I'm sure that Willie Carson still can't believe that he got beat on Hot Grove with Lester extracting the last ounce of effort from The Minstrel to steal it
@@mikeharrington5593absolutely agree with all you say but let’s be honest Lester broke every whip rule in existence! If you count the number of whip contact you actually lose count!
The Minstrel was there in second place watching W.Carson on the long time leader getting weary!Wtf are you on about? It wasn't like he was coming through a pack of horses with a late run...They were battling from like 2 furlongs out!
*True to form Piggot hid £20 million pounds undeclared earnings in Switzerland which only his family knew about, this is why he left England and took up residence there eventually dying there. The British Public, once close friends, tv cameras, and the Press for obvious reasons were banned from attending his funeral. Tax Avoidance was the best horse he ever rode.*
Would anyone commenting on this type of material have actually seen past champion jockeys? Who actually saw Gordon Richards, Steve Donoghue, Fred Archer, etc - all from quite different generations from today? Yet you will often see screen jockeys making claims of such certainty, just as they do about others sports.
Don't know why you haven't considered his earlier winners. Crepello and St Paddy were way better than Tenoso, possibly Never Say Die as well. If I had to rank them it would be 1st) Nijinsky, 2nd) Sir Ivor, these 2 in my opinion well ahead of the others, 3rd) The Minstrel, 4th)Crepello, 5th)St Paddy, 6th) Empery, 7th) Roberto, 8th) Never Say Die and 9th) Tenoso.
Mon préféré était Sir Ivor qui allait devenir plus tard le père de Sir Gay Lord lui-même très bon étalon. Quant à Roberto, il restera dans l'histoire comme étant le seul à avoir devancé Brigadier Gerard.
Poor commentating from Graham Goode , who focused more on Lester Piggott leading and winning the race , rather than giving the horse ( Teenoso ) precedence over the jockey.
No disrespect but i have just watched these rides by L Piggott and i dont see why they claimed that he is the best!I dont see no great timing or brilliant horsemanship in and out of traffic, coming from mid pack or from last to first..Always on the leaders shoulder with big favs..Ryan Moore is a better jockey than this man!
Brilliant jockey and all great horses . Lester piggott was a legend.
Roberto…relentless riding
MAXIMUM EPSOM DERBY WINNER LESTER PIGOT😮😮😮
No one else could have got The Minstrel up to win that Derby. One of the greatest rides in history.
