As a black South African, my greatest challenge isn't the blatant racism or economic struggles that often dominate conversations about our country. In a nation grappling with the highest levels of inequality and unemployment in the world, these issues feel secondary to a deeper, more personal struggle: existing authentically as a black individual in a society that often seems detached from the values of emotional intelligence, civility, and intellectual growth. It’s a daily challenge to find resonance in a cultural landscape where intellectual rigor and self-improvement are not prioritized. From the quality of TV programming to the state of our education system and infrastructure, everything is mediocre. The bar is so low, and this cultural inertia impacts every facet of life. It’s not self-hate that fuels these observations; it’s an honest reckoning with the prevailing mindset and its impact on our institutions, relationships, and aspirations. This dynamic makes it incredibly challenging to date, form meaningful friendships, commit to relationships, or find a community where one feels truly understood, protected, and valued. I often feel like a foreigner in my own country. There’s a constant pressure to either conform to the status quo-dumbing myself down and accepting mediocrity-or to leave. I don’t hate black people; we possess some of the most striking external features, a beautiful skin texture that glows in the sun-an undeniable natural beauty-but nothing on the inside. I hate the mindset that has become so pervasive, the culture that holds us back, and the fact that, as a society, we export so little of value to the world. We solve too few problems yet create many more, contributing minimally to the advancement of human civilization. Our priorities seem misplaced: we consume everything and produce nothing of value. The painful truth is that many individuals like me-those with education, ambition, and a drive to create something meaningful-are leaving the country. In our departure, the country loses far more than just people; it loses its intellectual capital, its innovators, and its potential for growth. Every exit weakens the foundation of progress and leaves behind a void that deepens our societal challenges. I feel like a stranger in the land of my birth. The values I hold, the aspirations I nurture, and the vision I have for a better future often feel at odds with the environment around me. It’s not just a matter of physical space but an emotional and intellectual alienation-a disconnection that’s as profound as it is painful.

The worst for me is the children. I can't tell you how many times I've seen little girls - around 9 to 11 with their mothers, dressed in see through skin tight leggings in shops. Every man's eyes are on that - some literally licking their lips. Mommy's half naked herself. Why? Why would shame your CHILD like that???? I have 2 sons and 1 daughter. There is no way in hell that I would allow her to leave the house like that. Her best friend for years always agreed with me because her mom was the same. I also checked their handbags before they left. My daughter is 28 now and if she's at home with me she will dress to go out and I still don't let her leave looking like a prostitute. The world is a dangerous place for women. Even school dresses are hiked up. We have rapist teachers in our schools. When we were at school (I'm 64) - every Monday we girls had to sit on our knees and if your dress did not touch the floor we were told to take out the hems immediately. Those were the rules. Don't do it and your parents were called to fetch you immediately. Even boys were checked. My oldest son was a captain in rowing and they wore tight stretch shorts. If they came back into the class after training with those shorts you were told to come back only when you're "decent". Its the right way. My close friend of many years (Black) has to take her daughter to high school this year and is adamant that she goes to a girls school. She's terrified for her daughter. It's such a shame that our schools today aren't laying down strict rules. Even if they do, these brats cause riots. We are a sick society. 😡
We are in the last times my brothers and sisters. They are beginning to call good evil and evil good, it is time to turn the Lord and repent of sins 🙏🏽

