Because she’s not slutting herself out, she has class and decorum, she’s not in drama, she’s not putting anyone down. This woman deserves WAY more subscribers than this. She is amazing!
My sister and I grew up when these were the fashions and were blessed with a very talented and loving Mom, who not only made all our beautiful clothes, but outfitted our Barbies and baby dolls, as well. We had the best dressed Barbies in the whole neighborhood, from play clothes to evening gowns and leopard evening capes! Every Christmas, we would each receive a new Barbie or a new doll along with her own brand new, beautifully sewn wardrobe made by our loving mother. What a blessing she is to me (she will be 91 this week and is still going strong!) and I treasure every day I have with her to thank her for what a wonderful Mom and role model she has been for me. Happy Birthday, Mom and to any other mothers celebrating this month! 🎂💐
I always loved sewing Barbie clothes!!! I feel like we were separated at birth, lol! Hadn’t thought of this in years, but about 35 years ago, I used to do alterations for a very fancy dress shop. Sometimes, I’d be left with small scraps of silk, leather, or even actual fur. These were just enough to make stunning jackets or tiny trim pieces for my daughter’s Barbie dolls! What a fun memory you revived for me!
This is my sewing life lol - I learned to sew in 1959 by making clothes for my Barbie🤗. Now I make outfits for BJDs (1:3 scale) & for American Girl dolls!!! I certainly don’t use inches with doll clothes - I use centimeters & do a lot of hand stitching!!! Love your vintage Barbie coat!!!! I made a 1:3 scale swing coat, & a poodle skirt for AGD
The finished outfit looks wonderful. Btw this reminded me of historical fashion dolls. They were dolls dressed in miniature versions of real clothes. So the customer could see what the end product would look like.
Yay! Dolly content! It came out beautifully. If you're considering making more doll garments, can I suggest you invest in some very thin cotton (like the thinnest of lawns or batiste for example) to use for unseen linings simply to reduce the bulk of layers when it comes to doll scale - not all human-scale fabrics work in doll scale due to the differnce in drape and thickness relative to human vs doll scale, and anything to reduce the thickness of multiple layers really can help with that.
Growing up, a neighbor was an exceptional sewist. She made all of HER clothes, her daughter's clothes and Barbie clothes. The pattern you used brought back memories, and your finished product is stunning and cute, too!
I love this so much! Brings back childhood memories of the Barbies I grew up with. A lady from our neighbor church made them to sell and one year my momma bought me a wardrobe full of couture Barbie cloths! I was so thrilled! My Barbie had a dark blue-green velvet coat very similar to this one. Love your videos! The clothes you make take me back to my childhood days, sitting on the bed in my mom’s room whilst she sewed away on her sewing machines❤️🧵🪡
Eeeee!! This makes me so happy!! I've been making dolls and sewing them clothes for over 7 years now, seeing other people try miniature sewing always makes me so happy! I love your normal content and this just makes me so happy! Mini sewing is deceptively difficult, you did an amazing job! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 💕❤️ oh I knew mini sewing would be difficult. I admire people who make and design doll clothes!!! I could never do it seriously to the point that it looks couture
Yes!!! I m 60 but have a hankering to make barbie clorhes. Enjoyed the video immensely. Beautiful work. Can't wait to get some time to sew.. thank you for inspiring me!💖
Amazing eye for detail. My great grandmother made almost all of my Barbie clothes and I have two of my favorite outfits displayed in my sewing room. Once I learned to sew I realized how much skill is needed to make these "teeny tiny" clothes,
That’s really sweet! It does take a lot of skill to make a flawless Barbie outfit (mine has all the flaws) I bet people who learned how to make Barbie clothes first make amazing human sized pieces.
When I was around 10 years old, my mother made a box full of Barbie doll clothes, including coat and wraps. This was during the 70's, but the clothes were all 50's and 60's.
I’ve been making doll clothes for over 15 years. It takes a while to get the hang of how fabric works for smaller scales. I also do a lot of hand sewing due to fiddly curves.
New to sewing, crafting etc so will need to go back to find your early posts. But I am so grateful to have found myself here. Had told a relative not long ago about loving the 50s/60s although not born then. I felt so alone, since not many understand and rather I just fit todays look, not understanding it's not for me and not really the way I want to be or identify with. I admire folks from the past, more than I do today. Not all of course, but so much about today turns me off that I rather go back in time and be happier there. Thanks so much for your channel and content❤🙏🏿
LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT! 😱💗💗 You have a lil mini you and how it perfectly matches your make. Mattel will be calling soon to have you design more fits 🤞🏻🥰💗💗
Rena, im not doing so good right now. Watching your videos mwkes me file. Thank you for all you do its so Healing. I wish you great Succress. THINK BIG! GET SUPPORYETS BUT DONT SELL OUT BE WISE. ❤❤❤❤
Oh my gosh!! I can’t even tell you how much I love this!!! I have a 1970 Barbie (the year I was born) and now I feel bad we don’t have matching clothes. I might have to change that soon!!
@@SewRena She showed some fabric that’s right up your alley! Several of us noticed it and were going oooooo what would Sewrena make from that or ooooo Sewrena could make a gorgeous suit out of that and so on.
All my patterns are in storage but I’ve always preferred to trace my patterns. It makes it easier for me to adjust things and save them for later in a Manila envelope with date, sizes, pattern etcetera
Such beautiful work and so inspiring! I've been getting back into sewing these days and have been looking at all the beautiful inspiration. This morning I had the thought to start making barbie clothes for some reason and then I came across this video!!! I love that you said it's a good way to practice!! You're exactly the teacher I needed!!! Cheers and much love!!❤❤❤❤
I’d’ve liked to have an anxiety attack watching this 😂. My God! How you cut out, let alone sew something this tiny is beyond me. But, my great grandmother made tons of Barbie clothes like these on her old Singer machine. Wouldn’t she be thrilled to find this skill set being carried on ❤️
Hahaha if I keep this up I will get some smaller fabric scissors. I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t make a belt to match, but I did a quick search and I can buy Barbie sized belt buckles 😂😂 this might be a thing that I do in between all big projects
After three sons and six grandsons I just found out that we're getting a granddaughter this summer. 🥰 I want to buy a first Barbie. And I'm hoping to make vintage clothes for her to dress Barbie with. Thanks for this video!😊
Other than Barbie's inordinately long, skinny neck and her absence of a hat, I would swear that doll is a "Sewrena doll" instead of Barbie! Absolutely stunning!
Awwww thanks! Someone actually tagged me on Instagram and said it was a “SewRena” doll that’s why I bought it 😂. I wish I could have gotten another so I could take her hair down and give her a hat
Getting the small curves like collar and bodice attached to the skirt was the hardest part. Thats why I didn’t even bother to film the skirt attaching to the bodice I could hardly see myself 😫. Thanks so much for watching 💕🥰
It's like a reverse cosplay. Barbie is going to be matching you!
Yes!! I do want to make her outfit, but I need to use up some fabric from my haul before I go buying more
Still can't figure out why this Fabulous, Fierce, Feminine, Female doesn't have OVER 1 million subscribers!! Wake up, World!
Absolutely 💯
Just found this and I agree. She is fantastic ... never seen this before.

