I agree totally- absolutely fantastic horse, the best i have seen in 60 years as well. Would have left Frankel for dead, though its difficult to compare different generations, for me the best ever
Correct, Frankel beat nobody, just oldies and former injureds. His guineas was against horses that never won another race in their careers. STS was great, Zaonic great before blood vessel issues. City of Troy wonderful. I don't put Frankel up there with those horses, beat noone and played safe at home.
Frankel was good but never won the greatest race in Europe the Arc so can never be considered the best European race horse ever, it’s as simple as that.
We very proud of our great great uncle. Have found two other video's the 66 Derby and the 1958 win on ballymoss. Anymore of Scobie Breasley British Pathe. I never got to meet him but so interested in his achievements.
Chris Breezo your great greeat uncle was a fantastic jockey the best timer ofa challenge theres been ,no bigger compliment can be given than that he was lester piggots nemesis.
There is nothing to compare with this greatest of all thoroughbred champions. Sea Bird had no equal. He won both the Epsom Derby and the Prix de l'arc de Triomphe in a canter, something that no other racehorse has ever done.
I beg to differ ... Mill Reef won them both just as easily ... besides opposition strength varies year on year ... who's to say which years had the best fields
@@jeanlawley6483 I suggest you watch Sea Bird's Derby win again and compare it with Mill Reef's win. Sea Bird was still on the bridle whereas Mill Reef's win was nothing like as smooth as Sea Bird's. Mill Reef was a great horse, but he was not rated as highly as Sea Bird.
agree with eddie beest derby winner and ive seen them all starting 1955 with phil drake not only the best derby winner but the best horse ive seen by a distance i,d have dancing brave second... as for frankel, how can you rate a horse that didnt take on the best 12 furlong horses that is the yardstick. in the 1965 arc de triomphe sea bird took on reliance the french derby winner (by 6 lengths), the russian, irish, german, italian, and american derbies and treated them with disdain the best ive seen ,,,YOU BET...ps a nod to two great fillies DAHLIA and the beautiful..ALLEZ FRANCE.
My picks (in front of Dancing Brave) would be Ribot, Sea Bird, Mill Reef, not necessarily in that order. In the Arc, Dancing Brave may have had another few lengths to make up to get to Mill Reef who would also have been running on away from the field. Can't really consider Frankel over this trip, generally ran against Excelebration over a mile, who he always seemed to beat by 4l or so, but in the St James Palace seemed to run out of stamina against Zoffany who would have won with another 50 yards, so probably not a 12f horse.
This is better coverage than we have now ...much more enjoyable .
This film is of incredible quality. Thank you! What a treat to see the great Sea Bird in all his glory.
Colour pictures the sound ot hooves Sea Bird ii and Pat Glennon were poetry in motion also easy winners of the Arc a truly great horse.
Merci infiniment pour cette vidéo inédite du mythique Sea Bird en couleur 🙏
Je ne l’avais jamais vu en action quel champion incroyable !
Merci encore
Wow won this on the bit! Class horse Seabird was ❤
Sea Bird was a truly phenomenal racehorse, certainly the best I have ever seen in the past 60 years.

Piggott thought Seabird was better than Frankel and STS

Seabird ll was one of the truly greats
He certainly was, Brett

@@cornet959 Dancing Brave should have won all three
I was born in 1970 so never saw Sea Bird II in the flesh but he ranks top of my list then Frankel, Nashwan, Sea The Stars and Dancing Brave.
Frankel was the best I ever saw but he was a miler/ mile two. Dancing Brave was the best middle distance horse for me.
Nice choices !

Experts the World over agree that Frankel was and still stands as the Greatest Flat Racer ever. Your humble opinion can never change that fact
