AOB is the greatest trainer in the planet. He did it last year with Auguste Rodin and now City of Troy- Best 2yo in 2023. What an amazing race horse! Showed a potent turn of foot and won going away. Another brilliant ride from Ryan Moore. City of Troy is blessed with speed and stamina and he had all the 8f-12 f races at his mercy. Best son of his sire, Justify. Congratulations to Team Coolmore for a fabulous victory and AOB on a record breaking 10th winner of the greatest race in the world.
Are all English races like this?: Every horse in the field was the direct son of great sires, so it was like a breeders cup and a real test of Justify bloodlines. I counted two progeny of Sea the Stars, at least 4 Camelots, another Justify, two Frankels and one Galileo. I am sure the dam side will be just as good. When I saw the lineup, I thought, can COT beat such horses!?
Justify makes the greats looks average. People still do not understand what justify truly did, and how amazing it was. It's unheard of now for a horse to win even two Triple Crown races in america......even with a full two year base. Justify swept it with ease and only 111 days from the beginning of his career. Just ponder that for a second. Even the greatest horses of all time weren't able to do with justified did in 111 days. It's mind-boggling. He also has an amazing pedigree so it should be no surprise that he made mincemeat of the best sires in Europe. Justify woulda smashed Frankel had he had the same type of babies career without routing, always staying at home, given lots of time to mature and stay only on grass. He truly is the most gifted horse of all time
Well, I am impressed with any horse winning any English or Irish race, because the tracks are so difficult looking. I don't think we have any tracks in America that go uphill, downhill, and around curves banked right or left. Most races are shorter in America too. They are afraid to let horses run over a mile, and you never see them galloping over rough turf.
Jockey did absolutely nothing wrong in a great position came to deliver his challenge off the bridal 2f out COT also off the bridal but had more in the tank.
