I just wanted to put it on the record that the guy who wrote this commercial is Anthony Atamanuik, a Trek fan who grew up in Boston. He loved Leonard Nimoy from childhood, and was amazed and thrilled that Leonard agreed to sing the Bilbo Baggins song! Anthony created and starred in The President Show for Comedy Central, and is currently playing Sean in What We Do In The Shadows.
Ten years later and that commercial hasn't lost a step. It's still one of the best I've seen. The perfect blend of comedy, nostalgia, and good-natured kidding between friends.

Leonard Nimoy will always be the admired Mr. Spock of my childhood and adult life ! I'm so glad to have seen so many interviews of this Leonard Nimoy and was able to see a the depth and warmth of his personality . Little did we know that he was sharing a Jewish blessing of peace with his Vulcan sign . Rest in Peace .
I come watch this every couple of months since Nimoy died. I have a greater appreciation for it, now. Before, it was the best commercial, ever. Now, it's that and a deep pang of poignancy.
I love watching this because it is so funny at the end where Leonard Nimoy gives Zachary Quinto the neck pinch and I just laugh and I think that is classic and really funny and I miss Leonard Nimoy because he is an amazing actor and has got a great singing voice and I didn't he know he could sing and he just blows my mind away with the funny things he does like the Vulcan nerve pinch that he does and I just adore and love Leonard Nimoy because he is my inspiration and my idol and someone I can look up to. As a Spock fan, I thought this was great. 😄 The only thing that kind of bothers me is that they were not quite in sync when they said “fascinating” at the end but still wonderful!

I remember when this came out. This was such an amazing classic. RIP Mr Nimoy. There are only 3 left now. Kirk and Sulu & Chekov. And two of those three are never going to talk to each other again most likely. What I would give three of them to bury whatever happened in the past and get together one more time. It's just not worth it guys.
Did anyone else notice the amazing view Zachery has behind him at the beginning? That house he's in is full on jet age International Style architecture. Gorgeous, though if I lived there that red vase would be in pieces on the floor because I'm clumsy. The rest of the commercial is pretty damn good too.

Learned a great deal about dealing with life from watching Spock on TOS and in the eventual movies and appearances on the rest of the Star Trek series. Quinto did the role justice. Wish they were still filming sequels, but with better scripts.
It seems that Nimoy improvised that re-enactment of Spock's death scene at the end. At first, it just seems like a good laugh. However, if you think about it, this commercial must have been made when he already knew he was dying of COPD. It gives that improvisation a different dimension, like a spookier dimension. Maybe he had his own death in mind when he improvised it.
What I find interesting about it is that both Spocks were on the right side of the window. Zach's Spock saw Kirk die and Leonard's Spock was dying with Kirk witnessing
I love how even though Leonard is supposed to play the loser competition in this commercial, they couldn't bring themselves to do Spock dirty in the last minute.
I am surprised with this commercial as everyone else is on these comments. I agree with all of them like Shatner or the Hoff getting out of the self-driving coupe. That would have been awesome. One thing missed but this is a perfecto commercial. Nailing a great deal for people to actually love a commercial. Wow, just like the old days of entertainment. Just great entertainment. :)
