Super clean setup and nicely done! Love the inset sub look so much and the black texture paint looks much better than the "everyday carpet" moat people use.
Very Nice box. I own the Dayton Audio Reference HO 12s also . Fantastic choice of subs. Dayton Audio makes great products that perform very well in sealed and ported enclosures.
Nice Work! I've always found that with a sealed cabinet it sounds better if the drivers have their own seperate chamber in the cabinet. Still a top notch build tho !
A ported box doesn't have to sound bad. Personally space no object I'm a horn guy. I think sealed boxes can do well in confined spaces though. I haven't experimented much with 6th order bandpass and passive radiator though.
Nice. I’m personally not a fan of sealed boxes, I heard some that sounded great. But With the genre of music I listen too I get the output I want from a ported enclosure. But even with the ported boxes I built, and I’ve built over 10 boxes, and depending on some vehicle, I did not like the output or sound. My last setup which is on my channel was a 6th order bandpass wall I built and the output and bandwidth was amazing, but being that my whole rear of the car was a subwoofer box designed and sealed off can’t expect less from it. But I was unsure before doing a 6th order being that a lot of people say the bandwidth suffer and that couldn’t be far from the truth from my experience
I would never have mounted the app on it for anything happens to that amp you have to get a different one you have screw holes in your box now in ruin the look what I just found somewhere to Mountain but it looks really nice good work
This was a beautiful build, I expected T-Nuts and Allen Head screws. What Happened? Haha. I’m actually investing in two EMF Banhammer woofers and will be building a ported box for it! This was great !!!
Must be running single voice coil overs on those subs, which means there pretty low end subs. Only reasons to put 2 sets of terminals on the back, pumping 4 ohms thru those when you could have bought a slightly more expensive subwoofers and wire them together for at 1ohm.
Some of the biggest and baddest subs can have single coil subs. Single coil doesnt mean better subs, and maybe he wired it to 2 ohms because the amp isnt 1ohm stable.
Really nice work but I have a suggestion for the future and I am well aware of glue joints being extremely strong being I am a woodworker and in my past did custom car audio and boxes will split at the seems if not screwed due to the constant pressure exerted from high output amps, I’m not saying it will happen in all applications but I learned the hard way .
Any particular reason as to howcome you didnt reinforce the seals with some drywall screws though? Doesnt wood glue tend to come loose after some time especially in a box that's completely sealed?
Wood shop 101. Woodglue is a mechanical bond that is stronger than the wood itself. Meaning the wood will fail before your glue. If you did an advanced stress test, the wood would fail, the glue joints would remain intact. In case you aren't a woodworker....
Do a google search for subwoofer capacity and you will find a website calculator.. chose style, ported or sealed, and it will give you the necessary measurements.. also, massive audio should have size requirements for each sub
Sealed enclosures sound better in a car with the speakers facing the trunk and in you make a loading wall for the bass instead of it rattling the trunk they sound amazing
Great video, nice to see someone in Oz as well. I like your sub build here. Im currently checking out Beyma's new NMF range of speakers. I already have a car sub, but some sub towers next to my Event Opal speakers is something Im thinking about. Keep up the good work ;)
Not if its run mono because both subs will produce the same sound at the same time Say he had a 4 channel bridged down to two channels amd had separate inputs for each sub, then you would want a baffle because in some songs the left and right produce different sounds. Stereo bass from the bass outlaws illegal bass album is a perfect example. One side is hitting higher pitched tones and dropping down the frequ range while the other side is blowing sub 30hz tones.
Sealed isn't always the go to. Ported can perform the same depending on the type of enclosure you build. You could totally port that, have it face the cabin, and get a bit better sq out of it. Maybe even flip it like it is. Facing it away from the cabin at the back of the vehicle adds unnecessary resonance and increases spl, also turns it into a lid rattler lol! I'd try it facing the cabin and see what happens. In a build I did a long time ago I experimented with different positions. Subwoofers facing the cabin and port facing the rear increased spl along with improving sound quality, on only 400 watts with a couple of cheap 12" subwoofers from a big box store it was very impressive
Travis A bit confused with "ported can perform the same" Sealed or Ported normally is preference as some peope swear by sealed or ported. And some bash on sealed or ported for no reason without actually using their ears to hear then. And I think the way subs face is dependant on the car at times, some cars rattle more than others (play loud enough and there always will be rattle) and some trunks will do different things to the bass. But totally agree on playing around with placement. I have a sealed Ultimax 10"for the car but eventually will port it tuned to 20hz.
What I mean by that is what your looking for in the subwoofer and how it will act in the space. A small ported enclosure normally will give the same results as a sealed enclosure with the benefit of allowing the waves to form outside the enclosure, giving higher spl. You'll still get that punchiness the sealed box offers.
Actual brand name tools... Bosch is a deadly brand. Nice to see something other then Cheap Ass Ryobi or Dewalt 🤣 ... Great Design though my dude, Bass On ☠🤟
Awesome box. Do you build and ship? I'm in Michigan. Also I understood the reasons behind every step except why you didn't make a gasket to go around the back of speaker terminal cups? Awesome work but let me know if you can do one for me sealed. I don't even need the finish, just sanded. I can paint it here.
I added silicone around the insider of the terminal cup to seal it, I must have forgotten to film it! At this stage I'm not looking to build and ship, sorry!
I have seen countless comments asking what the paint used is called. Links to EVERYTHING used in the build is in the description!

Love the build

Great build, keep it up. Learned a lot from you.

Thanks for the support, good luck with your own build!

Yeah I'm thinking the weight of those unsecured speakers would probably make the clamps for the front unnecessary.

Other than all the clamps the box construction was solid don’t know why the polyfil but ya nice box
For acoustics. U want to poly the walls to have better sound and u can use poly to make ur box seem bigger than it is.
That’s not a true statement polyfil doesn’t help anything
Wat kind of poly helps sound and makes the box bigger than.

What is the little rubber feet called that you used when mounting the amp to the enclosure?
Anti vibration or isolating feet, something along those lines!
You can tune the box to youre preference. Like rock music is usually tuned around 40-45hz. Where rap is 30-35hz.
