    Everything in the video makes sense to me as a begginer.
    I really appreciate the time people takes to show us something good, with quality and with knowledge of matter.
    I will use this to help my 7yo boy how to swim correctly.

    Seriously.... Thank you so much. I've been trying several different techniques and still swim the same. I'm not a good swimmer, but love swimming cause it's a fun challenge. Thanks for the vid again.

    I utterly agree with you. I had been a swimmer once and was told to keep my head a bit lifted, to look in front of me. With the head down it actually means to have a greater water resistance

    I've been thinking about that. I think he means the angle between the whole arm (not just elbow) and shoulder. Your arm hanging at your side would be 0º. Arm in line with your torso, directed straight forward (parallel to the surface), would be 180º. He advises to extend your arm so it ends up a little more angled down than than just straight forward, that's the 170º.
    Another way of looking at this is what "Total immersion" recommends: just find the arm angle at which you feel balanced.

    yes swimming does help you lose weight as much as or even better than running. i suggest you join a swimming club because a lot of leisure swimmers find it hard to gain the full benefits of swimming without a coach.
    you said your knees hurt when you run, you might find that if your shoulders are as weak as your knees they are likely to hurt while swimming. so i suggest you join a club so a coach can help you and remember to always do a warm up and cool down.

  • @adamlewis934
    @adamlewis934 15 лет назад

    it depends wat distance your doing. if you're doing a 50m or 100m you dont need to get a full extension if it means you can get a faster stroke rate.
    as a long distance swimmer myself i try to get a full extension and make the most of every stroke. this allows me to hav a slower stroke rate which is not as much hard work while still maintaining a decent speed.

  • @hans1066
    @hans1066 15 лет назад

    i think its important to stretch your arms as much as you can that brings automatically your opposite shoulder out of the water and makes its easier to stroke...

  • @Tharrild
    @Tharrild 15 лет назад

    exactly - I'm hoping you aren't swimming in an environment that you are completely oblivious too.
    That's why there are markings on the bottom of a swimming pool, so you have an estimate as to how far away from the wall you are.

    @muffinqueen10293 People who are looking for videos like this are usually triathletes looking to improve their times. You don't improve your time by ignoring bad habits that make you inefficient in the water. Swimming is definitely not a simple thing for most people, technique is more important in swimming than just about any other sport.

  • @adamlewis934
    @adamlewis934 15 лет назад

    i disagree with one thing in this, you should not keep your head straight down, it should be looking down and foreword sort of diagonally. if you have it straight down your whole head will be submerged creating more resistence. it might sound picky but if you want to reach the top level at swimming, you dont want to be adding a second every 100m to your time, which is what a bad head position can do.

    Many times, being a champion doesn't mean to has a great tecnique, being a champion means to has a lot of things. Obviously, there is not just one perfect tecnique, some tips maybe different,e.g. A.Popov & I.Thorpe...Anyway, I'm agree with cianwash: when you swim your head shouldn't be facing down, not just to avoid to crash against a pedal boat or the swimming pool wall, but it's usefull to keep a good streamline position...But we have2remeber that swimming in the sea is different from pool...

    so far i have only posted 1 video. please check it out, 'swim front crawl swim freestyle animation' and let me know what you think. thanks, now, as for the breathing, just brush your hip aside and roll to air. sounds easy doesn't it. it is, but like all things it takes practice.as your elbow exits the water(after the 'pull' phase, your hand is naturally brushing aside your hip, roll to air here, front arm stays long as you breathe. good luck

  • @bobmarketing

    this stroke isn't really for a 100m sprint. in a 100 look at getting your arms going like a windmill and keeping your head still. you should aim to break your 50m pb in the 1st 50 and go on the break your 100m pb through sheer speed of rotation and kick.

    i think you're putting too much into this.
    i think that swimming should be a simple thing and shouldnt be overloaded with so much info.
    whatever works for you should be good enough (if you just dont bend any limbs).
    i mean, i dont do most of this and ive been swimming for 4 years
    i have won many medals and still havnt changed my style of swimming
    even if it might not be "correct"
    swimming is the own person's style.

    I like your attitude. Keep going.
    Please check out my video on front crawl, 'swim frontcrawl swim freestyle animation',
    It is about timing. In order for the hips to power the stroke, the arms have to be in a certain position just before the body roll. ( after what i call the swing and fold movement, others call it the catch phase)
    let me know what you thought. thanks. from a swimming professional who geuinely cares about his pupils progression. nice one and happy laps.
