet surfaces ? I hike in Acadia and need good soles on wet granite boulders. I’m a fairly short person so I have to be able to climb over rocks that tall people negotiate easily. After seeing you hike the Whites in the rain, I assume they do just fine. Again …. Thanks for sharing your gear! I always appreciate seeing gear that works well and is carried well for women. There’s not as much information out there for gear that works for women although companies seem to be working on this. I especially like your thoughts on backpacks. I like your Unbound backpack.
thanks for all the videos. they are great cause i have always thought about hiking the AT. all that water that you walked through though makes me have second thoughts. by the way i was thinking your about 5 feet 7 inches. Am i close ?
I’m very close to picking up an Unbound 40 for my AT section hike next spring. Did you find that it transferred the weight to your hips well? I’m also a bit concerned with how narrow and thin the shoulder straps are. Was that ever an issue for you? Did you miss having load lifters?
From camping I have learned to never sleep in that day's clothes. You sweat during the day and at night, then you wear those wet clothes and feel miserable. Sleep in underwear and let the sleeping bag/quilt do it's job. Hopefully, the day clothes can dry in the tent. I call it a "wall wart." Sweet revenge on Chet by letting him star in the bloopers: Well done.
Well done. Until the bloopers, I had no idea Chet was being creepy staring at you. In every hobby, some stuff that you hope is permanent, ends up needing changes, upgrades, or replacement. You seemed to manage it well, except that I will admit to wanting to yell at the screen to replace your socks before you did. Trying to nurse them along, was a mistake IMHO. Some things like that, I'd replace on a preventive schedule rather than waiting for a problem.

Taylor! Your fans who adore you including me of course need more Taylor videos! 😂❤
My cat Tater Chip was happy to hear Taylor today! 🐈⬛
@@rodgerankarenhowell2952 🤣 That’s funny, but I think my yellow labs ears perked up also when he heard Taylor’s voice..😝
Little tip, sea to summit makes an EVEN LIGHTER day pack, like half the weight of that one, I carry it with me and it's great to have
You 2 made it up and back before the weather turned to rain again. Well done 👏 🎉

We visited Nahamsha gifts this past week and got to meet your mom! What a beautiful place! ❤
Great video!! Loved the thru hike video as well. Bloopers were so funny I couldnt stop laughing lol
Thank you! This was very helpful - and entertaining! So funny, you predicted the "smell" comment perfectly.
Thanks Taylor! Those socks.. 🤪 Always informative and so fun to see! Can't wait to see you finish!
Such a good breakdown of the equipment needed for a thru hike. I'll be referring to this video when I start to stock up on my equipment. Brilliantly done!
EXCELLENT Gear review ... nice job Taylor
We love you Taylah!!!!
Thanks Taylor! Love the bloopers! I actually really want the sun shirt.

My tent has a spot charge things but it a 8 person tent lol defentally not for hiking and when it 50 at night it cold with just a blanket
Fun video. Thank you for sharing.

I have the same Fanny pack and it’s as dirty white as yours 😂. Looking forward to the finale in September. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thanks for the helpful gear review! FYI - I ordered the Chocolate Salt LMNT and it is amazing! Looking forward to the remainder of your AT hike! :)
You made a gear review entertaining! Now that may be the hardest thing you’ve done so far 😊. The bloopers were classic. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video. Loved the format. 😊
Keep them coming. 😉
What was with the bottle moving at 3:26?? Your expression too..😮? Creepy. Lol. Thanks for sharing your pack with us!!

O my😮
Appreciate the gear followup video, I was hoping you'd do this after you mentioned it!
Ha! Love the found socks. Yup, things can hide and scare you later! lol
Loved the outtakes!
Thank you so much Taylor for this very needed and informative video 😊
As always great setup!
Always interesting to have a piece by piece assessment of gear.
Good seeing you, Taylor! ❤
Good Morning, Taylor!!

The platypus quick draw is as fast as the quick draw and when it starts to slow down you can back flush it
I would love to see a video on your meal plans for the hike.
Amazing video, super good information and some gear I might try in the future. Also Chet is funny lmao
Great videos! Very informative. Thanks for all you do to educate and inspire the hiking community.
Maybe Ill see you heading SOBO through the 100 in September. Good luck to your finish strong!

Great video, Taylor. Is there a reason you don't wear hiking boots? Is it the extra weight? They're much better in streams with keeping feet dry. etc.
Can you talk about the bone conduction headphones you bought on the trail? How were they, did they hold up ok, were they comfortable etc 🙂 Thank you!
BEST LINE OF VIDEO from my man Chet ..... "IT SMELLS LIKE FEET IN HERE" ROFL
What makes keeping the pillow between your legs so comfortable? I'm intrigued by the suggestion and am definitely going to try it too!
Hope you don’t mind me chiming in but it helps keep pressure off of your knees and it helps increase blood flow in your legs which helps prevent cramping
@@MysteryLullaby Thx for the explanation!

Can u carry tentstakes on the plane

Definitely not a fan of mold. Maybe not do-able on a thru-hike but those little bite valves usually come apart and after a little bleach bath (with the tubes) are good as new. I do this all the time for my bladders and stuff at home.
Do you carry Deoderant? What kind of trecking poles? I love your videos!!
Do you have a Hyperlite unbound 40 backpack review after your hike? Do you still recommend it? Now that you used it , do you recommend white or black?
What happened to the big Agnes tent you used during last thru hike?
Always keep toothpaste scented soap, lip balm, etc. In your food bag.

I like that shoulder pouch, but my Gregory Baltoro does not like shoulder strap pouches.
question!! did Taylor say her pack weighed 14 lb? does that include the bottle of water at all? ty
I think I saw you put those wet socks in your pack at Galehead Hut…. Let’s see, that was June 18th 🤪😳🤣!
No potty trowel? No extra bag for used tp (you probably threw that out!) No bandaids or any other first aid other than Leukotape?

Are you going to finish this year?
what kind of water bottle pouch is ?

I believe she’s getting back on the trail in September.
