I agree. My 2008 12.9” iPad Pro with 512GB and Wi-Fi/cellular does everything I need it to do. The only downside is that the battery life is a lot shorter than when it was new. A small power bank costing less than $50 solves that problem. An OLED screen would be nice but not worth the price of the upgrade since I already have Pro Motion.

I would upgrade though if the screen was increased to 14 inch or the rumored 16 inch iPad ultra. The 2024 iPad Pro is still same same to me.

I am really just upgrading for the Apple Pencil pro to be honest. I have lost my Apple Pencil so many times that it’s annoying at this point so the find my feature is what excites me the most. I really wish I could use it on my current iPad Pro but since I can’t I am going with the iPad Air. I never really use pro features and the only real reason I have a pro is because of the 12.9 inch screen and now that I can get that on the iPad Air I think it’s the better deal. I don’t like that I will be giving up Face ID by going to the iPad Air but that’s really my only issue.

They should really be adding the option to ship them with MacOS. They basically have the widest array of hardware configurations imaginable when it comes to buying them, so why has that option always been absent? I understand ipadOS has always been one for the average people, but if you've been invested in the ecosystem for years and your paying roughly $3k for an iPad Pro then you deserve MacOS if you want it.

0:16 It is really genius that Apple made those tablet variants with those ideal size for excellent viewing. For example, the 11" replaces the 10" and the 13" is a new entry into the line up and they are both perfect sizes. 😎💯💪🏿👍🏿 I like how Apple trim down the bezel which make the screen look modern. Thinner bezels look more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 That's why I'm holding off on purchasing an iPad, I want to see it in person first with my own eyes at the Apple store. It may just be the video recording or the lighting in the room. I want to make sure that the nano-texture glass doesn't dim the OLED screen too much, I like the colors and deep blacks. I know its purpose is to reduce glare but I want to make sure when I see the OLED screen with nano-texture it looks great in-person.

@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 I've got a matte paper-textured screen protector on my 12.9" M1 and the effect is the exact same. Blacks are less deep in bright lighting conditions, but you get the advantages of not having reflections on your screen. In normal lighting conditions, or in dimly lit rooms, the screen still looks amazing. That said, I wouldn't go for the nano textured screen from factory having the option to apply one of these screen protectors for much less with the same results

However the iPad I use the most (by far!!) is my Mini 6, and I would love that to see an update! Something with a bit more horsepower for gaming, but I doubt I could say no if they did come out with an OLED model at almost any price.
Just a shame that it will also need a new pencil as I’ve become so accustomed to swapping the pencil between devices to sign or mark up documents now!

Curious as to how much better the screen, speakers, and hz rate is on the Pro compared to the Air.
I don't mind paying the extra for the Pro, if there is a noticeable difference.
I don't need more power, but I do travel on average 9 months out of the year and mainly will use to consume content/read docs and edit a couple photos here an there in lightroom.
I like I said, I don't need the extra power of the Pro, but if the better screen and speakers are noticeably better will make me more than willing to pay for the pro.

my issue with ipad is that its a mobile OS essentially designed for phones - yes they've expanded and tweaked it BUT it's extremely limiting in some aspects. I'd consider the Air if it had a desktop mode or was able to run desk top apps (similar to how mac os can run certain ios apps). i use tablets mostly for watching media content...sometimes I switch to it if I'm reading and want a bigger screen over my phone or if I want to play a game that has more detail -- but when I want to get some real work done using MS office, or even use my 3D printer, or use specific software I am having to switch back to my laptop.
At the moment I just use a cheap tablet and have the M1 MacBook air - I was looking to upgrade to either the M3 MacBook but I'm tempted by the iPad air 13 (it's a cheaper option, still has the M2 BUT the OS is a concern)
They put a desktop chip into a tablet but then use a mobile OS - the only logic behind this is because the moment they put macOS on an iPad the MacBook sales will plummet (so naturally apple wont do this).
It's now got to a point where we are carrying so many devices around with us - watch, tablet, phone, laptop...now vr headsets. At least Apple have moved over to usb-c so we don't have a host of cables too.
it's wishful thinking but at the WWDC it would be nice for them to announce a way to use desktop apps on an M chip ipad

I have finally decided to get an 11-inch iPad Air with 1TB of storage. Previously, I planned on getting an iPad Pro because only the iPad Pro models then had more than 256 GB of memory.
My current iPad Pro is an 8-year-old 10.5 inch with 256 GB of memory so the model I plan to get has three improvements:
    1) faster chip
    2) bigger display
    3) four times the memory
Of course, if money were no object, I would get the new iPad Pro but with limited financial resources the one I chose represents the best value for money that suits my needs.
Of course, the marginal increase in performance with the M4 iPad Pro is substantial, but to me simply doesn’t justify the marginal increase in price after doing a cost benefit analysis. The marginal gain in utility for what I mostly use my iPad for - editing videos using iMovies - doesn’t justify the marginal cost.
As a matter of fact, to keep costs down, I’m not getting the cellular feature not the pencil nor keyboard.

@zt9233 apple can do whatever they want at this point cause apple magic. i was really hoping for a 120hz ipad air but thats not coming either. apple is so fucking greedy with the upsell. i have a tab s8+ from a few years ago with 120hz and oled screen. bought that for 300. My girlfriend wants an ipad, but doesnt want an android tablet cause "it doesnt feel premium" i cant get her to see how hard apple fucks us. 600 on a machine that can only run mobile apps at 60hz is crazy.

A 60hz screen is honestly fine for everyday users that don't care about tech specs. Android had 120hz locked phones a few years ago and they even back tracked to VRR because they knew it absolutely fucked the battery life. Even with my galaxy S24+, I just keep it on power save (locking it to 60hz) because I don't care about how fluid scrolling feels when it heats my phone up and kills the shit outta my battery within a few hours, compared to 60hz which just keeps it alive for days. 120hz isn't a necessity

The reason we're seeing M4 is to save Apple money. The M3 node process at TSMC was novel and unique to Apple hence why it was so expensive but the new node process at 3nm for the M4 will have more companies using it like Nvidia therefore higher yields and production and so lower unit costs.
They're going to roll out the M4 across all products, the M3 is a transition processor.

He would sometimes nag that his iPad reached a layer limit when he gets a job to draw in a very high res canvas. Then I realized that this thing called a Pro for a reason, and there’s actually a user base for the absolutely ridiculous spec it has. It’s a very niche and narrow user base but it’s also one that is very loyal with unlimited budget to spend. Admittedly, 99% of people who bought the Pro will never use 99% of its computing power. But for the 1% remaining, iPad Pro is a godsend device for them

why buy an M3 macbook pro if the M1 macbook pro will do everything just a bit slower? I mean thats your choice right - buy an older used/clearance or get the latest and hope it means it lasts you longer. The power arguably doesn't need to justify itself now - you buy an M4 it'll last you 6, maybe 7 years? Not bad.

As someone who just got his first brand new macbook ever yesterday, along with a brief MacOS manual from a book store. It's nothing to fear. The macbook track pad geuture system is very similar to an iPad while the app layout is identical. You wouldn't be as lost as you think. Heck it even syncs with an iPad and iPhone making everything surprisingly seemless when transferring photos and videos.
