One Can of Chickpeas Could Change The Way You Think About Chicken Sandwiches.
This chickpea chicken sandwich is out of this world!! I love making Chickun using chickpeas but making this pounded buttermilk chicken on a vegan butter milk maple butter biscuit made was awesome! I had these biscuits for days after because OMG they are so good.

him : I'm gonna steam it
him : *boils it*
Bruh I was gonna say the same thing LMAO
@@pushpopLoC909 me too :D
He does say simmer a few times too😉
@@dibamoca9885 He said "I steamed mine for 30 minutes" but put the steaming basket underwater. 🤣
bruh i was like wait hold on...???? lmao
"steamed"... proceeds to boil
Looks great dude! When I saw the thumbnail I was like, those biscuits look good, I wonder what his recipe is lol!! Thanks for the shout out!
hahaha I 100% meant to message you and tell you I was using your recipe for this... even to the point I thought I did up until I saw this comment come in
This is the crossover I needed 😊
@@SauceStache what pan is that called
Oh as this is your recipes for the biscuits I’ll check out your channel now.
I've known Watson for 20 years (traveled the country with him once!) and I'm so stoked that he has this life as The Burger Dude.
The giant slab of chikn between the little biscuit looks like Saturn to me lol
Bwhaha thats pretty awesome!
I wanted to make these but didn't have all the ingredients...i forged ahead nonetheless. No nutritional yeast so used soy sauce and no pickle juice. These came out amazing, even my meat eater mate liked the taste of these. I didn't do the hot sauce cause i can't take that much heat however i made a margherita mayo and it kicked it off beautifully. Thanx for the great recipes. Can't wait to try the next one.😊
As a hard core carnivore, I'd eat the HECK out of this!
Me: pushes play
Mark: BUTTER BUTTER BUTTER WITH NO BUTTER!
The seitan cutlets look like they would be really good for a vegan chicken parmesean
Thats a REALLY good idea!
I am vegan for over 35 years, following your creative vegan ideas, I am utterly astound from your hard work and time you invest to share this. Thank you so much 🙏❤
Is it just me, or is Mark looking like a lean, mean, faux-meat cooking machine! Looking good man! I can tell your hard work is paying off!
He’s definitely lost a lot of weight. He’s looking great, good for him!
@@Olibelus yes!!!
He does seem to be losing weight. I didn't recognize him for a split second in another video.
@@falsehero2001 hehe who hurt you? Looked into it, and Mark has lost like 20 pounds! Lookin’ good!
Ahhh David!! Thank you just saw this comment!! I really appreciate it!!! You all keep me going!!!! It means a lot
Im not a vegan and i love meat but i have been watching your channel for some time now and you have made me interested in trying these vegan foods. They look great and I will be making some of these. This is what vegans should do, be nice and welcoming and teaching about alternative options to food.
You should see a reply further down where a meat eater says that "if you think this replaces chicken breast or thigh, you are sadly mistaken". He or she LOLs and everything at their diss/slight.
But yes, it is us vegans who should be nice! Must keep the meat eaters' feelings and disposition top of mind. Most of us have encountered the other poster types numerous times. I'm not sure we need to go out of our way for the meat eating crowd.
@@InTheSkyGirl Lol I think there is a misunderstanding. Vegans dont need to walk on egg shells around meat eaters. If they dont like it too bad. I know that not all vegans are annoying or aggressive. The comment I meant was for the vegans that give regular vegans a bad reputation. Both sides need to respect each other's choices.
@@speed6-god but what counts as annoying or aggressive is subjective. Most of us vegans have been on the receiving end of ridicule and derision just when it becomes known that we are not eating meat. Just existing brings out the ire of many meat eaters. It gets tiresome fast. Many of us bow out of gatherings for a while or maybe permanently, to avoid the teasing. We just want to eat our food. Commune with friends. Few of us want to go into the whys, but we are compassionate people. The whys matter to us. Nobody likes having their values ridiculed especially when everyone in the room knows that those are sound values.
If we are asked why we don't eat meat and give any reasons to make the inquisitor uncomfortable (animal suffering, environmental harm), we are pegged as holier-than-thou. How dare we try to live in accordance with our values. If we say something or nothing, we are annoying vegans.
I get that it bothers meat eaters that our dietary ethics cause them discomfort. Our choice is a direct criticism of their choices without having to utter a word. There isn't any way around that. I'm glad when meat eaters are veg curious for whatever reason and try plant-based meals and enjoy them! But it goes beyond wonderful food creations like I've seen here on this channel. It is about suffering, cruelty, environmental effects, exploitation of the working poor/undocumented laborers who are employed in the industrial farm industry.... on and on it goes. For us, it is deeper than the chickpea and seitan wonders.
