This is a great idea. I took apart my audio engine a2's and found no sound treatment. Put some in and made them sound awesome. They really did have better components than I thought. A much better amplifier than my sound bar.
Now that you took the Subwoofer apart.... you won't have the same seal as before,trust me i had to replace the seal on my Polk Audio PSW10 100watt powerd subwoofer, My subwoofer sounds more like a 400watt subwoofer though its nice!
magnet quality is important too not just magnet size actually. some magnets can be small looking but have really strong high quality magnetic flux in them. making the coil have lots of strength to move the sub. so it doesnt need a heck ton of power to get loud.
And if this sub will use neodymium magnet yes of course, but this sub won't go even full excursion without cliping, coil will touch bottom of the magnet with full excursion, so this magnet is way to small, maybe not small but way too short. Deattached this magnet replace with two times bigger and design to same wattage and good to go cuz overall look of this sub is decent.

This is where the saying magnet size does not matter comes from. Just because it has a bigger magnet does not mean its a better speaker. I have a multitude of older subs like that one which could be equal to or out perform most of todays newer subs when in the correct set up. A lot of people assume if sound is shitty its got to be the speaker. Maybe its the box? The room? Under powered? The design of a box and shape of a room that said box is in can create a huge difference in sound quality. When i see a sub like this one i get excited because it usually has more to give than what it looks.
I like your videos. Your like Garret Claridge when he does speaker stuff but without the smashing of everything else. Loyal sub here

That 12 has a smaller magnet then my 8inch
The size of the magnet doesnt say much.. Some old subs have magnets as big as those on for example logitech woofers or tweeters and sound much better.

Accusound 8.6XD sub. It used to be sold by Audio Australia. Accusound and Audio Australia no longer exist. Accusound made plenty of entry level 5.1 speaker setups over the years.

Is there anyway that you could maybe do a new setup with the Bimers but maybe spray paint them white? Just I liked the power and looks of them.

I'm surprised they put bracing right behind the port, a big no-no. The subwoofer is on the cheap side but the enclosure and what looks like a class A/B amp makes up for that.
+Travis Piper I was surprised to see the toroidal transformer on the amp plate, you're right that it appears to be a fairly nice amplifier, often cheaper audio products skimp on them, which is quite unfortunate, as the amplifier dictates a good amount of the sound quality of a system.

Ascending Phoenix this sub wasn’t designed to blast the roof off, it was designed to be accurate, fast, and clean. And the softer suspension means that it doesn’t need as much power or as strong a magnet to put out the same volume.
