I know I shouldn't laugh, but your wife's reaction on that first shot was priceless. She looked really surprised she hit you at that range considering most of the time you'd be shooting someone at half that distance, and most of the time closer.
If you'd been hit in the chest it would have been 5x worse as most of it had blown away before you turned around. Thanks for taking one for the team to prove these things work.

This is great, I have one & now I know it really works. 16 rds is a lot to deter anyone home invading as long as they don’t have a gun. In my state, no pepper balls allowed. Though guns are allowed, a good compliment for deterrence & if the perp keeps coming at you, there is the other real weapon the perp may consider that you have. Great video. Need more like you running at your wife & see how fast she can stop you with the hard balls, no pepper and do it again with a mixture. Thank you for the demonstration.

Apparently your wife was Military in a past life. Used to shoulder fired weaponry. A natural. She was so elated while you walked to your position. Even more so when you acknowledged that you were ready. Happy Wife, Happy Life. You've done well. So for Home defense I would consider 2 to 3 Pepper (keep in mind you're indoors and would be exposed as well) and the rest Kinetic for serious pain. Thanks for the demonstration Big Mike. At how many joules max. you can use pepperballs? My salesman said that with the 40j version they can explode in the barrel.
Yes, 40 Joules is too high. For round balls don’t exceed 15-18 Joules and for VXR shaped rounds you can go up some but 28 Joules is the upper limit recommended. Above 30 Joules it becomes Russian Roulette.
I looked into these alternative less lethal a few years ago and the available pepper balls were coated instead of filled and they did nothing to the person who it was tested on. Not to mention pistols at the time only held 5-6 balls. I like this option. Thanks for sharing this and sacrificing yourself for 😅

Nice one, Mike. I actually started exploring using paintball markers for potential HD after my grandson shot me in the arse cheek with a tippmann a few years ago. I've learned a bit since, the HDX is a marker I am.currently trying to get permission to spend some of my own money on one lol. Great vid mate

Eh... I guess if I were unable to have a legal firearm, something beats nothing more often than not. I saw another test/demo video that someone did, and they did a scenario where there was an attacker that was going to run up and attack a dummy simulating someone that the person with the HDX 68 was supposed to defend. The guy said up front that he was going to continue to attack the dummy for as long as he could until the guy with the HDX 68 stopped him. It took 3 hits to the attacker for him to give up, but he had already hit the dummy maybe a good 5 or six times with the machete before he was deterred. Now, I do have to say that the attacker is an experienced martial artist who does these types of tests pretty regularly so he very likely has a higher than average pain tolerance. Also, he went into the scenario with the mindset to withstand as many shots with the pepper-balls as he could so I'm sure these factors matter, but I hope they continue to develop this thing... perhaps they can find ways to generate a little more pain such that a typical attacker really wants to stop after one shot.

At the prison I worked at (Medical RN) I would get prisoners who were pepper sprayed. They said "It is far worse than being tazed.
Just for future reference;
Only clean your eyes once with water. If you shower or wash them again you will only reactivate the pepper.
Do not touch your eyes as you will only transfer it. The pain will last 1 to 2 days.

I once used pepper spray to get rid of mole (it worked) and made sure the breeze was in my favour. But an invisible speck floating in the air got me in one eye. Instant pain, blurred vision. With pepper balls I think you can blind yourself as much as your attacker.

Believe or not the pepperballs hurt more, even though they weigh less, maybe because they travel faster i dont know, glad you enjoyed it