I am invited to a family reunion but I think I am not gona go due to how they speak about alcohol like its the most important thing,I rather spend that day with my family somewhere else
I have worked at resorts with casino's, and later on the odd occasion that I have attended a function in a casino, I have seen small children sleeping on the floor of the establishment, whilst their parents are gambling their money away. I am talking about both white and black kids from a tender young age and all at primary school going age. I feel that if the parents want to gamble their hard earned money away, that is their choice, but at least get a baby sitter to look after the child at HOME, not sleeping on the floor of a casino.
They lock them up alone & go drink & dance the entire nyt. If they're not burnt from candles, it's ptima stoves & gas stoves. SASSA has worsened the situation.
I am 66 years old and I still love jogging in the morning. So I meet children going to school, so on this occasion I meet three young high school girls dressed in their school uniforms, but as I get closer, one is smoking and I then smell the weed. I called out to her and told her, so you are smoking weed and dressed in school uniform. She just walked away. Then still jogging, I meet this one in school uniform, I have never seen such a short tunic in my life. I told her, that it is unacceptable. How can a mother allow her daughter leave the house dressed like that. I thank God that I had boys who never gave me any problems even after having raised them single handedly. We adults must be very careful of how we raise our children. Alcohol is not good for anyone.
😔😔😔so so sad As parents, we really need to stop trying to play the role of friends more than the role of parents with our children They may like us for it today but they will resent us for it in future when they understand I had a strict mother and sometimes I didn't like it, but now that I am older, I am SOOOOOO grateful for her strictness
@@pastorjacobs6076 They used to say the girls used to cook like their mothers, now they drink like their fathers. Young drink so much these days, if a mother drinks so much, what happens to the children? My father did not drink liquer at all and always told us about the dangers of alcohol. His words still are in my head, that alcohol is no good, I have passed that onto my boys. They went through their youth days experimented and realized for themselves that it is a problem thank God. At work parties the girls out drink the guys and I was shocked to see that. It is December again, be safe everyone. The statistics will be released in January about the deaths on our roads. Just today, I read that our grade 5 learners come last in 59 countries. Is this where we as country ANC has messed up our education system. The ANC cadres's children go to private schools, this doesn't affect them. Our government schools are in a mess. The people who keep voting for them are the ones suffering. I live among black people, all they do is live to drink alcohol, the low wages they earn most of it is spent on paralyzing themselves. I speak to them and advise them to better themselves but it is pointless. The parents on a 10 year and give year old have been given beer n wine already. So sad it's complete madness
I feel like most people are victims, always using their trauma to justify their immoral behavior, partying not to have fun but to get a temporary escape from their problems. Instead of recognizing and solving the problems in your life, they'd rather be irresponsible and probably commit a crime unaware.

Sad reality Sis K. People wait until something bad happens to them, then they cry foul. We've lost and still losing lives of many young people in our communities because of bad decisions in alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and frenzy sexual behaviors. Change of mindsets will be key in our communities.
Father time reveals all. Reality is often disappointing for people engaging in these kinds of behaviour. He's using ,pressumably his kid for a publicity stunt. Grotesque
There is an awakening happening and I love to see it. Vitimhood needs to die and accountability needs to rise. I'm not black, I am coloured, but everything you say here is relevant to my community too. As you said, "harsh but true"
Upbringing begins at home. I have two children aged 36 and 37. Both are graduates and are working in high profile management positions. I consume alcohol moderately, to date I never ever allowed my children to pour me a drink nor get a beer from the refrigerator. I never even hit them for naughtiness but just lectured them about life. Out people think for themselves first and then concern themselves with the children which should be vice versa.

