  • Between 1975 and 1979 more than two MILLION Cambodians died, either straight up murdered, or starved to death by the horribly incompetent rule of the Red Khmers.
The communist organization, locally known just as "Angkar" wanted to create "year zero", and reset the Cambodian society. Their approach to it was brutal.
All cities were evacuated, and the whole country turned into a big concentration camp. Anyone suspected of being a traitor to the revolution was murdered. However, if the Red Khmers suspected you had important information, they would send you to be interrogated. If you did not directly tell them what they wanted to know, they would force you under torture. Once you had confessed of being a spy and given up everyone you had ever known, they would finally kill you.
In this video we visit S-21, the heart of the prison system in Democratic Kampuchea (as Cambodia was known at the time), where up to 20000 people were being interrogated and tortured. We then head onwards to "Choung Ek", also known as the Killing Fields, where the prisoners would be taken and executed.
Join us as we explore the horrifying past of Cambodia, and the legacy of the Red Khmers!
