    I did a section hike on the AT, Asheville area to Harpers Ferry. I dont have time to do it all in one go. I used a Nemo Hornet 2 person tent, pair of black diamond treking poles, had a spare ultra light rainfly you could put up between the poles, I hiked with a big agnes camp chair cause I like a dry place to sit, raincoat, sunshirt, hat, toakes 750ml, jetboil, found a french press atachment that fits with the toakes to make coffee, started with a sawyer and loathed how long it took and switched to a pump system half way through, Klymit sleeping pad which popped halfway and I switched out for a Big Agnes. Was fun, got to enjoy 28 days on the trail.

    Beer, is what I bring for my yearly trek from NY to Maine. My trusty S&W stays on me. The always capable M4x knife. A dozen Fit Crunch protein bars. wool flannel( I always hike in the late Autumn/early Winter). Li-ion batteries(I've left hordes of alkaline batteries throughout the trail during the nineties). Glow-sticks(plenty of them, too, scattered throughout the trail). Fifty-feet of climbing rope. Trauma kit. Few MRE's. Lots of fishing tackle. Synthetic-fill sleeping bag. No tent. Rain tarp. Camouflage toilet paper. Rain gear. Insulated jacket. Extra boots. Cycling shorts(feel good). Softshell pants. And a box of condoms(sometimes, ya do get lucky on the trail).

    @jhosk 6 месяцев назад +1

    Question!!!
    What would be recommended for those of us who are much larger than the average hiker? Here's my example, most sleeping bags I can't zip past my nipples, much less than my shoulders! Even quilts aren't designed for us, as for tents, I'm relegated to a 2 person. What most manufacturers consider as "wide" really isn't. It's gotten to the point that I'm considering just making my own gear
    Just want ultralight gear

    Crazy how popular Durston tents have gotten. I leisurely shopped around for a 'cheap' tent in 2020, took my time, settled on the X-Mid 1P.
    Tried it out and told a friend "I'm surprised how good this tent is for the price, you should get one."
    He bought one in the Spring 2021 batch but it was crazy how many people were scrambling to buy when it went live. Majority of people couldn't -- the popularity of the tents exploded within a single season and it was nothing like my leisurely shopping experience less than a year prior.

    I loved your report and very cool that you gifted what those through hikers really needed. I like your channel and your unique videos. Keep them coming.
    P.S. I watched your video on Zenbivy and now am torn between buying their new sleeping pad and the Tensor which was a popular pad on this video. I need to upgrade from my Klymit.

      .. Cost may help you decide ,,, Zinbivy is not just a pad but a complete sleep system ,, and $$$ .. Tensor's are great pads ,IMO .. well worth the cost ..

    I have the Xmid2 solid tent coming. I have the tensor insulated pad everyone is using. I have a Zenbivy convertible light quilt and core sheet. I think I'm going to upgrade my stove from the MSR pocket rocket to the Fire Maple. I'm still undecided on my pillow.

    For people that have a bad condensation experience in a tent, sometimes it's the tent, but sometimes it's just going to happen. I've slept in tents with no fly, just the mesh, and woke up with everything soaked from condensation. Even cowboy camping, have woken up with my bag soaked with no tent at all.
