Hello. I am a bit stuck. Can somebody help, please. Here is the situation: In an Excel document. I have a column that contains names. I need to put in a new column all the names that are mentioned once; and on another column all the names that are mentioned twice; this up to 5 times.

Hi Matt, Do you know how you can count how many time several different things occur? So if in one cell I want, say the total times Binder, Pencil and Pen occur in one column? My actual problem is I am using ordinals, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th. I want a total of how many times a person has finished 5th-10th. Here is the formula I've used successfully to total the number of times a person finished 1st; =COUNTIF(B7:B41,"1st"). I've got individual cells for when they finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th and I use the same formula, just change the "1st" to "2nd" etc. Now I want at total in one cell of the number of times they finished somewhere between 5th & 10th. Can you help me please?

I'm new at Excel and I recently constructed a Home Monthly Budget Planner. I'm wanting to only add the year's amount if the Bill has been paid. Can someone help? Here's an example:

the formula should update automatically. If not you need to go in your excel settings and turn on automatic calculation. should be easy to google.

you can do it on any range - whether vertical or horizontal

you cant do it on a vertical AND a horizontal range, so long as the ranges are parallel and equal size you shouldn't run in to any problems.
