- On this episode of Mormonish Podcast Rebecca and Landon dive into the latest affidavit in the ongoing Tim Ballard lawsuits. This affidavit was given on June 4th by Ryan Fisher, a close associate and business partner of Tim Ballard.
The details of this affidavit were so surprising to Mormonish that we had to drop everything and create an episode to dissect the shocking allegations.
If true, the systematic plan put in place by Elder M. Russell Ballard to have Tim Ballard infiltrate the world of evangelical Christianity for the purpose of spreading Mormonism, would have huge repercussions.

The one I'd like to see investigated is Thom Harrison. He was involved with Chad Daybell, Jodi Hildebrandt and Tim Ballard. He seems to be at the center of every crime in the LDS church!

I thought the timing of Elder Ballard's demise was suspicious, but now the fishiness of that timing is on a whole new level. Either they offed him to make it easier to cover things up, or the stress of all this starting to come to light was too much for him to handle in his frail condition. The colossal shame of the whole thing is mind blowing.
What if he's alive, just hidden somewhere? The promise that he and his family will be taken car of for generations if he falls off the map. I've wondered????

My niece who is a Mormon missionary keeps sharing posts featuring former Angel studios The Chosen Jesus. The Chosen is made by an evangelical Christian, Dallas Jenkins who has put out a video denying involvement with the Mormon Church. It seems to me though that there must be some agreement there for the image to be used without copyright issues arising.

Hi from Sweden. Lots of Christians and nationalists here, heard of Sound of Freedom and thought it was super cool. The Mormon connection was too complex and foreign for anyone to understand. They just believed he was an American Christian. I gave up trying to explain. The fallout is not known here. But then again, very few people here, convert to LDS.

Evangelical Christian here. I knew about Ballard before the movie so I "got lucky" to not be fooled. But I can't tell you how many people in my church community went to see it and then shared allllll over social media about how amazing it was and how noble of a cause it was 😢

There was something really creepy about the whole hype, around Underground Railroad. The hype was so clearly artificial, yet, nobody could challenge is, because then you "defend pedos". And the exploitation of kids clearly does not work in the way that Underground Railroad depicts. There have been so many instances of it exposed, in my neck of the wood, in the fallout from socialism/communism. There is a pattern, but it is not what Ballard claimed. The pedos do charity work, or volunteer around kids...Or go with young teens who are attracted by money and gifts. It is a poverty / wealth situation. Buying a "slave" in the way that Underground Railroad made out, appears really rare.

So the native Americans deserved their displacement because they “lost” Christianity. Fun.

It was so much fun telling people who were big fans of The Sound of Freedom that Tim Ballard was Mormon. That immediately got their attention and for once they had to think a little critically. They really did just slide this movie ro the Christian right and tried to kick up a firestorm. No one I told who was a fan and ready to go off on a new narrative had any idea Tim was Mormon, and it made a huge difference.

The LDS church was built on belief in patriarchy, white supremacy, and American exceptionalism. These beliefs are shared with many evangelicals in the southern U.S. I guess they think that shared racism, misogyny, homophobia, and American elitism will be enough to win the white Christian nationalists over to Mormonism. While white Christian nationalists may see people of color, immigrants, and LGBT people as “other”, most would put Mormons in that other category as well.

This really makes me sad. I really thought Tim Ballard was legit and working with organizations to help shine the light on human trafficking and exploitation!
The sad thing is that he may very well have started out with good intentions, but he let his ego get in the way and built up a web of lies and deceit; and ultimately got to the point where his moral compass became skewed and he started doing horrible things himself. Humans are complex creatures, and we very rarely do anything with one sole motivation/reason.

Elder Ballard gave Tim Ballard the Second Anointing. I think this is why Tim Ballard went so wild! I don't think that Tim Ballard will not keep his promise. He will blab the minute he gets a better offer from the Catholic Church or another group.

@@debbieshrubb1222 I will be honest I think how Elder Ballard supported Tim. He declared that he knew more about Nephi. I just don't think that Tim Ballard is stupid enough to constantly drinking in Utah unless he thought he had a carte blanche to do as he wanted. It is my guess. Call me out any time. I should have mentioned that it was my guess.
I can certainly see the trend over time (as a 73 year old LDS member). The good intentions of decent, caring LDS folks who go about their ‘do-good-ing‘ in a unsophisticated, sloppy manner are at risk of looking like buffoons when ulterior motives are superimposed over their attempts to accomplish something important and laudable. I think both Tim and Russell are good people with pure intentions but got waylaid by others’ agendas and by poor judgement enroute to accomplishing a potentially great work of exposing the problem of child slavery & abuse. They ended up with a complex web that appears now to be the work of calumny and deceit. So sad!

I don't understand how Mormon leadership could have imagined they would be able to convert Evangelical Christians. They already know that people have fondness for beliefs that have existed over generations and that indoctrination from birth in some set of fervently emotional teachings makes people virtually unassailable.
This is an absolutely fascinating twist. Season 2 of the Ballards miniseries already has me hooked. 😄

When i saw this David Boice guy appearing in video titles explaining his conversion from protestantism, I had my suspicions. Is that just a hunch or is there evidence it is true?
@@truthbebold4009 It's just a hunch. I followed David's channel during COVID and didn't think much about it, but enjoyed studying the diversity of denominations and churches in the US. What I did notice is that since David visited each church only once, a good first impression is very important. And with the missionaries standing at the entrance and helping newcomers find their way, the LDS Church succeeded in that task. But besides that I found it a great coincidence that he should pick Mormonism in the end.

The American Catholics today are nothing like they were 40+ years ago. I was raised Catholic and used to watch the Catholic cable channel EWTN back then and it was all religious programming, rosary recitations, etc. No politics. Now it’s nothing but politics. I read somewhere that the Catholic Church in Europe is nothing like it is here in the US. American Catholicism is basically an offshoot of Protestant evangelicalism. Why don’t they leave the Church of Rome if they hate the Pope so much? Which not following the pope is the most “uncatholic ” thing a Catholic could do.
