I LOVE this pattern, and am going to try to find it for my daughter. Im amazed that it is so close to thr Barbie dress. (I love the fabrics used in her dress as well.) And that's a great tip about the bias tape for the underarms. I've never heard of that bafore. I'll remember that for my next project. (All my sewing is on hold while Mr Injury-Prone finishes painting my sewing room and putting up new shelves for me....i'm on first aid duty while he works...)
Oh my goodness! We did this dress in our Home Economics class back in '81! We were supposed to bring two different colours in material, but we were poor and only had this faded denim-coloured cotton, we couldn't afford to buy another colour, so the teacher shamed me in front of the class for not bringing two different colours. But my sister (who was in clothing design school then) gave me a bunch of lace and piping to use on it and told me how to do it. Use the wide, lace panel where the corset section was, and if there is enough of the lace left to trim the arm holes with it, make a ruffled cap sleeve with it, she wrote down directions on how to do this, and then use the navy piping on top and bottom of the corset and on the seam of the lace caps. The teacher scoffed at what I brought and said, "We will see if it turns out to be a dress or coveralls." To make a long story short, it came out beautifully and I even wore it to school and on many occasions. As for the teacher and her attitude, my mom went up there and punched her square in the nose when I told her what happened, knocking the teacher's huge bumblebee glasses off of her head, all the while the principal stood and watched! My mom never got in trouble for it, but they got a new Home Economics teacher for the next semester, who stayed until she retired. But I love that you recreated this style of dress! So simple, but so classy! Thank you for sharing this video! My favourite pattern is a flowing shirt dress. It is my go-too pattern,
Well, I've never done "vintage sewing" but I guess back in the day what I did then would be considered vintage now. Anyway, I used to make ALL of my skirts when I had an office job. I found 2 skirt patterns and used them for years in every fabric imaginable. I get it - find something that works and go with it.

I make doll clothes, started sewing at 8 making clothes for my Barbie. Now it’s BJDs - 1:3 scale dolls 🤗. I also sometimes make American Girl doll clothes. I enjoy making doll clothes cause they don’t gain or lose weight 😂
I wish everyone in the world could be like this friendly and creative and nice and not tear each other's hearts this is so touching and good and I love it
Child (I can say that confidently as I am old enough to be your Mom) you look so stylish, per usual! Such a beautiful dress, you have reawakened my love for vintage clothing!
Same here. I've seen other seamstresses do vintage, but Sewrena has totally grabbed my attention and motivated me to get serious about sewing all the patterns I've invested in....!!!!
That is absolutely beautiful. I love everything about this design. The bolero gives this dress another beautiful look. Love the big yellow buttons. And what a great colour. ❤
This is amazing ❤ I've been collecting barbie outfits for inspiration of outfits to make on pinterest for a while now. So far I've only made one Christmas outfit. This is a beautiful dress xxxxx
Girl, this pattern again! 😂 Hahaha I love it and it suits you so well! 😍 I have some vintage Burda 60s skirt patterns with great variations which I used a lot. But my #1 pattern so far is the free Mary Quant 60s Mini Dress pattern from Alice & Co. which they did for a V&A museum exhibition. Made this in a lot of variations and even used it as the base for some blouses. I love your authenticity, please always stay that way! ❤ Love from Germany, Diana
This turned out beautifully!! Loved how you took the inspiration and made it your own. Would love to see a video about Barbie inspirations with vintage patterns! 😊💗
I'm loving the barbie content. I'm re discovering dolls as an adult, I just got the silkstone Allan doll release, and I'm excited to try making some vintage clothes for him from vintage patterns! I find hand sewing really relaxing, and I'm not confident in my pattern following skills at all (my brain wants me to draft the pattern, cut, and sew it all myself for some reason) so I'd like to learn to follow a pattern and doing that on doll scale is less intimidating. There are also a lot of clothes that I love the look of but wouldn't ever want to wear myself, so I like the idea of making these clothes for dolls.
Girl is my dream neighbor. So friendly and respectful. And don’t forget about her beauty and her style!
I KNOW RIGHT! like I just want to be her friend and bask, in person, in all the beautiful things she does!
@@strawberrychampagne8250But for real though! Like imagine going outside and seeing this beautiful person!!!!
Girl, if I had a midriff like yours, I'd make a midriff pattern too!
Beautiful dress, beautiful model!
Exactly, lol! I USED to have a midriff, but that was several decades ago. Thankfully we can still watch Sewrena and enjoy her style.
This lady is beautiful and her work amazing. Her figure and clothing silhouette remind me of my mother in the 1960s.
I love how you Make the same pattern into a totally different dress! It’s a delight to see you in these fashions!
Not only did I grow up with Barbie but so did my daughter. We would love to see a video linking Barbie with vintage patterns. 💖💖💖
Wow! The dress turned out beautiful! It makes you look like a daffodil! Perfect for spring!
As a beginner honestly this channel drops so many little nuggets of good advice
I’m so glad you can learn from me 💕💕

That is one heckuva story! While I'm not fond of violence, I'm a big fan of parents sticking up for their kids when the adult is the one in the wrong.
😮
You made me 😂laugh my hinney off! You will never forget, thank you for sharing! ❤❤❤

I always tell people who want to learn how to follow a pattern to try doll clothes so you don’t have to go all in!
