    Thank you for sharing these stories. So much loss. American Fork is where I lived, it is where David Hamblin's healing circles were often held. It is where the Lafferty Brothers killed their sister in law and baby niece. It is where a current victim of Hamblin's has been harassed (a death threat on her car, strange packages and letters.) American Fork area has a lot of wealthy residents. Important to note that dysfunction in the church is everywhere. So much sadness. Lots of trauma to go around in Utah. Thank you for talking about the hard stuff, it is important.

    Kerilynn was a family member of my best friend. He mentioned that the kids kept admonishing all family and friends “not to blame” their dad. Horrifying if you ask me. Apparently the wife reportedly suffered years of at least emotional and verbal abuse and just couldnt take it any more. That day she told him that she was divorcing him… he obviously was mega controlling and would rather murder her than let her be free 😡

      Without knowing anything about them, that's the first scenario I imagined in my mind when I was listening to the report. It's also odd that the report gives background on her, but provides almost no background on the husband.

    • @Balaganbetty
      @Balaganbetty 10 дней назад +1

      Actually he clarified that she said she was divorcing him a few days prior and he clearly planned this for a few days. He closed the blinds and locked all the doors so no one could come in and render aid. Horrible! Who is speaking up for her? 😢

      But if pride and honour of the husband was involved, then why have a GoFundMe for funeral expenses? Seems to me that this wouldn't be needed for a US middle class family with solid incomes.

    The "un-canonized" revelations of Joseph Smith. I can't help but wonder why I haven't seen any canonized revelation that explains how something becomes canonized. And if there is a canonized revelation that explains how something becomes canonized, but that revelation was not canonized as and when it was received, can we really trust any canonization that was subsequently based thereon?

      I pray that whatever community you all live in is far more kind to you when you're grieving the loss of a loved one in the not so distant future, than these remarks have been.
      This really does nothing to show how true Christians should act if you're pretending to walk a higher road here.
      Sad....
      This is really no different than how the Westboro Baptist church 'mourns' at funerals.

This book is so essential to understanding the life of Emma . I would also like to mention, this book was not received well by the LDS church! I am not sure if it's still in print. Definitely will not find it in Desert Book . I am rereading now.

    I guess FRM has some kind of inside knowledge. I guess he can be certain that one of them wasn't recently diagnosed with a horrible life ending condition and they decided to do this together right? Don't get me wrong. I do not think that likely. But it's possible.

    Exactly RFM, if your marriage is that bad and you don’t think there is any resolution to be had, at least separate, preferably divorce. There’s no reason for such drastic actions.
    But I think Rebecca has a very valid point. Divorce may be “allowed” but it is frowned upon. Also the assumption won’t just be that the couple realized they wanted very different things in life and had very different personalities. No, people will assume someone was unfaithful and committed terrible sins.
    There’s also I think additional pressure that causes and greatly exacerbates marital strife, perhaps not in most Mormon communities, but certainly in the Mordor to act like everything is perfect all the time. You have a temple marriage and kids, and you go to church every Sunday. How could life be anything other than sunshine and roses? Lots of toxic positivity and lots of prosperity gospel. So I think sometimes there is this attitude that couples can’t admit to themselves let alone anyone else that maybe things aren’t going so hot and they need to get into some couples and/or individual therapy. Maybe they need to take a break and have some separation, maybe just even bedroom wise for a bit, to decide what is actually driving the conflict and if/how it can be fixed. It isn’t seen as a normal healthy approach to life, it’s seen as a moral and spiritual failure.

    You guys are so corny. It’s cringy listening to you talk. Their kids are the ones that decided to have a combined funeral. You know the kids that knew their parents the best. You all stand on the sidelines and make commentary about the church but only those that are on the sidelines with you care what you have to say. For example the blond lady’s kids are super embarrassed of their mom. They would never be in her videos. They think she’s a nut job. I heard that when she got divorced, the kids lived with their dad. That explains everything!

      So you are saying the kids knew their father would kill their mother because they know them best so it’s okay? Who is speaking up for the woman who was killed? And the blond ladies kids are not embarrassed by her and she isn’t divorced and they are all adults so they didn’t go live with their father so you are wrong on every count but we appreciate your comment!