But how could it be, apartheid regime year's didn't force them to become alcoholics by taking their hands to go drink 🍻🍷
It's in your 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
The worst for me is the children. 😡
And the government is on their side. You cant even point a finger at them and its called assault.😢😢😢
True half naked parents in malls walking with half naked kids.
Lets do better as parents
We are in the last times my brothers and sisters. They are beginning to call good evil and evil good, it is time to turn the Lord and repent of sins 🙏🏽
Amen 🙏🙇♀️✝️🕯
its bad!
My goodness 😢
The first 7 years of a childs life is critical, it shows the child which way it should go..
As a granny, I can see the consequences of generations children that have been brought up in homes where alcohol and parties prevailed. People scarred for life. So sad😢
It’s very very sad!!
Destructive behavior by a father, no proper nurturing and guidance.
The father also had a bad upbringing, now he is passing the baton of stupidity and bad behavior to his son, what a disgrace.
The more you speak the truth the more people will hate, they hated Jesus anyway for speaking the truth
Hayiboo! This is not right at all. Like you said, we like to celebrate mediocrity and blame the circumstance on other people
I love this woman cause she takes great accountability for us South Africans.
Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing.😪
That child will suffer damage to his hearing!
Reckless!
As a black person im ashamed about what our ppl doing on the streets
My heart bleeds for our once beautiful South Africa, absolutely broken and filthy 😢
💯💯💯true, and it is our community that promotes and justifies the worst behaviors, baby mama culture, stealing because we are 'poor', that's why we keep on voting for the ANC, that is responsible for our demise.
That child will be blaming apartheid in 10 years to come 💔💔🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
They've been blaming it for more than a century
In 10 years time, we won't have a leg to stand on. But yes, segregation and apartheid have been thorns in our side for 4 centuries !
Because it is very much alive and well, stronger than before factually
@@ruvanefriebus-cv6tdhmm, hmm, hmmm, open racists in our forefathers land, you so comfortable you don't see your kids will be the sacrifise of your evil deeds against a black people😢
@@ruvanefriebus-cv6td This is not an apartheid apologists support group.
What fantastic message, which equates to pure love
Katlego Nna I come from a family that used to celebrate Christmas in thr yard in a respectful manner.I never went to parties or festivals by my parents and grandparents. Now I am a mom of 2 beautiful girls, they know nothing about drinking, partying etc because I don't do them and I make sure to isolate them from families like that.I am selective of who my girls has to visit in my family.
That is so sad for those kids
They lock them up alone & go drink & dance the entire nyt. If they're not burnt from candles, it's ptima stoves & gas stoves. SASSA has worsened the situation.
I saw that too. In a real country they would be charged with child abuse. 😡
😢
@kateturner1849 This happens in the USA too. Las Vegas, to be more specific.
This is what most people need to hear, thank you.
😔😔😔so so sad
As parents, we really need to stop trying to play the role of friends more than the role of parents with our children
They may like us for it today but they will resent us for it in future when they understand
I had a strict mother and sometimes I didn't like it, but now that I am older, I am SOOOOOO grateful for her strictness
@@hildadavids217 painful indeed , it started when God was chased out of schools .no God no life , no God no order , we live in a lawlessness country..
The looting never stops and no one is held accountable.
Sometimes kids come out the house looking normal then once they are out that is when they shorten their skirts . Parents sometimes don’t know . But you right there are some parents that will just let their kids come out like that and it is very sad
Wow how people have become ungodly and destructive after freedom???
The truth is exactly that speaking it as it is because you love and care
My sister keep on telling the truth those who have ears will hear.some of us look up to you you never disappoint I salute
What you are doing is absolutely loving and caring. Seeking to be educated, having high standards, discipline, common decency, respect and especially living God’s way are all the best way to get to a good place in life.
Keep up this good work 👏
These comments are surprisingly supportive
That's our problem we don't show each others mistakes we praise everyone who does wrong.
You are 100 % spot on Katlego! These are indeed the REAL issues! Keep it up. 😊
Forget the way people will pigeon hole you: you are a radically extraordinary person.
To you and the rest of katlegos petty self hating fanbase...
When we choose corrupt criminals as our leaders this is our destiny. How could we expect any different??? Only with ignorance.
Thanks for speaking sense Katlego. May God continue to bless you
The truth always hurts Keep on telling the truth without fear, favours or prejudice . I salute you Mam.
You do not only criticize, but you educate. Education is the one thing we desperately need in our society. This is not just a black problem, but a South African problem.
Very true. South african culture is not good to society. Yet who can see ? It appears the ones voicing the truth are being shamed. Let us believe in the truth and it shall set us free.
That's exactly what I have been saying. We are so distractive and believe in nothing. Hence, people from outside just do as they please .
Katlego Thank you because although truth hurts but it set us free
You should be in politics, we need people like you who have common sense and intelligence. ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes is true,we have no manners😭
Kat you're such generational thinker. I wish there was a different and more rapid way to get this message properly drilled in our minds. Kat you should be sponsored to speak in educational institutions in seminars etc...keep up the good work my sister ❤
100% right Katlego. It's such a pity that people don't think first. This sort of behaviour leads to disaster, not matter who, or what you are. Thank you very much for your wonderful work. Keep it up. ❤
The poor child being subjected to loud music is not good
Great & very valid correction l
Thank you 😊
I'm glad you think so!
my sister, I give you 100%. we behind you all the way... we have loss nation , this democracy it become monster to our brother and sister .👌👌
Bad behaviors spread so fast! The hype that came with social media 'likes' has create clowns and crazies... hopefully they'll learn but im not holding my breath for it
Thank you for the wise words and advise Sister Katlego. You the best👌
You are doing good work. Thanks
A false sense of pride, delinquency, arrogance and narcissism is an ugly concoction on which to build ones personality.
We had a school friend and his girlfriend bring their baby to the bar we used to drink at. One stayed in the car with the child ehile the other drank, and thry took turns. We were shocked, shunned them and told thrm thry couldnt go out with us anymore.
You're a good friend
Disgusting, these people should not be parents.
And he will be on a bike with that toddler. Lord have mercy.
Another concerning trend is fireworks on New Years. Although kids love it, it does show a lack of respect towards animals and ultimately kids too.
Just came back from a week in Tanzania where I went to train engineering personnel. So nice to have lived in village where they don’t have keys. You just close your door and go. Nobody even thinks about taking someone else’s property. It doesn’t have to be like this
This is how it was during 1960770/80
Good morning does it look like that child has a beer can in his hands.ls this what goes on in shabeens. Shebeens should be banned from communities. This is what leads to crime. Thanks for caring for our people speak the truth how many lives are going to be lost because of alcohol. Keep speaking the truth. Love your work❤
No it's baby 🍼
I live among black people, all they do is live to drink alcohol, the low wages they earn most of it is spent on paralyzing themselves. I speak to them and advise them to better themselves but it is pointless. The parents on a 10 year and give year old have been given beer n wine already. So sad it's complete madness
I feel like most people are victims, always using their trauma to justify their immoral behavior, partying not to have fun but to get a temporary escape from their problems. Instead of recognizing and solving the problems in your life, they'd rather be irresponsible and probably commit a crime unaware.
The moral decay of the youth.
Get out of here with that your generation put them in debt when yall supported those Anc scumbags
I stumbled on this channel and immediately subscribed. You mam are an amazing human being. I wish there were more RUclipsrs like you. You embody and represent the best of humanity. Thank you for telling it like it is
Thanks
Thank you so much for your contribution ❤️ 🙏 🫡
We need to understand rhat we as adults are the custodians of our kids.😢
What is wrong with the people, drink take your kid and show them who your are. I have a family member who let his grand children to look at his phone and you can imagine what is on his phone. Father, Mother have no more respect
We dont need to be rich to implement all you mentioned. This will benefit the ones we profess to love...our children.
Absolutely 💯
It costs nothing to be responsible and well-mannered
“Who needs enemies when you have friends like these” 🔥
How does this man's mind work? This is disturbing even the people there are not stopping him I mean who lets such things happen while they are watching? Shameful

