    Love the dresses. I am almost 64 and I had a Skipper, Barbie, Midge, Ken, and Francie. I also had a Barbie car, which did not work out very well because the dolls did not have bendable legs, so they had to sit in a very un-ladylike fashion with their legs over the dashboard! Francie may have had bendable legs, but it has been a hot minute or two. LOL! I have been following your vids for awhile, and I love your style! Reminds me of when life was classier and simpler! Keep living your best life!

      I did too!!!!! I kept them till my girls were in grade school when they added my Barbies to their collection. Sadly when they were teens they Gothed up all the dolls - including Belle, the ORIGINAL Ariel, Eric & the Beast - & my vintage dolls. The dolls looked very cool 😎 & my girls showed their creativity, but oops, there went the collectible value 😂
      These were the girls’ dolls (I gave them mine) so no they weren’t somehow stealing etc.

      @@teleriferchnyfain I passed mine on to my younger sister, so no collectiable value for me either! Back then we had no idea how much they would be worth, of course it is more valuable to pass them on to a loved one. Glad your girls had fun with them.

    I loved my Skipper. One of the outfits that I received for her on my 10th birthday in 1964 was a pair of pink shortie pj’s with a fluffy pink bathrobe and a pink teddy bear. I bought some felt and made pillows and more a little cat for her. I was in love, but I also learned to sew by sewing for Barbie,Ken, Midge and Skipper. Thank you for reminding me of a precious memory. I am grateful. I loved your Skipper’s and SewRena outfit! It also reminded me of one of Julia Robert’s Pretty Woman outfits. ❤

    Thank you for this video. Sewing doll clothing is how I practice and learn various techniques required for making larger garments. You are right to call it a palate cleanser. It’s like a quick reset button when you are stumped or have a sewing block. I don’t have a lot of vintage patterns made in my size nor have I yet acquired pattern drafting and adjustment skills so it is a treat to be able to make the garments and still have them be a part of my collection this way. Your Skipper looks lovely. Thanks for sharing what the Silkstone is like. I have been interested in the reproductions but have been nervous about whether the material suits my style of play.

    You definitely could open your own Etsy shop for vintage style doll clothes. All your mini fashions are fabulous! My vintage Skipper has the Titian hair. She also has a brother. They must be twins because they're bodies are the same, just different heads....You're inspiring me to hunt down doll clothes patterns and start sewing again. My mom made me lots of Barbie clothes in the 70s. She got quite creative cutting patterns down to fit Skipper and Francie!

I had the best dressed dolls in town as my mother would make them outfits from her sewing scraps as well. ❤❤

  • @mycharliequinn
    @mycharliequinn 4 месяца назад +1

    I make doll outfits and sometimes plastic dolls absorb dark dyes.
    the greatest risk is if you have polyester fabric because both the doll and the fabric are plastic the plastic dyes bleed across. but even with cotton fabric there's the risk they used a dye that works on both organic and synthetic so it's worth either making her a little slip out of white cotton lawn or lining doll clothes with white cotton lawn. or just wrap a little bit of white something around her body under the dress so it doesn't sit right against her skin.
    the risk is low with cotton but it's worth considering.

    Oh my god! I randomly saw this video. I was born 1988 but not allowed to receive barbies as presents and only played with random old worn out dolls i found on the flea market. And i remember this swimming suit! I was always wondering about its strange shape and what it was meant for. Now i wonder if my mom, who was the one to hate barbie and everything US and western, had this barbie as a kid, she was born 56, so that would make sense. Only thing that doesn’t is how you can hate that is fun for your child when it doesn’t hurt you and isolate your kid like this. Thank you for the enlightenment!! ❤
