Whew! Taku netting those fish was nerve racking for me, I can't imagine how hard it was for you. At least you didn't lose the salmon when you flipped. Can't wait to see you filet it.
So glad you are safe.. whewwww!!! Bet that was scary. Crazy, that you caught a ghost fish.. maybe that's why you lost that camera. He wants to keep his identity and location, a secret 😜
wasn't as epic as i thought ! title made it sound like he got flipped out at sea . he got flipped at shore ha . still sucks though , he lost a gopro :( . it was nature's way of asking for payment for the seabass and king salmon , HA !
Just gotta rig some camera bait on your rod like batteries and memory cards, i'm sure that camera will bit on that and you'll be back to filming with it in no time 😎👌
Awesome catch! Still good footage, man super hard angle to land fish on the kayak but you still did it! Gotta start rigging some lanyard clips for everything now! Camera and all! Looking forward to the next salmon dish! 🤙Aloha
Going into the drink once in awhile keeps us on our toes to always review safety practices regularly & keeps our information and procedures fresh in a mind to avoid panic. Keep up the great videos.
That was soooooo nice! Right after “3minutes later” how you slowed down, got the bite, then pedaled like crazy to bury the hook..... amazing Taku! So dope
Legit question, why do you keep pedaling like crazy once you hook a fish? Wouldn't it make more sense to stop pedaling and have the fish pull you, thus tiring it out faster making for an easier landing? Love your channel, bro. Shaka.
@@shatam3622 but when you're fishing for salmon on the shore and when they're heading to spawn, there is no kayak to keep the tension but the rod, Right?
@@robbienguyen3683 Its the hook. I dont know if you are required to use barbless hook when salmon fishing from the shore.. taku only mentioned that state regulation requires them to use barbless hook. Im not sure if its only for salmon fishing, kayak fishing or fishing in general.
Nice job bro. Try quitting paddling after you have taken most of the fight out of the fish, shorten your leaders a bit, and that should make it a bit easier to land them. I know how tough it is off the yak though. Tight lines 🎣
Experiment. Try hooking a fish and realing and just turning the boat towards it and fighting it without peddling. I’m interested to see if the peddling is necessary. If you are realing tension should be the same.
Super nice video! I once flipped my Hobie Revolution 13 in very shallow surf! I broke three fishing rods and damaged some other equipment also! But... that’s all part of the fun and you have to take the good with the bad!🙏🏻😃
Sorry to hear about your GoPro! I’ve lost one before too when practicing self rescue so that’s why I leash everything. Grats on hooking up the ghost and chrome! You’re on 🔥
great video! i feel like i should point out, if you're planning to release a fish grabbing it by the gills/gill plate can be harmful to it and can cause infections as the gills are very sensitive :( on the east coast, any striper we dont keep we make sure not to grab by the gill plate and always make sure to revive the fish and make sure it swims off strong after a fight as they can tire them out
Loving your videos Taku, and even if they seem "repetitive" they're still great to watch. I was wondering if you have a video just going over the various modifications and add ons that you have on your kayak. I think that would make great content for the aspiring kayak fishers out there, including myself! peace ✌️
your theory of ripping the fish around to keep tension is a little ridiculous! especially with chinook. you should be reeling them in keeping tension at all times unless they run on you. you're losing them because you're ripping the hook out of their mouth.
sometimes the voice over is better :P like when you were diving :P cute.....barb less hooks are nice for the fish. why don't you do another 3-5 rotations on your reel.....you give them a LOT of lead before netting. looks like they are schooling the fish AWAY from plankton :P watching you cook hits my bon appetite fix.....more cooking.....make jocelyn cook....PLEASE......MORE cooking....even normal shit....i miss bon appetit.....do it on the other chan Jocelyn ;)
Okay Taku. You've inspired me. I love sushi but am petrified to try making it myself. I just caught some pan sized saltwater white fish and would like to give this a try. I've watched your "how to" videos and will refresh myself. Where I am stuck is the freezing part. I know to freeze it below -20F for a week. Is the standard freezer good enough for this, or do I need a deep freezer? I know it's a silly question but this is my first attempt at sushi from something I caught myself. Honestly, I never trusted myself with anything that wasn't at least smoked or packaged by someone else. Anyway, I'd welcome any friendly advice here. Thanks in advance. ADMG! - Ryan

If you want a tutorial on how to surf land, Die Hard Fishing just posted one. (LoL! Yeah, I know you guys were fishing together that day. Sorry you lost the camera.) Not sure if you know but Rob on LunkersTV gave you huge props on one of his recent videos
Sorry to see the loss of your camera. Since you were in the shallows, try going back to the spot at low tide. Lots of lost dive gear is recovered at typically rough beaches using this effort...when making a beach exit, try tightening your abs as much as possible and paddle paddle paddle. Pro surf kayakers taught me this at Steamers Lane, Santa Cruz. (It's just north of the warf & just south of the lighthouse) looking forward to the cooking addition of this adventure.
I am glad you are safe and unhurt. Equipment can be replaced, you can't. You have nothing to apologize for. (Also a lesson to all, always wear your flotation vest.)
You didn't immediately release the Bass once you knew it was short... It's better for the fish if you did. But I hope you find your camera. * Has anyone ever caught a salmon on a traditional kayak or canoe? One without foot pedals?
Always enjoy a salmon fishing video, especially with the beautiful views and the whale sightings! For freezing, why not pick up some dry ice to fast-freeze it?
Always wondered why they name soo many fish after bass when they arent related. White Sea Bass or Corvina is in the Drum family. A better name would be White Drum, kinda like how the Gulf and Atlantic have Red and Black Drum
Nice job getting the fish but d$mn that was some nerve racking net work😉 Sorry about the cam, I rolled coming in from the surf like that once and snapped a $300 rod in half so I feel your pain!
Looks like your right oar caught water and turned around your balance at the wrong time. Maybe get an outrigger mounted up front right to help keep your pole forward when netting your catch. Looks difficult as it is trying to view, pedal and work the reel/pole and net. Sad about the lost footage. That camera is likely just bobbing on the sand 9" from the surface waves.
That sucks that you lost the camera. On a brighter note I personally really enjoy the angle of the video. Gives a better view of what you are doing and the fish approaching. Keep up the good videos. :)

Sucks that you lost your camera. It's also a bummer that the white sea bass wasn't big enough to keep. It would've been cool to see what you did with it. Still a great video though.
Ouch man! Watching you trying to net those fish was pretty painful. Without the audio, one would think you’re trying to beat the fish off of your line with the net. Lol 😆
Never apologize for kayak fishing, this is what I’m here for.
give this man his netflix show already

As long as they change this man and his passion I’m down!
Very good

etc. Stay safe!!!
The whales will do that to warn you that your getting to close to their babies
