That's great, thanks very much, used to work in airline ops so I am quite conversant in notams etc. Will try my luck on a couple of days in the summer....but thanks for all your info.....👍
jsa2001 Hi thanks for commenting! There are camping sites and B&Bs near by, more information can be found on this website: machloop.co.uk Hope this helps :)
Yep, pot luck I'm afraid. Some days you go up and see loads, next day could be lovely weather but see absolutely nothing.... Are you going to be staying for a couple of days or just the one day? If its a couple of days then you should be good to see something if the weather is ok, but if its one day do some research into base closures and NOTAMS on the day, because you dont want to go up on a day when very few bases are open or nothing is allowed to fly in the area. This shouldnt be a problem but check in case. Weather is another big factor, go up on a clear day if you can. I'm not going to say warm day, because it is never warm up there :p. Prepare for the worst of weather, and anything that flies through is a bonus! Here are a few links which will help, and also there is a Facebook group which explains everything in the pinned post, and everyone is happy to help. Just dont mention the timetable (It doesnt affect the Loop and is absolutely useless), weekends (They dont fly on weekends) or what day is busiest! machloop.co.uk/ www.mjaviation.co.uk/MachLoop.htm facebook.com/groups/MachloopLfa7/ Hope you get there up and have a good show! :D Hope this helps :)
Why can’t you put a text in the corner of the screen during the flybys identifying the aircraft for those of us that have no idea what type of aircraft they are
Earl Klinestub That’s a great idea! To be honest I’ve never thought of that, I’m not sure if I can add them now, but I sure will in future videos. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks :) This video was taken from Bwlch bottom shelf through out the day. The Tornados and everything before were taken at and before 12 o'clock, with everything after being shot in the afternoon. The USMC Hercules at the end was about 5 o'clock. Hope this helps :)
My parents have a holiday home in Tywyn is it far from there? I've never been but it looks fkin awesome, I need to go. Any specific dates these aircraft operate? Would hate to go up there and see nothing , great vid btw subbed
Yes Tywyn is rather close, about a 20 minute drive away. It is an amazing experience I have been up about 10 times I think, travelling up from South Wales. No secific dates, just pick a clear week day (dont fly on weekends or bank holidays), and it is almost NEVER warm or with no wind, so dress warm and expect the worse weather. As long as you go on a clear day you should see something. I have only ever had 1 blank and that was due to a helicopter crash on Snowdon. Lots more information on the Mach Loop website, just google search "mach loop". Hope this helps and you get up there one day, might see you on a hill one day! :D Also thank you very much for subbing, helps a lot :)
Last thing, if you do happen to have a blank, it's not as bad as you think as there is amazing company up there, you will meet some great guys, and most importantly, the scenery is outstanding! Just think of an aircraft pass as a bonus! :D
I guess what I mean, is whether these are purposeful training mission (ie for low level) or more often permitted detours on a journey. I mean I know many of these jets are not based in the UK, often some just visiting for Airshows.
Andrew E because of how well renowned LFA7 (the Mach Loop) is even if crews are not specifically going there for low level, if they're in the area they will try to factor it in.
Yes they're getting on, but for the moment they are exactly what we need to fulfill our operational commitments. Why bin it off at a time when we need it most?
thefrecklepuny It is not you, ZG750 is painted in the desert pink colour scheme and is known as "pinky" or "Op Granby" I believe it is sadly soon to go out of service though so I'm very lucky to have caught it 👍
Min 2:14...looking at this deep terrain over flight, i do not think, that tornado is an old bomber. he is not fast, he has no stealth techniqe.. (f-15,16, mig 29 are faster) but he´s not 30 meters over terrain...no radar can catch him in this terrain. thats the reason tornado was build for. if the two pilots are a good team knowing the terrain, the enemy do not see them cummin, till it´s too late. techniqe from the late 70s. cold war.
Sorry about that, it's difficult to pan smoothly into high winds with a 3kg set up with a Nikon Coolpix with NO image stabilizer mounted to the top of my DSLR.
Those aircraft are so gorgeous and fly like a dream. The tornadoes are my favorite and they fly so fast and is fantastic to look at.
Have to agree, they are amazing :D
Jamie's Outdoors Are you lot drunk? Do you know how much crap the RAF has had to put up with because of this terrible design?
Excellent work, especially considering the wind. Nice job of those terrific flybys. Many thanks!
Thank you very much!
Been out of the RAF 30 years now and my job was LTech air radar on Tornado, nice to know they are still going. I'm not obsolete yet!!
You've got to admit the Tornado is a damned sexy looking plane.
threckulator It is one of my favourites to see through 👍
Yup, she is the most sexy plane ever ;-)
Wojtek Gorski Only problem being it has always been poor to utter crap depending which variant.
That's great, thanks very much, used to work in airline ops so I am quite conversant in notams etc. Will try my luck on a couple of days in the summer....but thanks for all your info.....👍
Absolutely no problem at all, happy to help :) Good luck to you and might see you up there some time :D
You need a dead cat bad!
Alan Smith "
Tornados might be old girls but they're a seriously cool jet.
And they look mad as hell!
Got to get the most of them while we can! They are amazing to see low-level :D
That feller with the two youngsters looked very close to the edge when the Chinook went through!
Is there any accommodation nearby i might make a trip with my camera gear.

