      3.Extreme Screen Wobbling

      I got the one from the hp website instead of the one best buy. I was hesitant after Linus Tech Tips tore it apart, especially regarding the trackpad... trust me, the guy was dead wrong about the trackpad. This is the best 2 in 1 that hit every single checkmark that I was looking for (the full size keyboard was the last selling point since I'm a data cruncher). It keeps the internal temperature cooler then you might expect and it does amazing with the options it has potential for. I will never keep quiet about how much I have loved using this 2 in 1 and I definitely recommend it.

      @@lunabright94 Linus's review is way off base. Not sure what his issue was but his is the only bad review that I've seen on RUclips or anywhere else. I've lost all respect for anything he says now and stopped watching his videos. I love my X360 though I do have an issue with the finger print reader not seeing my finger. I'm going to try reprogramming it to see if that solves the problem.
      Update: The issue with the finger print reader was...me. Lol. I wasn't keeping my finger on the sensor long enough. On rare occasions it has trouble reading my finger but the majority of the time it works fine. Most of the time when it doesn't read the first time, all I have to do is move my finger a little bit (after lifting it off completely) and it will read fine.

    May not be your use case but I definitely found the 2in1 aspect of it to be really useful for college classes and taking notes. It let me either write out notes or mark up lecture slides really easily. Its not perfect, but if you want to take electronic notes it’s definitely capable and so you won’t need to buy another device to do that.

      How did you find the tablet mode? Was it sometimes a bit to big and heavy or did you get used to the size? I'm currently trying to find out if I should get a 15.6 or a 14inch laptop. Generally I prefere 15.6inch in normal mode, but I'm a bit afraid that it might be to bulky in tablet mode. What's your take on this?
      I'm currently looking for a laptop for my engineering studies starting this year.

    • @King0fHero
      @King0fHero 3 года назад +1

      @@Marco-vp8wl I have the 15.6 inch model aswell, so I thought I'd take the liberty of answering for him.
      First off: I have to say that generally 2-in-1s aren't good at beeing a tablet for handheld use because of the then weird placement of the keyboard on the back and additionally the 15.6 inch Spectre is pretty heavy to always hold in your hand.
      But then again you always have a "stand" with you when you set it down in tent mode and most often I use it flat down on a table to take notes with the pen in class for example. So I have a portable device with which I can do heavier workloads like editing and gaming - even VR titles - and do all kinds of stuff for university all in one.
      So you'll want to consider your personal possible use cases first and then decide whether you want to accomplish them with several devices which are maybe more specialized or go with a 2-in-1 which is maybe often more of a "jack of all trades, master of none" type of device.
      I hope that helped maybe a little in making your decision.

    I am 73 and just ordered a mid version of this computer. I am not a heavy type software user, however I do want to start editing some of my drone videos, especially the one where I flew it into a tree and have video until it hit the ground, then the video stopped for some reason. The real reason I ordered this Corvette instead of using my older i5 laptop or i7 desktop sedan? Two very good reasons, one I like the looks and Mike says it feels solid too. Mostly though, I travel a lot and carry a laptop in my camper. I get very impatient waiting for the computer to decide when it is ready to do something. I have thousands of photos and quite a few videos and I like to look at them, and they appear slowly on my old one. I used to build a new desktop every year, however that is just not practical or for me, even possible. I like that this one is soldered together so I can carry it on my electric bike or wherever. While I don't necessarily like that I have to use a separate DVD deck to watch or make DVDs, at least it has ports to make it really fast.

    Five months after purchasing the labtop and with very light use, the hinges became misaligned and made a popping sound when I opened the lid. It had to be sent to service centre for repair, and the whole lid and hinges were replaced. It took three weeks before it was returned to me because the parts were on back order. Then about two weeks after it came back from being serviced, the trackpad had issues. The pointer disappeared and the trackpad was unreponsive. After being with online support for 3 hours without success in solving issue, I was told the laptop had to be sent in again for service. When it came back three days later, it worked okay for a day. Then the trackpad issue re-occur. I can not scroll, enlarge or do anything else with the trackpad except move the cursor and even then, it freezes intermittently, sometimes every 5 seconds. Tomorrow, I will have to call customer service again ... for the third time. It's been so frustrating. So much time wasted trying to get what is supposed to be a premium product to work. Meanwhile, my old Dell laptop which I've had for more than six years and bought at a quarter of the cost is still chugging along, and it never had to be serviced.

