    You guys should give Angelo more screen time. I enjoy the more technical discussions.

    John!! In the future you should sell components of the pen piece by piece! People could buy one component/ sub assembly at a time. Every one would be different and people would enjoy buying a different tip / tube / button etc. too spice up their color combination.
    If an awesome pen is good a pen you can customize and change over time to your liking is awesome too!

    Maybe make a version with a retractable exacto blade.😎

    • @user-md3is4dq2d
      @user-md3is4dq2d 2 года назад

      Would call for a complete redesign of the body, and mechanism. There just isn’t enough movement to fully engage/disengage an exacto blade.
      I’m sure the idea came from fellhoelter, he can easily make the channel for the bolt a bit longer, they can’t do this.

    We tumble aluminum threads up to 32 tpi and never have an issue. Typically if you're having issues tumbling threads you're overloading your tumbler.

      If you listen to the podcast John said they will be offering parts. Not to sure it they will be just for warranty purposes or customizing.

    would some heat shrink tubing work for protecting the button when tumbling? then you dont have to twist the ziptie during the day

      @ruimarques_ 5 лет назад +5

      @@StoryUnlocked Yes, i'm aware of that. Don't agree with the method as i think we should choose finish, material, etc. Would rather wait a couple of years than to get picked to buy some random configuration.
      No worries though and thanks for replying. Been a fan for many years and will continue to follow Grimsmo's work. 👍

    • @ruimarques_
      @ruimarques_ 5 лет назад +1

      @AugustWest Exactly. It reduces the experience to a favour. I get the normal lotteries to buy a specific piece - supply and demand - but this maker's choice thing does not make sense and fails in every aspect.
      Don't mean to troll either as i really like their work, but i rather wait two years and get exactly what i want from another similarly skilled maker.

    Have you ever considered using cerakote?

    • @user-md3is4dq2d
      @user-md3is4dq2d 2 года назад

      I had cerakote on a pen of mine, I dropped it once and immediately, the titanium beneath was showing. I can’t vouch for the proper application onto the pen, I got it second hand. It was only slightly more time consuming to sand off than just standard anodizing, but I feel like it’s mostly due to thickness.

    Yes, PVD, CVD, Ion Beam, Vacuum Heat Treat, Vacuum fusion bonding. Laser engraving, cutting, closed forging dies. Yes of course. Lithographic micrometer lettering and qc code and bar codes you can interact with the life of your writing device and other knife stuff. MEMS technology of some kind that creates that one of a kind product with the ability to someday use IoT tech to help get metadata to determine to optimize to reduce failure modes and provide real-time feedback to allow for sharpening and refurbishment or recycling when a major failure mode has happened. You can provide instant support for warranty or adjust warranty based on use if used in extreme ways that could injure the customer or others around them that would demonstrate a violation of ToU or intended uses beyond self-defense or utility expected for your products. But then tailor them to exceed the extreme boundary case uses. Like a link in a chain for pulling you out of a ditch or anchor or safety clip on a rope climb or any extreme use beyond a knife or pen.
    I would like to see a mechanical pencil multi-use product or adapter from pen to Pentel type mechanical graphite pencil that is used in the manual drafting of engineered technical drawings we created and used before CAD systems became undeniable for ROI and time savings. Just like 5 axis is analogous to the manual production machining of decades past. The niches are there for a hobby, education, small runs of parts and prototyping etc. The point is some of us love the process of innovation and learning ways that continue to build on the long history we all enjoy from the innovations of millions that came before us to allow the amazing tech we get to innovate on today for the generations ahead. So leverage the tech that was in HDDs and Electronics and Aerospace to tools we use like a pocket knife and a writing instrument.

      What’s your job? The majority of jobs on this planet are meaningless and only serve to create convenience, entertainment, addiction, etc. Chill, Phil, you’re not some sort of messiah. Most of the things people partake in or spend their time doing is meaningless, if it makes him happy, at least he’s not acting like some comment warrior that’s all pissed off about someone else enjoying themselves.