The Hawks are definitely some of the quickest, lowest badass planes in the loop.
itsnotmeitshim Agree, love the hawks! Going up the loop tomorrow will hopefully see some more :)
Yes thanks, I will be coming from Cornwall, how do you know what day they fly and what part of the loop they will be flying in....pot luck?

Was all this flying on the same day
Yes, all on 21st April :)
Like the video...where abouts in the Mach loop was it taken also morning or afternoon...thanks

What kind of plane was the small two seaters?
BAe Hawk T.1s and T.2s. Hope this helps :)

Cheers pal, and no probs ;)
Your welcome, hope you get up there :)
Put plastic around the mic head. This will stop the wind noise ..
grabir01 thanks!!
What are those two smaller jets at around 330
jigaddy jigs All of the aircraft between 0300 and the last Hercules are all Hawks
Are any/many of these planes training or just doing for a joyride?
Andrew E I'm pretty sure they are all training :D Hope this helps :)
Joyride? Are you serious? LOL
I guess what I mean, is whether these are purposeful training mission (ie for low level) or more often permitted detours on a journey. I mean I know many of these jets are not based in the UK, often some just visiting for Airshows.
The majority are on low level training. Every aircraft in this video EXCEPT the very last USMC herc is actually based in the UK. Hope this helps :)
Andrew E because of how well renowned LFA7 (the Mach Loop) is even if crews are not specifically going there for low level, if they're in the area they will try to factor it in.
Super Video ! Did you ever go to the Doctors in the end and sort your wind problem out ?
Bobby Gooner Thanks :) Lol Still trying to find a solution! 😜
Sadd we still use them tornado relics!
Dont get me wrong its a great plane, just old, like russian foxbat is old
Hmmm yes they are getting on a bit... Still a great sight though :)
Yes they're getting on, but for the moment they are exactly what we need to fulfill our operational commitments. Why bin it off at a time when we need it most?
vidribbin It has never been a great plane - in fact a bit of a running joke in NATO
Is it me or do some of those Tornados look a bit pink?
thefrecklepuny It is not you, ZG750 is painted in the desert pink colour scheme and is known as "pinky" or "Op Granby" I believe it is sadly soon to go out of service though so I'm very lucky to have caught it 👍
Ahhh. Makes sense. Is this repainted as a one off for a special occasion then?
thefrecklepuny yes the anniversary at the time of the first Gulf War.
2:25 was that one of the gulf war tornadoes?
Yep! Its called the "Op Granby" Tornado or "Pinky" :)
The C130 looks like the BBC of planes
Hopefully we will do....Thanks again...Alan
No problem :)
just a normil day at the mach loop , the lads out for a old jont 😄
But a fluffy mike and a tripod for better results
Stephen A
In the future, but not really possible with my current set up. Thanks :)
the 2nd half of this video (hawks etc) was speeded up 1.25 x or 1.5 x. A shame.
Dom You're mistaken there, no clip in this video is sped up by any amounts
Jamie's Outdoors just watched again and I apologise you're right I think my brain was going at 0.75x speed last night lol
Hahah it's all good mate :D
Bonne prise de vue en spotting.
Merci :)
The sound of DSLRs was wayyy more annoying! Thanks for the video though.
Dvich that's what happens when you have a camera mounted to the top of a DSLR, can't think of a way to do it without the clicking being picked up...
And you are very welcome :)
I am sure there is a signal processing algorithm for that ;)
but they are not at Mach
Its short for Machynlleth, where it is located :) The name confuses lots of people :)

Shame about the wind noise.
Yeah, I appologise for that, in the process of getting around that issue, thanks for commenting :)
Mach Loop?
google it!
Epic place in North Wales, as smyffmawzz said Google it! :D
No F-35's yet?
Oliver Murray They came through once when I wasn’t there, should become more regular later this year, I hope to see one!! :D
Jamie's Outdoors I hope you do too - great videos :)
Oliver Murray Thank you!! :)
This video is ruined by the wind noise. Very distracting and annoying. Should have anticipated and blocked the wind from the mic.
wind noise is fine, the camera control sucks.
Sorry about that, it's difficult to pan smoothly into high winds with a 3kg set up with a Nikon Coolpix with NO image stabilizer mounted to the top of my DSLR.
very cool:-):-)
Thanks! :)
Tornado 👍👍
Too much zooming.
"Иглу" бы туда))