So when I'm at home, I simply plug in the single usb cord from the hub and use it more of a desktop, and simply unplug the single cord take with me on the go as a laptop for meetings at work, etc. The hub supports upto 3 screens and just really magnifies the usefulness and flexibility of a already great laptop. I rarely ever have to use the power cord that comes with this laptop.

This machine requires a lot of juice to keep it going. Plenty of other options. If you require video editing, CAD work-engineering, etc, then you might want to spend $2500+ on a laptop. But for the person that has a need for speed on everyday activities, this HP is fantastic.

    I will summarize it for everyone in 10 seconds: Mike really likes the HP Spectre x360 with a few minor quibbles such as when you turn the speakers up really loud, the fingerprint sensor can be touchy and some components are soldered in so you can't replace them (and why would you). Otherwise its great.

Also, I'm looking at my M.2 SSD right now, which is obviously another easy upgrade, should I decide to do so.

    This laptop does a very good job of Face Recognition for signing in. As a backup, I have my complete cell phone number backward as my PIN, which is nice if someone else tries to log on, or if the face recognition didn't work (which I haven't come across yet.) Of course if you're still paranoid, you can turn off your camera after you log in.

I had remote assistance 2X on two different occasions and while they were in my computer they even got booted off. Then I had a tech come to the house to change the WiFi card and he seemed to think my speed was good and it would be fine. Not so. Still booting me off the Internet. Tomorrow I will be returning it to Dell - not happy about it as I loved the Computer. It was fast and so nice to work on. I am now thinking of looking into the HP Spectre so was happy to see your video. Hope this decision will be right. Either I try the Dell again with a new one or HP or Mac Pro???????

What would be your recommendation, if not any of those i mentioned are any other laptops like this one or maybe different HP ones that are a good option? all the laptops on the spectre line is amazing based on features and specs. However, HP's quality just isn't there. Although not the gem cut model, i do have the 2018 x360 and the battery life isn't the best (though still useable throughout the day). Though the main issue were the hinges not being aligned properly and the fan dying on me. HP was able to fix the fan for me, but their attempt at fixing the hinge misalignment only made it even worse. again, amazing laptop, feature and spec packed, but do more research to consider the potential problems down the road. (fyi these problems came up within 2 months for me)

    It is not really a physical switch. It is just a switch that triggers windows to disconnect the driver for the webcam and microphone. That is not a physical cut-off on the webcam connection. Which is what we mean when we say a physical switch. A hacker or law-enforcement would still be able to use the webcam if they re-activated the driver. As the driver is still stored on the device. In the worst case a hacker could even load their own driver.

    • @Waltkat
      @Waltkat 5 лет назад +1

      According to HP it is a physical switch. It kills the power to the camera so that it can not be hacked and turned on remotely. The problem is the microphone is still live.

    • @NorseDisbeliever
      @NorseDisbeliever 5 лет назад

      @@Waltkat That is not accurate. When pc world tested the pc it revealed that it removes the camera driver from Windows. Preventing it from working. It is correct that this also have the effect of cutting the power. But it comes from removing the driver, not a physical disconnection of the circut.

      @@NorseDisbeliever That's not true. Here is a passage from PC World: "HP may have found the answer. Its engineers designed the recent Spectre x360 15 with a “kill switch,” mounted on the side of the laptop, that electrically disables the webcam. Here’s the kicker: if you open Windows 10’s Device Manager while flipping the switch, the webcam physically disappears from the list of available Windows devices. It’s simply not available to the OS."

    Great review. New sub here. I have the same laptop in poseidon blue. It's gorgeous. Just got it about 1.5 months ago. You're right, the fingerprint is not so great. I have 2 questions:
    - I have no recovery manager. If I do a search I just get the recovery media creator. Is yours the same too?
    - Also I have no separate Bang & Olufsen module. If I do a search I don't get it. And it's not in the apps & features too. I found out that it's in the HP Audio Control under output where you can toggle the B&O off and on. Is yours the same too?
    The reason I ask is because when I called HP support to confirm this, the rep told me I should have a recovery manager and B&O audio in the apps and features and I should be able to find B&O when I do a search (which I don't). And he suggested I do a laptop recovery to get these 2 things back which I'm hesitant to do. I did go back to the store where I got the laptop from and checked the exact laptop on display - it had no recovery manager and B&O app too, just like mine.
    Please reply. I need to know. Thanks.