Omg so cute 😍 making Barbie clothes is how my grandmother taught my sister and I to sew.
Thanks! I think I’m going to teach my daughter this way
The Barbie outfit is adorable. You did an awesome job.

Ms Barbie is definitely a fashion statement in this stunning creation. She could be strutting down the runway and wowing the crowd.
Great work. I love that you made Barbie match you instead of you trying to match her because I love your style.
So perfect! I learned to make Barbie clothes back in the 70s! I still have my 1968 skater Barbie! Thinking she needs a new outfit!😀
Yes! She needs a new outfit
She looks adorable!!!! Can’t wait to see more matching outfits!
Beautiful but difficult for me! 😂
So cute! I used to make clothes for my Barbie's when I was a little girl.
Me too! Nothing as fabulous as this but she was cute
The finished outfit looks wonderful. Btw this reminded me of historical fashion dolls. They were dolls dressed in miniature versions of real clothes. So the customer could see what the end product would look like.
Ohh yes! It’s very similar.
My mom used to make Barbie clothes in the 1960s. They made wonderful patterns back then for the dolls. I love what you made!
Thank you 💕💕

Thank you 💕 the first time I made a Barbie pattern it annoyed the hell out of me. This time it was super fun
Nothing like seeing Barbie looking so classy and beautiful!
Yes!!! My childhood self would be so impressed with my life and happy I still have Barbie
@@SewRena My childhood self wishes she would have treated her Barbie better.
I could envision many Barbie cloths, carried around and finished while doing errands.

Aww it’s my pleasure thanks for watching 💕
Learning how to sew by making doll clothes is what my aunt recommended I do. It's so fun making such small clothes.
It’s a very good recommendation I saved so much scrap for this project and I hardly touched it 😂
I'm always here for Barbie 🩷
I’ve always heard doll clothes can be some of the hardest to make because of the “tiny” nature of the project. Your work is perfection!
So cute! I’ve used the same advance pattern and I love it-so fun to make Barbie clothes!!
I bought a 222k featherweight just to do those tiny baby sleeves, etc. The small free arm makes things SO much easier!!
Barbie looks bitter she didn’t get the hat and the belt to match! Adorable work!
That is so stinking cute. I can't stand it. I look forward to your barbie matching you some more.
Adorable! Now I want to make Barbie clothes. 😂

One of my favorites from all the beautiful outfits youve made. 💕
Absolutely love how it came out and would absolutely love to see you make more Barbie clothes

You're crazy. I sewed Barbie clothes decades ago and only did a few easy ones. Great job.
Loved the video beautiful job.
Your Barbie is beautiful! I used to sew clothes for my daughter’s Barbie, and lining them! I even made a pillbox hat
I love little Barbie hats😍

Sew a small piece of jewelry on the coat so it will match yours. You do beautiful work!
