This setup in an R8 is already pure madness, but this setup in a stripped 240 weighing a bit more than a MX5 is just absolutely devious. The most insane build of the 2020s no doubt, hats off to you Bjorck.

@PeterBjorck I guess you may already know this or have progressed with this issue, but during the video you mentioned having issues applying basic settings to steering calibration. On similar VW Group vehicles, it's common to need to reset faults/basic settings for G85 Steering angle sensor and "Steering limit stop" calibration. The G85 steering angle and steering limit stop won't take basic settings or reset if the "Wheel Speed Sensors" (IE the ABS sensors) aren't all registering speed on all four corners. I assume you can't register any signals from WSS if you aren't running the factory ABS pump? Great build, always good to see your updates.

  • @Saaketti

Steering angle sensor needs to be in certain window to be accepted. If I dont remember wrong steering wheel needs to turn over 450deg per side from the zero to be accepted as working sensor. Center position needs to be center as well. VCDS or any other tester does not show any values (if not mistaken) untlil the calibration is accepted by the abs/esp. Calibration may allso not be simple turn lock to lock. It may need drive back and forward too to abs to see wheel spin equality.

Hi Peter. I'm amazed by the complexity and attention to detail of your builds. Man, you're absolutely fearless. Ricky Elder at RE Performance in Swindon UK is a MASTER TECH of VW/Audi R8 and Lambo. The wires from the pressure sensors to the PCB are known as "angel hair" because they're so small, but if you can find a competent PCB repair place they should be able to solder the wires back onto the board, assuming that you know which wire goes where.
1000Nm of torque is just bonkers in the best way, I hope you can find all the bugs and enjoy it!

  • @thomas.m0par

@Peter - To me it seems that gearbox is getting wrong information regarding wheelspeed, I believe you said that you have different "rullomkrets" front vs rear, that info would then be passed on the ABS sensor system to the gearbox and confuse it. So I believe you are on the right track to finding the problem, however fixing it...

  • @uncleTedLol

Your steering angle is likely not reaching the required limits if your rack is different. The tolerance is extremely tight with calibrations, you'd likely have to match it to an r8 and watch the sweep values in MVB's and limit your rack for that during the calibration. And or software modifications would be required to adjust the map/function limits to have it run and work on the street - all of this assuming its using all stock r8 modules.

@@AndersHellquist sure aside from the fact that it has been completely broadcasted on the internet (lol) ……especially compare to a Tesla model S which is made in an assembly plant. Sleeper usually been known as a car that looks like a car that was never meant to be purpose built racecar fast but it actually catches people by surprise when it’s in fact been reverse engineered/engineered SPECIFICALLY to be purpose built for racing while still looking like it’s relatively original slow non racing aesthetic body style exterior……. I’d definitely still call it a sleeper to some extent……. Gotta remember there still a bunch of race events around the world where people probably never even seen this car in person……. Let’s say someone rents a sports car for a day to enjoy it on a race track and they are relatively not into cars but taking a holiday of sorts it’s still gonna have a sleeper effect to some degree. Some events people don’t know who is going to line up next to them until the last second when they get to the staging lanes etc . 🥸

That rear side is... well different. I think it would be cooler to be as big as the front because of the front nobody will even at first glance be fooled it being a sleeper. I guess it's kinda cool as different kind of esthetics but like I said, a large front would be more natural with large opening on the back as well. If that was mine, I would seek for small truck sized openings to the side with "Testa Rossa" style cuts leading from the door, maybe even some way of the door itself. I see you already got the oil coolers in place so the openings would be functional aswell.