@InTheSkyGirl you just proved the person's point 💀💀💀💀
@@Anonymous_Buttocks nah, I think you just proved mine. No matter how we state the case, we are annoying to meat eaters. Did you read my response? I aimed to be as diplomatic as I could be in explaining the situation, but still the only acceptable vegan is one that is silent. I've found that even then, some meat eaters feel challenged or offended and must remark. Vegans should never mention their whys and never relay their hurtful experiences at the hands of meat eaters. It's like the unspoken rule for any minority group - don't make the majority mad/uncomfortable by speaking out about your treatment by the majority. Be a model minority. Bad minorites make their case in some form of protest or calling attention to injustices.
There are very good reasons to not eat animals. There are other things to eat to be well nourished and we are tired of the subtle and overt harassment for taking that stance. That's really the sum total of what I wrote. I guess this response is going to be taken as annoying as well. How are we to have a dialog about any of the issues? Are vegans not to relay their experiences or show frustration - ever? Model minority.
Constructive dialog brings understanding and change when needed. We need more and not less of that.
I’m a big fan of aprons and fully support you bringing it back!
im excited! its been too long
“Kick this into chickeny high gear”
“Add pickle juice”
I just wanted to thank you for this recipe!! My daughter is not a fan of meat and she loved this!!! It's amazing!!!
I have never made biscuits and now I really want to try them out :D So fluffy and buttery!
I would also happily eat these chickpea filets as schnitzels!
I used almost those exact same ingredients today to make chickpea tenders but I used a different method that led to a soggier result. I don’t think I put enough gluten. Thank you for this video
Oh nooo!! maybe a little more cooking time or more gluten as you said!! Hope you have better luck next time
I'll never understand making the patty too big for the bun thing... Maybe that's just me...
Aint steaming supposed to be out of the water and cook it just with the steam??
100%
Holy cow. This looks fantastic. And I just had a brilliant idea of what I can use that cutlet for. You are inspiring me.
Can we get written measures please?
I think some dill pickle juice in the seitan would just Rock.
Ohhh totally!!!
The biscuits and the chickUn are both awesome! Love the apron!
hahah Thank you!!! Im stoked to bring it back ha
Looks very delicious. I am going to give this recipe a try. Thank you for sharing.
Yeeeeeessss Thee Burger Dude shoutout. Absolutely love his channel.
That dude is awesome!!!
That patty made the biscuit look comically small.
hahah it was pretty funny!
As a European I was confused of your definition of biscuits!😂
what are they called in England or what country you are from?
@@pattiannepascual I'm from England, we'd probably call them American biscuits to distinguish them from normal biscuits which you call cookies - whereas to us cookies are a type of biscuit that usually has chocolate chips in. It's kinda like how there's muffins and English muffins (weirdly enough, we still call them English muffins in England) however we don't really do the American versions of things much (muffins aside) since they're usually just modified versions of what we already have e.g. American football vs Rugby, Baseball vs Cricket/Rounders, Basketball vs Netball (though Netball's mostly for girls), American biscuits vs Scones, Mass shootings vs Mass stabbings, American pankcakes vs Scottish pancakes/Crumpets etc.
It's kinda annoying though how we speak almost the same language but there's a just few words that translate badly and confuse the hell out of both sides of the Atlantic.
That’s what I’m talking about. Now that’s an appetizing way to use my gluten flour. Thanks for this idea. It made me hungry for it lol!!
Thank you!!!
Lol, if you think this replaces a fresh chicken breast or boneless thigh then you're sadly mistaken
I tried to eat it plain without panko but fried in a pan and drizzled with lemon juice instead. It was 'chickeny' but a bit too soft without the panko. I ate two of them every day 4 days long! A batch is a lot for a person alone. 😅
Good to know, I’m the lone vegan in the house, so I’ll cut the recipe in half
I made an entire can and wish I had made half. Was wondering if I could freeze them, sans breading. He doesn't say hot to store extra.
When you submerge food in water, even if there is a steamer basket beneath it, that’s not steaming that’s boiling. 3:01
Great vid but the music was distracting
Sorry about that!
I was thinking of ordering one of these pans... now I'm watching you use it and NEED it!!
Ah the frustration of having a gluten allergy, most wheat alternatives do not make acceptable biscuits. They turn out either dry or unpleasantly sandy, sometimes letting it rest helps.
as a celiac I am crying inside. I miss gluten sometimes so much. 😭
Maybe you can invent a way to keep the protein of other cereals like buckwheat or other non gluten stuff ?
