    The lights interacting with the smoke in the studio around the car looks amazing.

    I am glad that you fixed the AO pass, which was broken for so many years, and changed the way we can handle the ZDepth.
    Though, I think that the multiple rename should be different. You should take the Maya one as a very good example.
    With your method you are assigning the same name to all the selected objects, which is not good at all.
    In Maya, when you rename multiple lights or similar objects at once, the software changes the names by adding a number at the end (e.g. spotLight_01, spotLight_02, spotLight_03...).
    The open vdb support is also very much appreciated.

    Maya on the other hand can only have unique names which is a problem when working with references/clones. There is probably no right or wrong but keeping in mind that many things like variants are name based it allows you to affect multiple nodes at once. When renaming things you probably don’t want them always prefixed with 1,2,3 (what happens when you create sth. new) and change the name to sth. more unique that fits you needs.

      Yeah, Maya deals with that by using namespaces on import/reference, which works quite well.
      Example: importing different cars rigged with the same system.

      Also, Maya can have same names for objects that live under different groups.
      Though, generally speaking, yes, Maya actually relies on differently named nodes/objects. That doesn't affect the ability to influence them all at the same time, with expressions or simple connections.
      My previous comment mainly meant that, for good practices and organisation reasons, I would never want like 10 lights with the same name. I would find that very confusing.
      Though, that's just me probably. I am old school.

      After playing with Ai for the last year, not having the option to just prompt how you want it to work seems pretty prehistoric. LOL. one day! Nice work guys, I'm looking forward to trying out the DLSS

    thats amazing,, cant wait to explore the new features, curious to see if the vdbs are vr scene friendly? and also would love to know how to get the pass through on quest 3, great work with the updates,. cheers

      For Scatter Volumes that could work. VDB‘s might be challenging in VR as it requires the renderer multiple steps to go through the volumes. You have quality settings but there are also multiple dependencies on Voxel size, amount of lights, hardware etc. Good quality with multiple volumes and lights can easily become a challenging task in desktop mode already.

    How can I make files saved in VRED 24 backwards compatible? There seems to be a problem with the new BRDF mode for the materials. All these file are unusable in older VRED Versions. Matte materials are suddenly glossy, without a change in the parameters. So even the materials saved in that file are trash. I tried disabling the BRDF behavior in the render settings tab ( both Ver. 6 and 2014 ), but I didnt do anything. Any clue what to do?. Thanks in advance

      Full backwards compatibility isn’t supported and never was. I mean what should happen with features used in a file that didn’t exist in older releases.

    Was happy that Volumes were added now...until I opened VRED design. Is it only possible to show Volumes when it was created in VRED Professional? Or are there other ways to open OpenVDB files?

    • @VREDexpert
      @VREDexpert 7 месяцев назад

      That’s right. Volumes are read only in VRED Design.

      I thought the linear depth pass is what makes you happy 😂

      That's too bad. Maybe later I hope;) gives so much atmosphere. Do you mean the new depth pass? Don't really use that imao but seams like a good update.

    when will the denoiser also consider all render passes?

    • @VREDexpert
      @VREDexpert 6 месяцев назад

      That’s technically impossible I think. Due to the denoiser is applied as a last step on the final sampled image. Denoising all passes individually might result in different results/quality per pass and hardly fits together when compositing the final beauty image.
