Great glad the charger lives on!
Is the engine ok and for sale possibly, Thanks Mike.Glad to hear you are ok from that crash!!
@mikesylvester1021 Yeah the engine is ok. Not for sale. Will be getting the car back in the shop soon to repair the frontend. Mostly damage to the bumper, headlight, hood and driver front quarter panel. No big deal.
Ok I know this is older….. what I can’t find anywhere is that size vacuum lines are needed for the brake booster and the evap? I have the same intake sitting in the shop but can’t find this data anywhere. Before I take my car apart
Will this sniper intake clear the hood 2006 charger daytona rt anyone?
How badly is the frame on your charger? Hope I will not be to difficult. To bad the hood got hit hope you can repair it You have put a lot of work on the engine and car. I got lucky and found a 06 oringl srt hood for my charger daytona I plan on doing the same intake as you have done but I'm adding a torqstorm supercharger and other mods. There is not a lot of video on the 2006-08
Sniper intake install out there I mean none, but us,any others? Thanks Mike.
I have heard you can loose about 30hp under low rpm but does perform on the top i live in a small town no were near a dyno of any type. That is why i cant wait to hear how you made out, I have already purchased everything I believe I should need. Over 1500.00 and counting not including the S.C.
.
@@mikesylvester1021 No frame damage. All cosmetic. I'll try to get a video up in a couple weeks. Everyone has their option on the intake. I put it on because we liked how it looks and were having to rebuild the engine anyway and wanted to put on some upgrades. Its not a racecar. Mostly daily drive and a few track days for fun. We gained about 20% WHP with the mods we did. I'm happy with that. Could we gain more, sure. Not in my budget. Just wanted to get the car running again after 2yrs of sitting behind the shop.
Please keep me posted on your charger as your the only 2006-2008 charger adding the sniper intake with the adapter plates and hood clearance are you parting out the car? Hope your OK! Mike
@mikesylvester1021 We are ok. We bought the car back. Will be getting it back in the shop soon.
Did you get the intake on hows the performance and does your hood clear the intake with those adapter plates.
@mikesylvester1021 We finally got around to getting the intake on. Even had the car running and on the dyno. Unfortunately two days after that we hit a deer and the car was totaled by the insurance. The stock hood did not clear the intake. We used a SRT hood. With a little modification on the underside, the hood fit just fine. I will post a video on that and the damaged car shortly.
Oh man what a bummer for you, hope it all works out for you.
How are you doing safe I hope? Are you parting the car out. I need to pick your brain You are the only other 2006- 08 charger adding the sniper with the adatptor plates and hood clearance problems.
😢
Holley efi sniper rails are skinnier the the Holley efi black rails. I have them both and they are different. Bolt up and all the exact same but the rails are different
@kp .... you mentioned tapping the passenger side of the intake for your catch can port. Did you tap it? Any issues?
Had to put the project on hold. Never got around to tapping the intake for the catch can.
@TerryBRuggeman1 Finally got around to finishing the car and yes we tapped the intake. No issues. Then we hit a deer and totaled the car. Bought it back. Gonna repair it and get it running again.
@kpoutdoorcustomz137 fudge...how had was the damage. I wasn't able to get the holley sniper intake I wanted, ended up with the edlebrock setup. Then the trans had to be replaced. 🤦♂️ ... running now, sometimes I get a misfire code, not sure why, but I need to get it returned and the trans codes reset.
@@TerryBRuggeman1 Damage is not that bad. Bumper, headlight, hood and quarter panel. Hope you get things figured out with your car.
This intake looks great, but the short runners absolutely kill power, not recommended for a 5.7
The sniper is recommended for boost applications I am using a Torqstorm s- charger on my 06 Daytona 5.7
@mikesylvester1021 The 6.1 intake is still better for small displacement motors. The tiny intake runners still kill low end. This intake is only good for turning 8000rpm, otherwise it's basically junk.
Plus this is a square port intake and will not match the pre eagle heads.
Boss so the srt8 intake won't fit a 06-08 5.7 have also heard the srt intake you have to still use adapter plates to accommodate the intake(srt) man sure don't hear a lot of positives using the holley other than "it looks" cool im looking to gain about 20 hp on the intake change I may bail and pickup a nice srt one for 750 or so. Thanks boss, you don't think it will (sniper) perform with 9 psi of boost?
@mikesylvester1021 Due to the RPM range of the motor; and small displacement, the down low losses will severely outweigh any advantage of the sniper. I can't forsee a build I myself would use it on; the HI Ram is a better version of the sniper; but unfortunately doesn't clear hoods. For a 5.7 however I would either use the stock intake for only 9psi or 6.1.
Yea my motor won't see much above 8000rpm. What kind of gain do the Srt8 bring to the table?