I wonder why calling it bean water never caught on 😂
“It should have a chicken flavor” 😂 man you vegans crack me up
Chicken meat and even rotten flesh i loved so much.
This morning at the putdoor market i had a craving for that roasted chicken.
I had been fasting for 24 hours (monthly habit)
But i kept going my way.
Why ?
Because the feeling i now have in my every cell, independently from any outside component is priceless.
Along with mental clarity, state of inner cool calmness, impulsivity vanished by themselves without any loss in power or lifeforce.
Much better sleep, twice a day dumping, undiscribable lightness.
Much more efficient sport recovery, i never had the motivation to do as much sport as today.
And also theblightness goes deeper than only digestive, it makes your whole being deeper, more sensitive, more receptive.
What a freedom.
Plus no blood on the hand
One of the reason i stopped is that 100% of the flesh i was eating was killed by someone else, i never had to face the act of taking the lofe of that living animal.
How hypocritical was i.
If i want meet im gonna face those living to eyes looking at me before taking that life.
Cheers by the way.
Have a blessed week, whatever you put in your body, even random corpses :)
I love watching your videos. This one looks so good!
Thank you for sharing another chickpea recipe. I appreciate you. 😊
Thank you so much!!!
We love you gluten stache!
Bwhahaha thank you!!!!
Looks good! I wanted to use my chickpeas but didn’t want to do my typical tuna salad or hummus and I have some tomato paste that I need to use before it gets bad so I’m gonna make some chicken parm
I have noticed that you lost a lot of weight recently. Looking good bro!
Thank you !!! Really working on my health!
Chickpeas can save the world!!! Cookies, burgers, and now chicken? 💕
Could you tell us how much broth is in the original mixture with the chickpeas?
I went to the original recipe he referenced, and it was 2 cups chickpeas and 1 cup broth.
I'm not vegan but this looks so yummy! Love chickpeas
Same
please turn down the music a little its hard to hear you talk over it
I didn't know TBD had a book! Gotta get it
omg its so good!! His stuff is just fantastic!
I'm not even vegan or vegetarian...I love meat...but I definitely need to start eating more fruits and veggies. I'm looking forward to incorporating more vegan/vegetarian dishes into my diet.
@Acceleration Quanta that's factually incorrect but whatever lol. Even if that was true for you (and I bet it's not) it wouldn't be true for my kind
I'm not a vegan but I might try this "chick"en recipe during one of the upcoming Lenten Fridays.
Looks super delicious!
This looks so good 🥰
There will be viral fights over this sandwich 😍 also, why no methylcellulose? And genius for the pickle brine!!! It's like a plant based chik fil a 🌱
hahah im keeping my eyes pealed haha
I AGREE!!
It did not taste bad, at all. I will attempt it one more time with the wheat gluten and the longer process of making seitan and perhaps it will taste better. mmm?. We do appreciate you for sharing. May the season bless you and your loved ones with peace, love, and financial prosperity, always. Joyful, Joyful.
These almost looks like Tonkatstu patties!
This looks so good!!! Congrats on the weight-loss!!! You look amazing!
Thank you soooooo much!!!!
@@SauceStache Yw!
ok but the opening was flatout a flex on those that dont want you to use omnivore terms 😝
hahaha yup... I did my best on that one.
YET WANT FAKE MEAT!!!
Yall are insane!!
This looks fantastic! Going to have to plan it/make some subs tho. Seems pretty time intensive.
Wow, you look great! Any plans to share your health routine with us? :D
Aside from that, wonderful food as always and great timing (I have a lot of chickpeas I made earlier that need to be used up). Cheers!
Thank you so much!!!!! Yes actually, im working on the best way to share it and I also want to get closer to my goal before a video! But It 100% is in the pipeline and hopefully soon!!
Delicious, healthy… what’s not to love! 😋
I WANT ONE!
Does anybody know if you can use the gluten from regular flour instead of using vital wheat gluten powder?
It's so expensive in my country...
it will be more like a bread then but you can use a bit of flour or also just have a lot less liquid into the mix. the gluten is really what gives the texture tho so it would be more like chick-pea patties which aint bad either
@@zaganim3813 maybe pectin would work?
Of course you can the thing is to make a patty with a kilo of flour.
Kind of on the dry side but as a fully round patty.
Wait a little then rinse that in water (pressing it with fingers) until the water looks white and milk like. Throw that water.
Do that step again as many times until the water is no longer white like milk.
