I miss this guy. He was an ambassador for both sci-fi and science, because if you loved sci-fi, he inspired you to be curious and think, and thats the basis of a good scientist. I have always loved hearing scientists talk about how star trek was thier first inspiration. How imagination changes the world. Spock was often the first thing alot of us saw, that made us curious about what could be, and what is.
What I loved so much about Leonard was that he couldn't be more opposite to the role he played in films and on television. He was a passionate, creative, emotionally driven man. To play the role of a calculating, logical, and sometimes "cold" character like Mr. Spock, and to pull it off to the degree of success that he did, is a testament to Leonard's skill and dedication as an actor.
I find myself in a state of awe. For so many years I've been an avid fan of a man who I had no idea who he was off screen. After watching "For the love of Spock", this notion is no longer true. This documentary by his son Adam Nimoy is truly, at least to me, a precious slice of brilliance. I've always been a massive Spock fan, the sleek, cool and always collected alien from a tiny brown planet called Vulcan. Any space science fiction fan, especially those of us who know the character on screen, would do themselves a huge disservice in missing this documentary about the life of Leonard Nimoy. A true rags to riches story, complete with the broken relationships and unbelievable joy all in one spectacular film. May you rest in peace and may most of us remaining behind on our blue planet called earth aspire to live up to your humble story and devotion to your craft. If Adam Nimoy happens to read this, you sir are a absolute brilliant film smith, much as your father before you.
My favorite part of the trailer: "If there is a word you would use to sum up or describe my dad, what would that be for you?" "The first word that does come to mind is loving." "Love." "It's definitely just love."
I was deeply saddened when Leonard Nimoy died. Spock had been very special to me ever since I was a little girl. I got a lump in my throat just watching this trailer. Glad that so many other people remember him so fondly.
Fantastic documentary, laughed, cried, smiled ear to ear, happy the memories. What positive influence growing up with Star Trek had on my life ..WOW THANKS...
Funny how this is a better 50th anniversary celebration of Trek, than anything Paramount or CBS did this year. And while I enjoyed Beyond, it certainly wasn't something that should have celebrated such a big milestone. Still miss you Mr. Nimoy. I still remember seeing an episode of TOS for the first time in 1979 and being blown away by the sheer chemistry Spock and Kirk and Bones had with each other. LLAP and RIP Leonard Nimoy.
Just as with your parents, you know the day will come when the ones we love will be gone from us, but there is just nothing... NOTHING that can prepare you for it.
It will screen July 31 as the closing night film of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. Adam Nimoy will be there. prod3.agileticketing.net/websales/pages/info.aspx?evtinfo=224472~a70858c6-cd47-4e92-968c-c94c12db6b1c&

A hero more super than any from today's hero films.
Finally a new Star Trek film worth watching......
Just as with your parents, you know the day will come when the ones we love will be gone from us, but there is just nothing... NOTHING that can prepare you for it.
And I'm crying from a 2 and half minute trailer. I don't know how I'm gonna make it through the whole thing.
