- This handheld Wii plays every GameCube and Wii game with perfect compatibility. Wii Portables uses a real Wii motherboard that are cut up and rewired to be smaller.
This build was a collaboration project with GmanModz to remake (or Wii-make) an old, iconic portable from many years ago.

I am currently not selling portables or accepting commissions to make portables.
What do you guys think of this video? Do you guys wanna see longer videos or shorter videos? More gameplay/specs like the last video, or more process/narrative like this one? This was my second attempt at video editing, and I applied a lot of the feedback from my last video. I feel like I've improved, but I still have a lot to learn. Id love to hear any feedback and suggestions for my videos to make them better.
Shank Mods I love the idea, but pirated games, sadly, are just a deal breaker for me. Great design though!
@@mattheww.4726 You don't need to pirate games. Games can be backed up from actual discs using homebrew on a Wii into ISOs. Puts them right on a flash drive, put them in the right folder, and they are good to go

@@CenyTent easier, but the performance issues are a deal breaker for me. Dolphin on Android has come a long way, but it still has a ways to go before it's a good gaming experience.

@@itsaxel8088 It's takes a lot of time and effort to Port over recent titles. Either they spend time porting over games and have people complain about no new games, or release new games and have people complain about not getting VC.

Back in 2014 I was also inspired by Tchay's "Envision" GameCube portable and I sometimes find myself returning to that video just to imagine one day having the time and resources to make one myself. Your videos Shank Mods are even more of an inspiration to me. Watching this vid gives me the courage to get started on building a portable of my own. These vids are incredibly informative so plz keep making more great content for all of us Portable enthusiasts because they help trumendously!

This is really well made. I'd try to make one myself, but I'd likely mess up the wiring somehow and end up frying the circuitry. I also don't have a 3D printer, but that's a separate issue.
So what? What happens if you break a board? You learn from your mistakes, you get a new board and try again. Ive screwed up countless motherboards along the way of making a portable

Amazing build, I wonder if we ever going to get to a stage where custom mb will be used and chips transplanted in order to get it thinner, so far with all my attempts to build something portable I always end up in a lot of trouble on getting screens to work without having an enormous board making it bigger

This is by far one of the best portables...
this one (or two) man can make 3 portable Wii’s, Sony can’t even make a good portable.

I think the best way to one up this is a portable Wii U. A modded Wii U can run Gamecube, Wii, and of course Wii U games; that's not even mentioning the homebrew scene or the virtual console which is still active. It would also work with a similar control setup with a Gamecube controller adapter. Obviously it's HD which can cause some real issues with proper cooling and getting half decent battery life, but it would be really cool and a real step up from a portable Wii if it is possible.
I would love to have a PlayStation 2 portable I would honestly buy it

Well i use my wii/gc quite a bit, but on the go i take a wired gc (switch) plug into my phone and run dolphin, its emulated but runs everything just fine.

The idea of this is just ingenious.
It could be cool if you could use an USB DVD drive but still very cool!
personally I see no point. USB loading is faster, more convenient, extremely compact, and uses way, way less power. There is no advantage to using a disc drive
I presume that the type of person who's able to create/obtain one of these devices is also the type of person who isn't tethered to needing a disc drive in order to play their games. I can understand wanting to have one, but to an enthusiast the drive can easily be factored out of the experience.

Making this portable requires destroying several controllers, some of which are rare. We likely wont release the files without tweaking them to use more common parts like switch joysticks. If you want a cast though, Gman's Gwii is similar and is open source
My god this is perfect and has completely changed the final hopes for the portable I want to do.
This is incredible. GameCube (or Wii) portables have got so much sleeker looking, less bulky, and easier to actually play in recent years. Amazing work, man!