There you have perfect gluten seitan.
Add seasoning steam, and do the same as him
Serve the chickpeas aside
@@Getnodrama I already did that a few times but I think it's disgusting, to be frank. I wanted to know if you can combine homemade seitan with something which makes it more tasty and not just a sponge of gluten
I’d call your steaming process boiling since they appear to be submerged in water. Can you actually steam them or is boiling the preferred method?
Looks delicious!
Hello can you clarify your steaming because they are steeping in boiling water? Because steaming for me will not involve them touching water but in this video It seems like they are in water except prevented from swimming.
As a Pokemon fan,...... I forgot where I was going with this.
Lol the name of this sandwich in the beginning of the video is quite a tongue 😝 twister😂😂 And the sandwich itself looks amazing! I definitely want to make these😋👌
That intro was take 90 hahah hahah
Yes - see, when you lie to people, you usually use more words than when speaking truth.
"Smushed chick peas"
Yeah, not exactly a title that draws
Is gluten flour the same as vital wheat gluten?
YES!!
lols you should etch the words subscribe onto your knife. :)
Great video and one of the easiest recipes I've seen in a while.
Looks good! I'll have to make them when I win the sprinter van.
I think that looks really good to be honest. Your funny. 😂 Loved the video.🙂
Not sure why you kept saying steaming the pieces were submerged in water. So boil it?
Chickpea-fil-a.
If you don't like this, try this...if you don't like this, try this... If you don't like this, give up and just eat meat. Haha honestly I watch your videos all the time, always great!
Looks good! Seems like you could also make schnitzel w this method
I used to work in a German restaurant almost 40 years ago, and thought the same!
Ahhhh I love this idea!!
What's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?
I never had to pay $300 to have a garbanzo bean on my face.
Nugget, biscuit, nugget in a biscuit
Nugget, biscuit, nugget in a biscuit
Nugget, biscuit, nugget in a biscuit
Kept it real about the 40 year old stomach 😅
its wild how much changes in just a few years past your thirties haha im trying to get it back
Can the chickpea slurry just be made with besan? If so, how much besan and water?
How much broth do you put into the blender after the chick-peas? Thank you.
Chickpeas lay havoc on the gut. Good luck with this sandwich.
Thanks for this man
I’m not a complicated guy. I’m pausing at 3:33 to congratulate you for slaying that maple buffalo better butter biscuit line 😅
I always enjoy Monica's appearance.
Can you use northern white beans instead of chickpeas because I’m not a chickpea person by chance? Thanks 😊
Hi there I am writing from Lebanon and I would tell you a thousand Merci for your videos.. I would ask you to think about a vegan shawarma or Doner.. Thanks
Any tips? Did everything as the recipe said but once I added the gluten flour, it never turned into the nice dough ball. Mine just turned into a thicker liquid. Tried it twice too. I have a Vitamix btw
Did you use vital wheat gluten or just regular gluten flour? For washed seitan recipes regular flour is fine but the quick seitan needs the vital wheat gluten. ✨💕
So this is just bread on bread sandwich ?? 😂😂😂😂
It looked like they were boiled, not steamed. The end product looks delicious.
100 percent never believed that to be chicken but wish yah all the best on respect you right to believe so 😂
Heads up, your link for Omaze isn’t working.
Oh no! just tried it from mobile and from my computer and it seems to be working now!!
I love chick peas, and now I'm going too have to attempt this. Could this lead to a possible vegan Chicken Nugget?
Ohhh totally!! So look up the recipe for Chickwheat!! Its what I based this off of. Its a phenomenal recipe on the website avocadoandales!
I love that steamer, where did you find it?
Bruh why is that patty so large? And how was that steaming?! I can't.
Praise JESUS for creating chickpeas!
I want this in my face!
Sidebar, Mark, you are looking very fit and trim!!
IT WAS soooo GOOD!! and thank you!!!!
Hope to hear back - could I use rice flour instead?
Could you use chickpea flour in place of gluten?
What are your thoughts on the Adam Ragusea knife I caught you using?
Will glutinous rice flour work?
What brand is your cooking pan?
I'm a single person. Can these be frozen? Maybe after the steam/simmer/rest cycle? Then take out to defrost individually and fry at that point? Maybe already fried then air fryer to crisp up again straight out of the freezer? Anyone have any experience?
Sorry for the onslaught of questions lol.
before frying
What's that pan that you used to steam called? It looks super useful!
Its an Always pan! They are pretty great
GOOD EVENING SAUCYMAN!
Yay, more CHICK'UN!
