Great video family… we do it the same way down here in Florida, just burn the grass out and add more dirt lol… I’ve used that machine before as well… removing rocks…
Well, let's see..I'll have to buy or rent a scape tank, I'll have to buy a machete, and I need to get a roller. It might be easy but it ain't gonna be cheap and easy.
I'm new to sod. I actually am trying to fixed a small slope area. I laid some of the pieces vertical (literally 24hrs ago). Should I change the direction of these pieces or should just the sod alone?
On average you'll spend $300 for the trailer and the machine. Hiring someone to lay 3 pallets of sod will cost you $950 and that doesn't include the sod, dirt and delivery fees. So yes to easier but not cheaper.
Doing sod is no where close to easy. They make it look easy cus it’s 3-4 ppl with machines. Imagine doing it by yourself and having to carry and walk everywhere, each square weighs 25-40lbs, Placing down sod is one of the hardest job I’ve done. Especially having to fill in a whole yard with 8 pallets. Took me 19 hours over the span of 3 days. After each day I could barely walk or bend over
Not True, We've done this several times and have never had an issue. Bermuda, Zoysia and St. Augustine have all done well using this technique. We have not tried other grasses.
@A-Veteran Land Scape & Site Work I've used this method several times with Fescue and bluegrass, it works great and avoids harmful chemicals as well as saves prep cost of a complete tear out. This is definitely the way to do it if you can! Great work!
I saw some guys making and using a u shape wooden thing with a piece of 2" x 12" x 36" for the bottom and 2 pieces of 2 x 4 x 48 one on each side with some screws or nails to the bottom piece. You put it on top of sod and step on it and move it and repeat until you flatten the whole sod, that helps sod make contact with soil and should work on small yards. It will be time consuming but cheap. I might do that myself, don't have roller and no truck to rent roller neither.
Very Nice video like the music. Damn I got tired just watching you for 5 minutes Thank You.
Hell to the yeah! It's always easier when someone else does it! 👍
Now that's my project for this spring ...I'm going to do my 1550 sq ft yard....😉

Good work 🙏 that machine caught my eyes 👀

The joints should never show as they do in this video.
Awesome! Thanks for showing this, I’m doing this today 🙌🏽
We're glad we could help
What's the name of that tractor? I need to rent one.
It's a dumper
I'd like to find a Scape Tank, but google comes up with nothing, thinks I'm looking for an aquarium, lol. Is there another name for this machine?
Sod is a swear word here in the UK ie sod off ! We call it turf. How does it look now though ?!
Didn't know that. It looks great.

Do not lay the sod down the slope lay it across the slope, staggered like bricks.
If you have the money to rent a trailer and this equipment, isn’t it easier just to hire someone to do the whole job?

Don't you need to till? The roots underneath won't come back?
No they wont make it past the new grass roots.
Yeah you should till it this is the easy way not the correct way.
Should always have 3-4 inches loose soil for the sod to sit on.
What is the machine called ?
We call it a scape tank, others call it a powered wheel barrow
Nice one my friend ,keep growing
Thank you
I just uploaded the video ruclips.net/video/5floEOY2oRA/видео.html

Good video. Next time let me choose your music...
I'll take you up on that offer
I can’t see the words in red. What was that laid b4 the sod?
Well that’s the right way but you can let right on top the old grass if you water and water and water and roll in roll and roll it.
That's a really bad idea. The roots won't go through all the old grass and thatch.
They definitely do.
wow, that is super easy, anyone can do it, thanks!
im not grass

Very nice job 👍🏾 great job well done 🤜🏾🤛🏾🍺
What kind of dirt are you using?
4 way topsoil or enriched topsoil
Shocking😂😂😂😂😂😂
how long have you guys been laying sod this way, should you kill the weeds first?
If you treat the weeds you have to wait a few weeks or more. The weeds won't grow through the sod, and are in shock from the initial burn out.
“Scraping” down to the dirt without killing the existing grass, will lead to sod dying when the existing grass heats up from decomposing

@@a-veteranlandscapesitework2413 thank you for busting the myth
That is cheating. all the wheelbarrows I ever pushed are for nothing🤣
Can I use something else besides a lawn roller?
Not really. You wont get the air pockets out.

Loose the background music
I'll consider it on the next video.
It's very loose
Yep that's a easy way 🤣🤣🤣🤣