Sad; yet true; all households should budget and prioritize; seems they buy bling before a house or plot😢
Best that happened this year is me discovering this channel . thank you Katlego.
Our problem is our thieves leaders and we become like them
Speak for yourself. All of us are not thieves
No, the problem is that their is a cavity where the brains should be. Why ... gulp, gulp, gulp ... yeh, yeh, yeah ... chant, chant, chant. And they call themselves usable youth and human beings. The leaders maybe has a part in that but your wrong choices anf actions in life are entirely your own. Stop blaming others for your hopelesness and disbandonment. You choose to follow that road.
The problem of black south African youth and people at large is wrong role models 😢
South Africa is Dying day by day
it already dead a
Keep on spreading your message, Lady. We need to save our countriy and our people. I so glad to see your followers are increasing. You're doing a good job.
And that is arguably the worst part. No one is pulling this man to the side to say "hey stop this nonsense" because people frequenting these establishments have no discipline or sense themselves.
Sad reality Sis K. People wait until something bad happens to them, then they cry foul. We've lost and still losing lives of many young people in our communities because of bad decisions in alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and frenzy sexual behaviors. Change of mindsets will be key in our communities.
I'm so impressed by your intellect and honesty. I've subscribed. Keep speaking. We are listening and thinking too👌
Old rats make holes, and young ones go through them.

Thanks For Preaching To Them .
We Must Go Back To Jesus , The Bible, Pray and Live according to Christ.
Follow The Example Of Jesus .
Your reasoning is very smart, on points all the time.
Thank you for the tuff love...its needed❤
You are an Amazing woman Katli...❤
Without fear or favour...🙏

We don't take ourselves Seriously that's where the problem is .
It is time a black person stood up and says all the good things this young lady is saying. On point.
Agree with your speech that all parents are fully responsible for their children and if you put your children in harms way then you are solely to be blamed, so please look after your angels😊
I agree this is nonsense, and we tolerate it trying to people please, let us change our behavior guys, thank you for the good work sis
It’s not just South Africa. It’s all across Africa and the Diaspora. I’ve followed your channel for a while. Your message can be applied everywhere with our brothers and sisters. We are getting worst every generation 😢
